Shores of Despare (part 7)

"Zarae!!" Sanisa cried as the young drowess was hurled at the wall. However, when Cinder's [i:2jwrin8t]Entanglement[/i:2jwrin8t] ((It could be Entanglement with Animate Plants cast together)) spell began, she breathed a sigh of relief. While it was not her place to worry about her son's friends, the solar woman had made it a point to herself to keep them all safe. She was relieved that the impact had not gone through fully, lest she would now be at the drowesses side, giving her healing.
[i:2jwrin8t]Whoever is behind these attacks is not being subtle with their antics,[/i:2jwrin8t] Sanisa thought to herself as she cast [i:2jwrin8t]Mass Cure Light Wounds[/i:2jwrin8t] on the whole group. While she was certain that Adian and Veraka had not sustained any injuries, she wasn't about to leave anything up to chance. She turned just in time to see the demise of the last Wraith at the hands of her son and daughter-in-law.
"Cinder, get out of there!!" Neriah shouted towards the druidess.
Just as she barked those words, the fey'ri sorceress wove her thoughts into words, and let those words slide off of her tongue, conjuring a [i:2jwrin8t]Delayed Burst Fireball[/i:2jwrin8t] at the last Wraith. The searing ball of heat and fury sailed forth from Neriah's hand and zoomed barely past Cinder, only to explode a moment later right behind the floating phantasm, dousing it with an inferno from the hells themselves.
This caught the Wraith's attention as it turned to Neriah, and came howling with a vengeance at her, its hollow, red eyes focused on her and her unborn children. However, the incorporeal being only got about half way to its target before a crackle of thunder, followed by the white flash of light came from Veraka that moment.
The paladin had not only funneled a few [i:2jwrin8t]Chain Lighting[/i:2jwrin8t] spells into Marala Vharc, he had readied himself for such an incident with the Wraiths. With a single, powered overhead stroke of his sword, Veraka sent all of the supercharged electricity from Marala Vharc careening down towards the last wraith.
The bolt of dancing electricity arched towards the wraith, sizzling the very air around it, until it impacted the wraith head-on. The arching bolt impacted the wraith, white-blue electrical tendrils prancing about the wraiths skin, until it finally died out, falling lifeless to the ground.
"Well, THAT is said and done. I do wonder who is the mastermind behind all of this?" Sanisa spoke aloud, giving pause for the others to catch their breath and recover.

As the wraith disincorporated to its last rest, Adian leaned against a wall to take a few breaths. He didn't sense any more evil in the immediate vicinity...they were being left along for the moment.
He had to agree with Sanisa. This had been a directed attack, and if they had any sense they wouldn't be letting the group rest for very long. Especially since the group had disposed of all opposition with minimal injuries. He resisted the urge to curse, looking down the hall that the monsters had come down.
"We need to move," he said. "Now. Is everyone all right?"

((thanks. one day i will figure out these spells. NWN made it easy. i picked the ones that sounded neat....or had fire in it.
))
safe and no longer flying into a wall, the rogue touched back down onto hard stone and hurried to retrieve her weapon. her breath slightly more heavy than usual. they had been fighting a long time, that most would have been beyond exhaustion already. but the group, trained adventurers, managed to deal with the tiredness fighting to gain a foothold. to slip now could mean certain death.
Soon her and Cinder climbed back down to the floor to rejoin the rest. the healing effects washed over reparing small nicks and cuts the rogue had ignored.
"alright," taking a slow deep breath, "we need to get in their before the mass of bones returns. their should only be a few in there currently. not to hard, right?"
another deeper breath, this time, she closed her eyes and breathed out slowly. when she opened them, their were changing to a shade of crimson, a color not often seen the drowess.
slipping into the darkness and disppearing, she hurried twords the room of their target, blades out before her and ready to tasted flesh (or bones).
inside the room again just ahead of the others, she noticed a trap just i time. balancing a sword on her squatted knees, she worked quickly to disarm it before any of the others entered the room.
five skeletons remained, and from the looks of them, they were stronger than the ones chasing her shadow. Zarae sighed silently knowing that soon she would be in a slightly weakened state. but she had to help. had to get that person on the other side of the door. had to prove herself to the surface world.
((just in case, Zar had only been on the surface about a week when this started as it was like my first RP on here))

Cinder moved close beside Adain as he caught his breath
" I am afraid i am not well prepared to fight theses beasts " she wispered " I will do my best to watch your back but for some reasson that strange light headedness is returning I am not sure what kind of help i can be if it returns full force, perhaphs i may have to just try and stay out of the way and find someplace out of sight but will keep a close eye on you " she rapped her arm around Adains and leaned on him affectionatly.

Adian set a gauntleted hand over Cinder's ungloved one.
"Just stay behind the main line," he said. "We'll probably need your support magics than anything else...although those day-flare things were certainly useful. I won't let anything happen to you."
He looked around at the others.
"We're probably going to have to use somewhat less spectacular tactics on the remaining guardians," he said. "To avoid drawing the rest of the force back on top of us. After that, we press on until we can put a barrier between them and us."
He breathed a sigh of relief when Zarae spotted and neutralized the sword trap. He got another chill as they approached the room. The malice that he sensed there was much akin to that of the wraiths. These last defenders were more than they appeared to be...more powerful than the other skeletons had been.
He steadied himself with a silent prayer for strength, then glanced around at the others, waiting for them to get into position to attack.

" I will look for a hidden perch and watch for an opening " She sighed to Adain. She looked down to see that she was grasping a peice of the vine, she looked around finding a perfect spot high up in the walls of the cave, singing a spell to the vine to grow she directed it to reach for the spot she had in mind. Cinder gently took Adains jaw in her hand and kissed him softly " i will be fine Adain she pointed to the spot she intended to stay and watch over Adain, her thoughts seemed to be on only his safety yet she felt so helpless her head spun and her stomic mucles seemed to pull at her. " Perhaps all i can do is pray and keep some spell focused in my mind " she said to him. I am sure something will come to me in the confusion that seems to be taking hold of my mind. She held his hand tight for a moment " Who knows maybe grandmother will pop in she seems to have something on her mind and does not seem to be concerned about what might be going on at any given time, she may even be able to help. She then released his hand looking him strieght in the eye " be safe dearest Adain ", and climbed the vine as it rapped itself around her to keep her hidden.

hiding her weariness, she moved into her position, to strike from the shadows with quick simple, but leathel strikes. and where she would not be in the crossfire of any spells.
moving as an omen of death, monshadow in her dominate left hand, she snuck up to the skeleton furthest from the door and struck. the holy light of the sword hacking into magically aminated bone. not destroyed it turned on her, to swing his greatsword, but the rogue ducked in time, Stealthwhisper coming in to strike as he slowed his momentum to block, and unable to keep up with her fast movements.
Zarae then danced out of range of another swing at her head, and in an instant vanished from sight again.

As the beings...whatever they were...turned to face Zarae's attack, Adian swept in with a roar, cloak billowing and his sword charged again with the Dark Maiden's light. His target was on the flank, leaving the rest wide open for Neriah and Sanisia's magic, and was in mid-turn when he struck.
The blade cut into unseen flesh but did not connect with the bone. It still felt it, though...it turned back on Adian, two pinpoints of red glowing like coals in the skull.
[b:3jjiin8w][i:3jjiin8w]"Die,"[/i:3jjiin8w][/b:3jjiin8w] it said in a commanding, hollow voice.
Adian's knees almost buckled as the chill of death closed around him. For a brief instant his light faltered and he staggered back slightly. The killing curse that struck him tried to sieze his heart, crush it's beat forever...but something loosened its grip. Death's touch was gently set aside by invisible hands, and the young palidin's eyes rose again to glare directly back into the gaze of the beast. He had little idea of what he was up against, but he was now supremely confident in his ability to fight back.
It was the death knight's turn to hesitate.

Cinder watching from her leafy postion on the cool walls of the cave not far from Adain. She had found a way to fix her pellts to some of her arrows. She aimed one between the beasts eyes that was focused on doing Adain what could be serious damage. In seconds the beast had a sun pellet beween his eyes , Cinder drew her bow and another followed just for good measure.
While Zarae, Adian, and Cinder dealt with their respective targets, Veraka, his mother, and Neriah opened up in engagement with the other deathknights. Neriah and Sanisa's combined magics became the bane of one of the Deathknights.
A fireball flew from Neriah's hand as she finished her spell casting, whilst Sanisa unleashed [i:223lbvgn]Prismatic Spray[/i:223lbvgn]. The spiraling rainbow colors flew at one of the deathknights, and impacted simultaneously with the fireball. Scorching heat and merciless acid gnawed at the single deathknight. The two armored bone-piles flanking the targeted deathknight raised their greatswords and rushed Neriah and Sanisa.
Veraka and Aurora followed up, charging one of the two onrushing skeletons. Veraka roared as he bashed into his target, shield leading, while Aurora darted off to the side, flanked Veraka's target, and unleashed her frost breath on its rear.
"[b:223lbvgn]You shall perish![/b:223lbvgn]" the deathknight barked, its tone acid and poison mixing together.
"Perhaps," grunted the huge platinum armored paladin, his sword braced up against the deathknight's hulking greatsword; "but not by your undead hand!!"
With a growl, Veraka shoved the skeleton backwards, and summoned a [i:223lbvgn]Chain Lighting[/i:223lbvgn] from his repertoire of storm based spells. Lighting crackled, hissed and arced around the paladin's bastard sword. Veraka then threw Marala Vharc into a wide arc and spun about, executing a very precise Whirlwind attack upon the Deathknight. Marala Vharc connected with the undead and sent the bolt of charged electricity jumping over the deathknight.
The lighting bolt jumped from the first deathknight to the closest one next to it, and fried the skeleton with jolting currents of power.

The brief glaring contest between Adian and the Deathknight was broken by Cinder's dazzling flare. Once again Adian was blinded by the sudden explosion of near-daylight level bursts.
[i:1szdzh0v]I swear...didn't I say something about this? Something about warning me?[/i:1szdzh0v]
He shook off the headache and blinked furiously to try to see again. Fortunately the Deathknight hadn't liked the burst of light any more than Adian had. He leaped to attack and got in a solid blow to the creature's armored head.
The monster reeled back from the impact and gave Adian a second shot at the thing's chest. His blow rang against its armor and cracked it, its unholy nature left smoking by the power of Adian's sword. The deathknight summoned a ball of fire into its fleshless hand to cast at its attackers...and Adian promptly lopped its hand off.
The deathknight swung its two-handed sword around at Adian to drive him back. It only had its one hand, so Adian was able to duck the clumsy swing and continued his attack.
[i:1szdzh0v]Take the initiative and keep it...[/i:1szdzh0v]
Adian was faster than the fallen knight, which was further hampered by its missing hand, and seemed to be getting two blows in for every one the thing aimed at him.

Cinder glarred at Adain hearing him complain, forgetting again not to give him warning " Well it was just a quick responce " she responded with a snit in their personal comunications. " I was focused on my aim, I suppose " she pouted slightly " I will try be more thoughtfull in the future " she said with a humff under her breath.
Leaning back to take a breath behind the vines hoping not to be noticed she was tryed design a perch that was illusive to the death knights perseptions, she was satisfied she was well hidden, her mind power was strong enough to not be detected by the beings or what ever was behind them. Cinder focused her phycic abilities on Adain so it was easyer to discuse and control.
She perred throw the vines, there was another moving in Adains direction ... " I'll aim for his spine she said there is one moving in your direction to your right "
She pulled on her bow string, this arrow also had an pellet attached on it's end. She only had about 5 left so they had to count.
There seemed to be enough light boncing around down there with Verake, his wife and mothers spells. But her shear scarf gave her some protection but focusing on her target was not so easy in all the rainbow light, fire and lightning. She said a prayer to Eilistraee asking her to give Adain some protection for his eyes as she knew it could very well be starting to sting his sensitive eyes being in the middle it all. When her arrow hit its mark she rested again trying to think of a way to protect Adain's eyes. She would think of something as she took some deep breath, so her head would not start spinning again from the strange dizzyness that kept coming over her.

when the last fell, she breath, heavy, a sigh of relief. tho she knew it would be short lived. once on the other side, that was it. they had taken this journey for the sake of Bitterleaf and its people. and little thought of how it would end...how would they get back again?
a small shiver ran down her spine, a sudden weariness flooded her. hand on the wall, she leaned heavily, but with every attempt to conceal such. a small pang of sadness as she knew the enemy had defeated it.
"lets...see about this door shall we?" not letting her eyes be seen should any read them. for they had grown amberish color.
((have to look up how wards on doors work. or how this one can work. its gunna be powerful and constrained for time...a challenge.
if yall know, feel free to suggest.))

Cinder rested her head against the vines breathing deeply, a weakness came over her she knew she could not be much help at the moment, it was just as well that things were starting to wined down.
She was thinking about her grandmother wondering what she had spoken about earlier, perhaps she had learnt something about the cryatals. I wonder what is keeping her she said she would arrive in a short wile.
The weakness coming over her was getting stronger and her tummy was starting to cramp she clung to the vine and curled up into a fetus position, tears ran down her checks.
She hummed to her self a song that her grandmother would sing to her when she was ill that allways gave her comfort. She would not cry out for help from her friends, they had to much in there hands right now. She could get throw this ... she knew it would pass. She focused a healing spelll on her tummy and heald it there gently but firmly.
She was suppose to be strong, she was suppose to be a sorce of streigth and protection for Adain. Why was this happening she wondered disappointed in her self. Perhaphs it was some wizard that was targeting her.
The vine seemed to be aware of what was happing with her it rapped it's self around her to comfort her. Cinder could feel the love of the leafy plant it seemed to lull her into a calmness that she was finding difficult to acheive her self.
Suddenly lady Suru appeared in a blue light befor her, her long deep blue hair covered her tiny torso that was naked but for a sheer green sift that hung to her ancles.
"Cinderannna my dear child " she wispered kneeling at her side.
Embracing her gently she reached into a pouch at her hip and took out a small clay jar pulling out the cork with her teeth.
She put it to Cinder's lips " take a small sip my dear girl " she siad
As She sipped on the sweet liquid she slowly started to recover.
She reached for her grand mother embracing her with great joy.
" Wha is wrong with me she asked her you must know is it from the injury I took when i was at the manor? " she asked. " You are not here to take me back are you? she asked hopefullly.
Lady Suru craddled her in her arms " there is no easy way to tell you child so i will not mince words ... you carry twins one a girl and one a by child."
Cinder's eyes were in shock, she stared for a moment into space in disbeilf.
She sat up her eyes moved down to Adain as she peered throw the vines that were losening there embrace on her.
" Here Now in the middle of a battle "

Adian didn't hesitate. He struck with his bastard sword, the blade ablaze with the light of the goddess, with a straight overhead chop. The helm, the skull, and the upper third of the monster came apart. The unnatural forces animating and protecting it simply melted away. The pile of bones and ruined armor was all that remained of the thing.
He looked around, ready to fight...and discovered that any attempt by him to engage the remainder would be extremely hazardous. The storm warrior seemed to have everything well in hand. He lifted his arm to protect his eyes as the lightning burned through the remaining deathknights,
