" FIRE!! " she lashed out angerly, the lights bursted into flames and unleshed them selves at the shadow speedily. Cinder had time to quickly conjure a daylight spell and cover her eyes and they were all emerced in a bright light. Cinder shading her eyes looked at Adain who's eyes cought the light. " are you ever going to snap out of it " she yelled? " And went back to her prayers for aid from Eilistraee. the lights returned to her speeding around her she propley sent them back to aid the fish that was swirling throw the air trying to sheild the group from the rain of fire.

the shade screemed, well sorta, and charged. the rogue turned her eyes as the light surround the area she was in. the shade then somehow counteracted with darkness as his shadowy hand reached out. the rogue turned to move from the swipe, but it caught her shoulder. draining energy rushed through her body. and Zarae nearly fell to the cavern floor. she managed to roll out of the way, still weakened. a dagger released from her hand and at the shade. it did some damage but not much as it stuck fast in the wall. back-peddling, her hand went for the sword pendent, snapping it off and activating the magic of Moonshadow, it grew into a longsword. the magic cause it to throw a dull whitish light and cause the shade to shrink back from her. again she was thankful for having swipe the swords those few yrs ago. the (any type of) evil around would find it very uncomfortable as the words was (think mental simular to a holy sword) attacking it. she was still weak, but now the shade was weakening before her. puling forth energy deep inside of her she swung the keen blade to strike.

Whatever the result of his sweep of Veraka's leg, he was completely unprepared for the blaze of brilliant light set off by Cinder. His eyes stung and he couldn't see. He staggered back, blinking, trying to clear his sight and his sword held up defensively.

[i:1hwbp7nz]Get out of my mind![/i:1hwbp7nz]

Adian wrestled with the unknown thing in his head, and very slightly something began to give. He redoubled his efforts, hammering at the mental intruder as it reeled from the eye-burning (to him) light. Never before had he been glad he had not adapted to the surface sun.

Veraka kept up on the defensive against Adian, his shield blocking whatever and whichever of they young drow's attacks that he could, while Marala Vharc lashed out occasionally, assaulting Adian as he continuously hammered the aasimar with his magical sword.

Then, the paladin was out of Veraka's field of vision. The aasimar didn't know what to think or where to look right as an arc of pain lanced through his leg. Veraka let out a cry of agony as he went down on his good knee.

He found himself looking into his friend's eyes, with that sword pointed near him, right as the super-bright light flared from Cinder. Veraka, unable to shield his eyes, stoically absorbed the energy from the light with his vision.

Neriah, tracing Aurora as the white wolf leapt, bound and dove over and around obstacles that were within her path, continued to hound the great wolf right as Cinder's conjured light radiated outwards and into her eyes. The fey'ri hissed lightly as she brought up her hand to shield her eyes; but that reaction was instantly canceled out as she heard the voice of her lover and husband cry out, his pain audible and very real. Her heart leapt from her chest as Neriah raced toward the source of the cry of agony. She came upon young Adian, clutching his sword, but also his eyes.

Within an instant, she recited the words for her earlier spell, wove her arms through the proper gestures as she summoned her natural magical talent and cast Magic Circle against Evil[/url:47tletwd].
Her slender hand reached out while the young paladin was stunned from Cinder's daylight spell and touched Adian on the forehead. Within and instant, he would feel himself again as the magic would repel any mental control that the evil presence had on the young paladin.

Neriah looked to Adian, her crimson eyes looking at the young paladin with concern and worry; "are you alright, and does that . . . . . " her words trialed off as she saw her husband bent down on one knee, his own red life fluids spilling out from under his deeply gashed knee-backside.
"Veraka!" she shouted in worry, running over to the aasimar's side and casting a healing spell onto him.

"I'm alright, sweetheart; just a bit cut up. Nothing at all. Adian, does that . . that [b:47tletwd]presence[/b:47tletwd] have any more of a hold over you?" he asked, turning to Adian, hoping that the young drow now had control over his body. Should he not, a certain, very large white furball was ready to launch a take-down from nearby.

Adian blinked and stared around. He was back. His body was his again.

"Yes," he said, nodding and sheathing his sword by habit. "By the Lady, that thing...it wasn't anything even remotely human. What...Veraka!"

He dropped to his knee beside the aasamar and saw the wound he'd inflicted. Dismay came over his face as he realized what he had done.

Acting out of reflex, he reached out to the big man's leg.

"Eilistraee, Maiden of the Dance, let your hand ease the pain of the motral world and bless us with your divine mercy..."

The injury began to close immediately, the blood slowing to a trickle and stopping.

Cinder opened her eyes and saw Adain healing Verakes wound and realized he was back to himself, she ran to his side and taking a deap breath off releaf rapped her arms around him " are you all right Adain ? " she looked up at him and pushed his hair from his face.
" Thank the maid you are back with us " she dropped her head on his chest in relief.

Adian nodded.

"I'm back," he said with a shudder. "There was something...monstrous in my head."

Suddenly his head snapped up and his eyes widened. The shade that had been pursuing Cinder was coming down the hall...weakened from Cinder's flare but it was not stopped.

"Look out!" he shouted as the thing bore down on them.

Cinder fell to the ground on her knees touching Adains sword with the light spell so he could strike with his sword, spinning around to meet the shadow with her daggers calling the lights back " Fire!! " they immediatly swung around turning to fire striking the shadow from the back weaking it. She spun out of Adains way keeping low with her daggers slicing throw the air toward the shadow.

Adian followed up on Cinder's attack with his light-blessed weapon as easily as though they had practiced it. His enchanted sword struck the thing squarely through the torso.

"Ssussun plynn dos!" he shouted.

The light blazed brighter and Adian had to shut his sensitive eyes.

((well just say there two shades then. make it easiest on all. if my writting or words are confusing, please let me know so i can fix it. i do wanna keep this enjoyable and such, and not have anyone upset.))

her blade hit hard, the scream of the shade loud inside her mind that it felt like a pressure cooker, ready to explode. it moved away, seriously injured, but not before it got a final swipe at the rogue. then gone.
Zarae still clutching the precious sword felt the floor coming to meet her. she was conscious, but injured, and alone at the moment. she heard the noise of the other in the distance, down another tunnel. laying there she tried to move, tried to get up before it returned, but the stupid thing had gotten her good. and withing seconds the will to continue faded. doubts, flooded her mind; eyes were pale, and yellowish. her last bit of strength gone. her grip loosened on Moonshadow slowly as she laid as a crumpled heap on the cavern floor. the sword almost screamed of danger near by, it warning now going unheard. any moment now it could return.

Veraka felt his wound start to seal up as the healing spells from both Neriah and Adian took effect. The aasimar looked up into the young paladin's eyes and nodded his thanks to Adian.

Feeling that his leg was fully sealed and ready for use, Veraka stepped on it and pushed himself up to his massive 6'7" height.
"Yes, my friend; you're right, there was something in your head. Something of which I fear may be. . . " the aasimar's words were cut short as Adian shouted his warning to Cinder and slashed at the incoming two shade.

Neriah's eyes suddenly flashed wide; "Zarae," she breathed outwardly.

Veraka growled as the situation was rapidly turning from good to bad; "Enough of this," he barked, bringing Marala Vharc up into both of his armored hands, the aasimar cast [b:2nw6peyr]Holy Smite[/url:2nw6peyr][/b:2nw6peyr] upon the area. His sword glowed with divine energy, that pent up and kept charging until he released it a burst. Light blazed from Marala Vharc as Veraka blasted the area around him (20 ft radius) with holy power, which would inflict heavy damage upon the shade that both Adian and Cinder were striking at, and possibly even blind it.

"We don't have time for this shit. Aurora, help them out," Veraka shouted to the white wolf, all the while turning to his wife; "let's go."

With that both aasimar and fey'ri took off down the tunnel towards where Cinder had come from. Veraka charging up Marala Vharc with electrical energy, while Neriah prepared a few spells that she thought might be needed.
((Not sure where you are, Zar, so I'll let you describe that when V and Neri arrive))

The two arrived to see Zarae collapse onto the floor, her small frame not able to hold her up any more. Neriah knelt down, casting a [b:2nw6peyr]Magic Circle against Evil[/url:2nw6peyr][/b:2nw6peyr]
upon Zarae, whilst Veraka took up a watching position, near her, his silver eyes blazing with built up wrath, searching for the monster who had done this.
"Veraka, do you have one of those healing potions on yourself?" Neriah asked the aasimar, her tail twitching with anxiety.

Veraka nodded and withdrew one of the potions from a pouch on his belt, it's white contents glowing faintly at the healing power held within. Giving the potion to his wife, Veraka watched as the fey'ri gently poured the contents of healing potion down Zarae's throat.

"Come on!"

Adian called to Cinder as he went to aid Veraka and his wife protecting Zarae. The shade that he had struck had been utterly destroyed by Veraka's smiting, and now it was Zarae who was in trouble.

This was unacceptable. They were being kept on the defensive. It was time to take the fight to it. He opened up his senses and looked around with his Sight (Detect Evil), trying to pinpoint their unseen attacker. It had to be watching them, so it was almost certainly nearby.

((no, expired while ago. lets say shes down another tunnel))

beging picked up into position for the potion, cause the rogue to drop her grip and clacked on the floor. the dull silvery light faded. she coughed somewhat as the cool liquid ran down her throat, and she managed enough will to swallow it before it went down her bronchial tube. she could feel the strength running thru her, healing any wounds, but what it sapped from her was not so quick in returning (pure negative energy i think).
she didnt move, just was there looking off blankly into the darkness of the cavern.

the beast was not too far off, infact surprisingly close. (cavern above. tho im not sure how that spell works exactly to even begin to discribe it) it began a new spell and with no need for componets or even movements, it was a matter of seconds when a large etheral like had appeared and grappled Adian ( http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/crushingHand.htm )

Adian's head snapped upwards when he caught a sense of the thing's location. Close by! It was right above...

Before he could say a word the hand grabbed him. His breath was almost crushed from his chest. The dark elf fought back, grappling with the thing and fighting to keep it from crushing his body into jelly. He wasn't in Veraka's league, but he was stronger than even many females of his kin. He was able to hold the cursed thing off for the moment, but that wouldn't last long. He might eb able to hold out a minute...maybe two...before the hand crushed him into jelly.
