OOC: Sounds like a tough gig. I can't be bothered to tell the story again so just go and read it on page seven of The dance hall. Basically jhe leaves out the circumstances of his turning, his life before turning and all the things he might have done to make up for his crimes. He also doesn't mention that he released his captives or the reason why he did so.
IC: The vampire is surprised as the members of the council come forth from their portals given their wide variety (and that they don;t fight like cat and dog), especially when Lillith steps into the light and is named; but looks on impassively as his charges are announced. "I apologise to the council for my lack of a name, it is as a direct result of my crime that I cannot remember it. If it pleases the council to place on me a suitable moniker to be used until I am punished then so be it. Firstly though I must plead innocent on the charge of murder for when you have heard my story you would think it more a kin to genocide!" He looks down slightly ashamedly but then goes into his story.

Mara and the council members sit quietly and listen to the vampire, when he is finished Mara speaks up,
"Do any of the council members wish to cross reference the defendant?"
The vampire stands up,
"I do,your majesty."
"Step forward."
She says.
He steps up to the defendant and says,
"You mentioned nothing about your turning. To clarify for the rest of the council , I am referring to the incident that made him a vampire. What I wish to know exactly is who was your maker, and if this maker abandoned you."
The elven council member stands up,
"I object. What is the relevance for this question?"
"Please clarify."
The princess says,
The vampire nods,
"A vampire who is turned and then abandoned has no guidance, and therefore little to no control over his or her actions. If this one was, in fact, abandoned by his maker, then he had no control over the beast within, and would be prone to actions that he might not have done other wise."
"Objection overruled. The defendant may answer the question."

When Ibn sees the illithyri queen, she bows her head to her. A lot of royalty and even more, a lot of important people she's seing in such a short time. She never expected that, and she feels like a little girl surrounded by adults. For the first time since she got to the castle, her face looks so serious.
Ibn seats where they show her in the back, between the two drows, and listens carefully. When the vampire elder talks and asks his question she just mutters "Good question" mostly to herself, but in a tone that only the ones at her sides could listen.

The vampire looks straight ahead as he answers the vampire elder's question. "I served as the lieutenant of my creator for many years before she was destroyed along with the rest of her foul brood by the family of your kin I mentioned before." Not a flicker of compassion or remorse crosses his face which remains completely neutral. He seems completely composed as he throws himself to the proverbial wolves.

[color=midnightblue:c2p5yges]Raven looks at the coucil as they come through, his eyes kinda taking on a strange light at the sight of the Balor, and his hands clenching, but he gets himself under control, realizing just what the great demon could do to him, and how easily it could do it. Walking with the rest of them to the seats at the back, he takes a chair and then puts on a bored expression, although his eyes and ears are catching everything said and done without seeming too.
As the questioning begins, he focuses more on the people talking than anything else in the room, even though his eyes are roaming about from time to time, he listens for the nuances in the voice of the vampire. So far, all he can really determine is that the man is telling the truth, and Raven awaits the whole story to be told.[/color:c2p5yges]

The vampire nods,
"I have no further questions."
He says,
"Then does anyone else from the council wish to speak?"
The unicorn lets loose a soft whinny and shakes her white head.
"Step forward,Glitterhorn, although I believe it would be easier for all if you took another form that allows you to speak common."
The unicorn nods again, and steps away from the table.A bright white light grows up around the creature, hiding it from view. When the light subsides a beautiful human woman is standing nude in the courtroom. She seems to be made of snow, for her skin and hair are just that white, but her eyes are the same silver as she had in her natural form. Her body is that of a woman's that has born a child, curvy and slightly plump. But upon her forehead is a strange marking, a spiral, right where her horn would be.At noticing the amused stares from the other council members, her white cheeks grow pink.
"Excuse me, I forgot about garments."Her voice when she speaks is as sweet and clear as a bell.
A nymaru guardsman steps out from the back bearing a simple white robe.
"Thank you,Keldron, I see you have not forgotten the last council meeting."
The unicorn says, smiling, as she pulls the robe on, covering her voluptious form.
The guard just smiles and steps back, away from the council table.
She steps closer to the vampire,
"One of the powers of my kind is that we are capable of reading a persons truest intent, the sole purpose of their inner self.We can do this better than even the highest of priests and priestess's , for , unlike them, we are completely pure of heart. When I first saw you I saw something that no one else here can.I see your aura, your hearts innermost desires and the true nature of your character. You have done bad things, yes, your aura tells me this, but you are also in a great amount of inner pain.An agony like nothing I have ever seen before is etched in your aura, and with it a light like I have also never seen on a person who has been cursed like yourself. You have actually attempted to redeem yourself, haven't you?"

The vampire winces slightly at this question but continues in his completely composed voice. "I have tried yes, but not succeeded, I still thirst and while I thirst I shall commit more crimes." He looks away. " The crimes I have committed go beyond redemption." He says bitterly.

The unicorn whispers sweetly,in a voice so soft only the defendant can hear,
"Everyone who seeks redemption is worthy of it,the Willowsongs know this better than anyone else."
Then she looks up at Mara,
"I have no further questions, your majesty."
Glitterhorn steps back, and in a blinding flash of light takes her true form again. The robe she was wearing lays in a heap on the floor.SHe snags it with her horn and gives it back to the guard who originally handed it to her before taking her place at the council table.
"Does anyone else amongst the council wish to question the defendant?"
Mara says,no one responds. She turns then to the people sitting on the bench ,
"These people have joined us from the outside,"
She says to the council,
"I thought they could bring us a fresh, unbiased perspective on this case.Ibn, Stargazer,Makasta,do any of you wish to question the defendant?"

Ibn bites her lower lip and chuckles slightly.
"With all my respect. I have one question. I also think everyone that actively seeks for redemption does deserve it, but my question is..." she looks at the vampire that's being judged "According to you, what would be a proper punishment for all that you did?"

Ibn smirks, looking directly at the judged man and now her expression is severe, more than serious. This is something not usual in her, even when that's exactly the answer she was expecting.
"Death. Right. What an easy way out" she says in a low and respectfull tone. Her hands are closed in a fist, and are blazed in a faint blue fire. She takes a deep breath and relaxes, and the blue fire fades into nothing, leaving her hands without any burning. Unharmed.
"I have no more questions. I don't know about my friends" she says and pouts and then looks to her feet.

Makasta takes his cloak off, standing with a grim but determined expression on his face. " I agree with Ibn, extermination would be FAR too easy a way out." Makasta looks each council member straight in the eyes and says. " No, i am certain that they shall rule that given such circumstances an... Atonement should be granted. If i may add from my personal experience that often times a god given quest known formally as a Geas be bestowed upon him. Such quests are never easy, and often brings some semblance of peace to the person quested." Looks at the other companions sitting near by, makasta's eyes glaze over slightly. Blinking briefly speaks again " My lords an' ladies i am most certainly no Justicar but this or something like it seems the best course of action. That is all i have to say." Sitting down briskly, eyes are forward, back straight and hands clenched tightly as though around a blade of sorts. It seems that even though the balor is not intending a fearful effect that it is bothering makasta. Or perhaps the balor did not feel such 'advice' was wanted and such sent out a vibe of seething fear.

Mara nods, as it seems that no one else has any questions,
"Then I will ask the council to bring forth their closing arguments.Who will speak as prosecutor?"
The elven cleric stands,
"I shall."
"Then make your statement."
The elven woman nods and steps forward, turning to face the council and the people sitting in the back, she speaks in a stern voice that carries out to fill the room.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the council, honored guests, you see before you a vampire.A blight upon the living and an insult to the great God Kelemvore. He has confessed to the murder of men, women, and even small children in a quest to raise his own power. He cannot even give us a number for the many innocent lives that have fallen before his hideous thirst. The nymaru he has slain are a precious gift to Faerun, a gift from the Gods themselves, sent to aid our land, and this one..."
She glares viciously at the vampire,
"Has slaughtered them like cattle.I say we allow no such abomination to continue in our land.May the ladies and gentlemen hear keep his horrible crimes well in mind when we judge him, and keep in mind the potential he bears for causing further harm.He knows the location on the isle, if he is released what will stop him from venturing to their very own safe place and hunting them down?"
She stops then, looking about the room as if to persue the effects her statement made.
"The prosecution rests."
She says to the princess , who nods and says,
"Take your seat.Who will speak for the defence?"
The vampire stands up, but a small voice pipes up from the back,
"Wait.."
It is the nymaru, Tempest, who had brought the vampire in for judgement. She has been standing silently in a corner throughout the precedings but is striding forward now ,towards the throne.
"I would speak as defence, your majesty."
Mara smiles gently at the other nymaru,
"I know you would,Tempest, for I and anyone else who has eyes that understand what it means, can see the glow of your pendant beneath your shirt.I am sorry ,Tempest, but your position is far to biased. You may not speak as defence."
Mara turns to look at the vampire, who nods and walks up to face the crowd.Tempest looks miserable and defeated, but she returns back to her corner.
The vampire looks out over the crowd,
"There are few who can truly understand the power of the bloodlust, and what it can do to you.Even fewer who can understand what being turned by an evil master does, how it rips away all vestiges of the humane being you may have been.Far fewer than that who can manage to pry away from the monstrosity you become when you are turned into a vampire. This man ..."
He points to the nameless vampire,
"Has managed to push back his beast, he has managed to clear away the fog of his own taint and see his actions as they truly were.He stands here , having brought himself top judgement in an isle he knew he would be hated, and perhaps killed ,on sight. This is the act of an extremely courageous man, a man who truly seeks redemption. Is it not one of the creeds of the Willowsong family that all are worthy of redemption, if they only seek it out?Have not the Willowsong family even taken in, as family , as a dearly beloved member, a pit fire dragon whose evil deeds before his embrace by the family brought light into his once tarnished soul?If this is possible, then what could be possible for this one? This vampire who has fought his bloodlust for so long, and more than likely did more deeds for redemption than he has told us of.I say we give him mercy and see.."
He looks then at the nymaru woman, Tempest, who is silently weeping in her corner,
"If the power of love is strong enough to redeem yet another lost soul."
He stands quietly a moment as if in reverence for what he has said,
"The defense rests."
Mara speaks up, as the vampire takes his seat,
"You have heard the closing arguments, and now, by the power invested in me by my mother the queen,I put forth the punishments to be voted upon. But it is up to you, the council, and our honored guests, to decide what fate he shall recieve."
Two guardsmen walk out bearing a large basket. They place it on the floor before the princess and step back.
"Inside this basket,"
Mara says,
"Are tiles. Some are black and some are red.The black tiles represent execution, the red tiles represent Final Judgement."
Some of the council members gasp when she says the latter, but she continues,
"Everyone, with the exception of myself, will choose a tile. When we have all drawn, we shall lay them on the council table and see the fate of the vampire.I would ask my honored guests to come forth first and choose their tile.'
