The place was a magical lab...but one suitable for something completely alien. Odd tools and apparatus were all scattered over low tables and even the floor. Diagrams and calculations were scattered about but they were not in any language anyone recognized.

There was a depiction of a large, multi-faceted crystal with detailed measurements of its planes and angles resting on one of the tables, and a number of books...some which were written in mortal languages, some in the strange tongue of the monster (presumably).

As the group entered, Adian shook his head.

"There is a sort of generalized malice about the place," he said. "That thing had very foul intentions for its work here, but I don't feel any actively malicious entities in here..."

As he spoke the walls on either side of the room seemed to move and reshape themselves. Two shapes, roughly humanoid but seemingly composed of clusters of rock, emerged from stone of the walls. They stood silently, waiting.

"...but I could be wrong," Adian said.

The elementals waited silently for something...but what?

Cinder felt a serge from Adain that she could not translate.
But something he was uncertain how to deal with was around him.
She calmly got up, her arrows now all cleaned and ready for another round. " come with me Meldrinus we better see what is going on with Adain ". Being in the presants of the solor calmed her, with Meldrinus following she lead him to the entrance of the lab they had found.

" Stay here for now Meldrinus " she said softly to her friend.
she entered and stood beside Adain her eyes cought the books on the table. What ever the oddly shaped stone beings were did not at lets at this time seem a threat. She walked over to the table and looked through the books. " I see " she said. she picked up a chart reading it's angles. She pulled out a large moon stone from her around her neck and held it breathing deeply she spoke in a musical tone.
In a shivering mist a beautiful moon elf stood. Her blue saphire skin was an unusual bright tone, her long straight white hair feel to her knees. She wore a white safon shift that fell to her ankles with a moonstone and silver belt around her small waist. Her feet were bare. " Cinderanna " she reach out her arms as Cinder embraced her. " This is my grandmother Barroness Suru Sundue, these are my friends umma, Adain, Verake and Zarae. "
Her grand mother looked deeply into Adains eyes. " I see " she said " this is your young man ". And I am very pleased to meet you Verake and Zarae. " she continued to stare at Adain. I called my grandmother beause these book and charts may be of interest to the fellowship of the forgotten flower of which she is a commity member that may be able to interperate this work these books may be of great interest to them.
Suru Sundue inclind her head to Adain, " I hope i will have the pleasure of your company some day at my moutain home in Evermeet. But with the permision of your group i would like to take take these books and charts with me to be interperated. Of course I will get back to you as soon as posible" she said politly

((next poster, give me a number tween 1-100; im gunna but a treasure in here to go with the rocks we need to get into the lake.))

Zarae was amazed at the lab, and she hadnt seen the other one either, so it was a bigger surprise to her. the elementals didnt attack right away.
"[i:2wo82kp2]are they on a trigger?[/i:2wo82kp2]" she asked in the silent hand code.
she kept an eye on them while looking over the things, not touching them yet; but the temptation was there! she doubted those [i:2wo82kp2]rocks [/i:2wo82kp2]they needed were in here; maybe a storage room in this lab? she prayed not an extra dimensional space, remembering a story she'd been told before from a friend. then the rogue went about looking for secret doors inside the lab.

"Keep in mind Adian, that that is what an evil entity would [b:1e49055i]want[/b:1e49055i] you to think," Veraka replied to the young paladin.

"Regardless, I feel that you are correct; this place reeks of the filth and malice around it."

The aasimar made a double note of stone elementals standing guard he would've assumed at least, that's what they were doing.

"If your guess proves incorrect, let me deal with the afterthought," Veraka said in an icy tone, indicating the elementals, or any other being that would be stupid enough to attack them at the moment.

When Cinder summoned her grandmother, Veraka merely raised a brow at her, but nonetheless, bowed to the Baroness, despite his rather stone-cold mood then.

"A pleasure to meet you, Baroness."
Noting her attention towards Adian, Veraka saw no need to continue and looked around, like Zarae, for anything that might be of use in their continuing search for the cave.

((if u might wanna randomly find a bit of treasure, give me a number tween 1-100))

the aasimir's eye might would have caught sight of something in the general idea he was looking. a curtain it seamed at first. but closer inspection would show a hood attached. (Cloak of resistance +1)[/size:3k80cmwj]
Zarae finally spotted the inconstancy of the wall, the slightest bit of disturbance in the floor. walking to it, she began searching it also for traps. but none were found. it likely guessed that the outer trap was enough, or this wasnt as important.
the rogue pushed on the wall, but nothing. 'figures it has a secret lever' she said to herself, as she went about looking for it. it could be anything, such as moving a bottle, to lamppost to pull on. and with the elementals in the room, playing with the toys would make this all the more annoying, yet intriguing to the drowess.

"E-evermeet?" Adian said, staring at the new arrival. "I shall certainly look forward to the day I see those shores! Are you sure you can translate all these? This is like no other language I've ever heard of in the Realms."

[i:3jvcqv23]I have no way of knowing,[/i:3jvcqv23] Adian signed back to Zarae. [i:3jvcqv23]Maybe a command word or something?[/i:3jvcqv23]

As soon as Zarae took a step towards one of the lab tables, the nearest stone elemental simply took a step and placed itself between her and the table. If she tried to move around it, it merely pivoted or shuffled as needed. It still did not attack.

((evermeets? cool, but if i remember correctly, NO drow are allowed, even good drow.
lets say their medium elemental, 8 ft tall since the ceiling is not much higher than V.))

the violet pools were now slowly returning to re normal as the elemental blocked her path to the table. she was sure the door opener was there. she could get past the elemenatal (shadow jump), yet the consequences of what it would do was on her mind. what trick would be best?
she didnt often use it, but she decided try it. she began shaping the darkness and shadows of the room with her mind into a humanoid figure, close proximity to her size and shape (summon shadow). if it focused on the shadow her, she might could slip by unnoticed. they werent usually very intelligent anyway. when the shadow appeared it stood in her place as she disappeared to begin moving behind the thing.

Cinder knew that there was something else on her grandmothers mind something she rather did not care for. " Umma I do not want to go back with you, is my place not here with Adain ".Her eyes went imediately to Adain.
Her grand mother turned to Adain " if the documents are to be translated it is with the council to which i serve, they are the best to be found. Cinderanna it is in your best interests to apprentance in this undertaking. Our Adains great task is still some time before him, you will be returned to him in weeks to come. Or if he so choses he may come to Evermeet as my guest, and bring his honorable friend if he is inclind to do so. There is not much that you have done that has not come to my attention and if I recall the noble Verake has offered to train you in swordmanship as well as further Adains skills, something you have neglected thus far Cinderanna. Perhaphs he would enjoy this in the mountain air of Evermeet on my estate ". Her grandmother insisted.

Cinders eyes met Adains with a great saddness her heart sank in a heaviness that she thought she could never bare. She knew she must do as her grandmother wished her to, and neither would Adain want her to be disloyal to her grandmother.

" Zerake am I to believe your Soler mother is presant here, I would be delighted to meet such a honorable lady, when she has brought your dear wife and child back to you. " Suru Sundue asked politely.

Adian's expression went from awestruck to just stricken. A young man suddenly losing the object of his first infatuation. A dozen objections came up at once in his mind...but Cinder's grandmother had a point. Several, in fact.

And so he managed to put on a brave face once past the initial shock.

"I...see," he said. "Well...at the moment I cannot come. I have a task here that remains to be done. Perhaps the opportunity will return that I might see the shores of Evermeet."

Meanwhile, the elemental either did not realize or completely ignored Zarae's shadow-ploy. It remained blocking her shadow, allowing her to slip invisibly past it.

Once that obstacle was passed, it was simplicity itself to find the switch for the hidden door she'd sensed. It had been built into the underside of one of the lab tables.

Cinder and your thoughts will allways be linked you will at lest be able to speak when you like. " You will find the oppertunity to visit when ever you find it convenent. "

Cinder was not happy but excepted what she must do.

Her grandmother found a chair and clapped her hands one of the books instantly appeared in her hands. " There is of coarse know rush as i said i would like to meet Veraks Mother.

Veraka listened to Cinder's grandmother with a relaxed calm, but that was a merely a gesture for everyone's sake; the aasimar was still very on edge from what had happened to Neriah.

[color=violet:q2p4vsnr]" Verake am I to believe your Solar mother is present here, I would be delighted to meet such a honorable lady, when she has brought your dear wife and child back to you. " Suru Sundue asked politely.[/color:q2p4vsnr]

Veraka looked Suru in the eyes and replied; " Yes madam; my mother is present and among our ranks." He left out the part of Neriah and his child. The aasimar looked away.
"I'm not sure how long it will take for my mother to revert the effects on my wife and . . . . my child," the last words he gulped down with a vengeance. What he would give to go at it again with that . . . [b:q2p4vsnr]thing[/b:q2p4vsnr]. If Suru, Adian, Cinderanna or even Meldrinnus, could look into his mind, they'd be quite taken aback by the thoughts that traversed there.

[i:q2p4vsnr]I don't blame you for wanting to hold that wriggling turd pile over an inferno and tear out its innards with your bare hands, little brother,[/i:q2p4vsnr] came Aurora's voice in Veraka's head. The great wolf padded up to him and sat down on her haunches.

"That's exactly what I'll do to the next person or thing that stands in our way; and I'm being merciful compared to what my darker side could do for revenge."

" Verake I know a wizard that maybe able to help I could somon him if you think it would help allthow i am sure your mother can handle it with out to much problem " Suru Sundue said looking at Verake with caring eyes.

Cinder could see that things were well in hand and she did not sence any real danger allthough her sences could very well be very confused by her sunkin heart. Besides her mother could do far more to help any matter that would arise.
She ran out of the lab and passed the balcony were she found a narrow hallway, she just wanted to be alone. Meldrinus followed of coarse. She found a large room with a fire place full of wood with comfortable chairs around it. She sat in one and spoke a fire spell and the flames appeared in the fireplace. She sat and started into them. Meldrinus stood behind her.
She would be leaving her new friends and Adain, it was only for a few weeks and she knew she would learn much to aid Adain. But she still felt a sadness she could not shake, ofcoarse Adain would be fine he had Verake. She hoped she would be able to say good bye to Neriah. She sat praying for the best out come for the women Verake loved so much.

turning the small lever, the grading of the door as it opened was heard.
then quickly moved from her position twords the door the was open.

Cinder stroked the fire, thinking deeply about the though of leaving Adain, it was painfull but she had to get control of her emotions.
She thought of being home with her grandmother and her childhood home, studing and learning the process of interperting the books and documents found, she knew it would be exciting and not to mention helpful at unravelling the mysteries it held. She got a hold of her emotions and was starting to get hungery, thinking the other must be to, after all they had not eaten since breakfast and it must be close to dawn by now.
She opened her mind to her grandmother and a basket of food appeared at her feet. She looked throw it to find what she could to start a meal with for her friends, who she was sure would appriate something warm. She found a metal plant holder and desided it would work well. She uttered a spell of water and cleaned it out, then fillled it with water and set it in the fire. Then looking throw the basket she found mushrooms and a broth with herbs and a few other vegtables that would work, there was plenty of bread and cheese and some spiced fish. She rolled up her sleves and got to to work. There was even some choclate candies that Zarae would be delighted to see.

"Steady, Veraka," Adian said, keeping his tone calm and even. "We know...but a clear head in needed now...finding out what that thing was up to."

He looked back at Cinder unhappily. Then at the portal Zarae had opened for them.

He had told her, right form the start, that his calling had to come first. That was his obligation for being what he was. But this was hurting...more than the fear he had felt when she had placed herself in danger for him.

"We just have to do what we have to," he said, trying to strengthen his resolve as much as Veraka's.
