Shores of Dispair (part 6)

((OOC:Alright, Adian, I'm gonna assume that this is some prefabricated set up here for you IC; if it isn't let me know via PM))
Veraka saw what outlined young Adian as the drow leaned up against the door.
"Adian; get away from there!" was all that came from the aasimar as he surged forward with all his strength, his exceptionally-muscled legs propelling him straight into the door that the young paladin was braced up against.
Drawing Marala Vharc from its sheath, Veraka jumped up with one armored boot and kicked at the door, all of his momentum transferring over into his sole. The cracked door flew open under the weight of the massive aasimar.
Surprised as Adian might be, Veraka continued to look at the young paladin with his silver eyes glowing, wanting, hoping that his aura would change.

" No Adain " she shouted. she ideified the sourse that drain him drawing from her own hidden reserves a gold light emerced her eyes glared white, she foucused on the ruins on his armor and muttered a combinatin from its magic the light swirled around him singing throw the riuns enforcing an aura of protection, she ran to him shelding him and leshed out a force in its direction. the ruins took action switly and pulled back the violet lights combinding with the gold spun into a fury and ran down the blade of Adains sword. Cinder turned to Zarae and quickly pushed the lights in her direction to protect her as well. She reached for her daggers that were emerced in the combined eneries of her own and Adains.

Adian was practically hurled aside by the big aasimar, but kept his feet. With the destruction of the door, the magical fire trap went off. Where Adian would have stood had he not been stopped, there was a raging inferno. The blast dissipated almost immediately, harmlessly cascading off Veraka's armor and the protective magics Cinder had cast on the young drow.
Adian and most of the others couldn't see it, but the violet glow around him had returned...but not as strongly as before. There were still streaks of black that coursed through it here and there. Adian was out of immediate danger, but he was still at risk.
"S-sorry," he stammered, staring at the black scorch mark where he had been a second before. He felt stupid...as though he should have anticipated such a trap in a mage's lair.

Cinder energy sored deep into the ground as she searched desperetly, swirling red lights came speedily through the floor of the cave and danced around the room following the lights came a blazing light in the form of a sturgeon, Cinder directed it to the fire. It wiggled through the air the red lights following it and went toward the fire swirling through it devoring the fire and evil in the room completly then disappeared.
Cinder turnrd to Adain rapping her arms around him as the violet light built and the blackness slowly vanished.
" Why would you possibly be sorry it evaded all our sences except for Verake " She rushed to Verake and flug her arms around him " Thank you Verake " she said with tears running down her checks.
She returned to Adains side and guided him to a couch, he was weakened by the blast and the blackness that had emerced him.
" Sit down and rest untile you are rejuvenated. " she sank into the couch beside him and dropped her head on his shoulder.

Neriah and Aurora came running over to Veraka as the inferno magic trap went off, though the aasimar shrugged it off as if it was a scratch.
"How am I going to live if you keep go careening into danger like that," the fey'ri cried, a look of worry on her face as she saw Cinder run up and embrace Veraka in a hug for keeping Adian from getting himself fried within that instance.
The mighty aasimar looked to Cinder and replied "No worries; I'm just doing what I'm sworn to do," as he returned her hug. Then he turned to Adian and said "my friend, don't worry about it. I've been granted my celestial abilities for a reason, I can't let that go rolling down the river, now can I? Especially when you have a feminine charmer who cares a great deal about you, eh?"
He indicated Cinder with his gloved hand leaning up against the paladin's shoulder.
"Besides, your a fellow warrior, who like myself is sworn to protect those who are innocent and good, are you not. That oath makes you as much of a brother to me, in my eyes, as Aurora is my family as well."
"And what am [b:9stxdyda]I[/b:9stxdyda] supposed to do when you go and get killed protecting someone else, when your family, [b:9stxdyda]your[/b:9stxdyda] family," Neriah emphasized herself and their child that she was carrying, "is right here in front of you, huh?"
Veraka turned around and immediately wrapped his arms around the fuming, and worried-sick, fey'ri. Neriah reacted by just accepting the embrace, knowing full-well that her husband was there and safe from danger.
"I know, I know; but that is what I do, remember. As a paladin, my sworn duty is to protect the innocent, wherever danger may be."
Neriah returned the aasimar's affection two-fold, wrapping her own arms around his neck and coming up to give him a passionate kiss. When she finally released him from her lips, she said "but isn't your family, first among all on that list?"
Veraka smiled and nodded.
"Yes, you and our child are first among that list. . . "
[i:9stxdyda]HEEYY!!!! And what of your favorite and only older sister, hmm?[/i:9stxdyda] Aurora asked, making a [url=http://veraka.deviantart.com/favourites ... 0:9stxdyda]funny face[/url:9stxdyda] ((the one on the right)) toward her little aasimar brother.
Neriah burst out with giggles at Aurora as Veraka gave the great wolf a raised brow with a smirk on his face; "always the goof, ehh, furball?"
[i:9stxdyda]Only when you two get all 'lovey, dovey on me,[/i:9stxdyda] Aurora replied, still maintaining her funny face.

" If you are sure then Adain " she said " lets go into the room and see what this mage wanted to keep us from. " she took a deep breath clearing her mind from distraction and opened her sences determed not to be fooled again. " i think the room should be cleared of danger now, but we will have to keep our wits sharp to what ever danger might be thrown our way. She looked him over " your aura is cleared now so your sences should be back to normal. " She stayed close to him as he moved toward the door.

the rogue was very frustrated to have missed that trap. and she had not noticed the aura change, and had been in position to help first, all of it sat heavy on her shoulders. she hid it with business as the others were about tending to the paladin. to some it might have looked uncaring, but she didnt know how to deal with the frustration, the failure of missing that trap. only one astute at knowing people and getting to the underlining issue would sense it.
not only was traveling with her dangerous, now she'd put lives at risk because of her failures. so her attention was at this door and searching for more surprises as she entered before the others made way over their. (so assume im heading down one by the time yall get to the door.) she tried to calm her mind before she made irrational decisions, so she didnt make any more mistakes.
the passage split into three paths equally spaced. she took the one infront of her, all the while searching for traps and dangerous. her mind continued hound her, remind her as she stealthily moved.
the essence of the being grew stronger as one moved down the passage. magical energies hitting like a wave, washing over and almost stunning one from thinking. irrational and illogical thoughts cascaded over those who entered these tunnels. fear, confusion, and chaos would characterize the mental attack, an battle one didnt know they were fighting. (think of it feeding off the biggest fears and such))

Closer examination of the fire trap indicated that the trap had in fact been an entire foot down the hall, so there had been no reasonable way for Zarae to have detected it.
Adian followed after Zarae, letting her take the lead while being within easy ability to defend her if needed.
He frowned as he entered the psionic effect. What was going on? Why was his concentration wandering? He could feel old fears and images from nightmares he'd had as a child coming to the surface of his thoughts.
He began to run through a usually fortifying chant of the Dark Lady in his mind, and the repetition steadied his hand. He could almost feel dark tendrils of malice trying to probe into his mind and stir up those old feelings and terrors, but his internal song kept the panic at bay.
Leaving him to wonder what was happening?

Cinder was concerned more with the blackness that was sreaming through the violet lights that incompaced Adain. She knew that what ever was amied at the group was the cause and it was strong. She knew how to reflect it from herself but at least she could keep her wits about her and focuse on trying to reflect it from him as well, she pushed at the blackness but it seemed to have quite a hold on the aura. She would have to try and sever the hold. She took out an golden amulete and said a prayer, she lached on to the dark streams working at it's hold slowly with the help of the amulate, wile keeping her self and Adain protected. what ever else was going on she had to ignore and keep her focus on Adain.
The aasimar looked to Adian, and simply shook his head; "Adian, try this; Gain another decade onto your very young life, get a couple of good scars to show off, and get married to a very loving, but chaotic and near crazy wife, who has the hots for you more than you initially predicted, AND have a furball companion who considers you a sibling, and mocks you for it, just because [b:fo8bruqa]she's[/b:fo8bruqa] older. Once you've gotten to the maried part, and she has to be a little crazy, but loving at the same time, [b:fo8bruqa]then[/b:fo8bruqa] we'll talk."
The platinum armored paladin folded his arms and grinned at the young drow.
This sent Neriah into a giggling fit and Aurora looked at Veraka with a brow raised, then turned to Adian; [i:fo8bruqa]You [b:fo8bruqa]do[/b:fo8bruqa] realize what my little brother just said for you to do, don't you?[/i:fo8bruqa]

Cinder senced a great danger ahead what ever was ahead was attemting to confuse and play on their fears, it was getting stonger she sheilded Adain and her self as best she could and prepaired for a more agressive attack. her bow was ready but she was sure she would have to draw on what ever magic she could conjure.
" Adain " she said " try and consintrate on more pleasant thoughts and keep it firmly in your mind. What ever is down there is going to throw something very dangerous at us it is only trying to catch us un prepared. "

((zar's a bit ahead everyone, just so u know. so it was intended yall didnt know which tunnel. but that ok. she sorta avoidong anyone at the moment.))
she followed the path further, it gradually descending into the earth. she heard the others not too far, but her quick pace kept her in front, and her companions able to still spot her as she had her hood off (tho rest of her heat singature is shielded by piwafwi). right now. it was better than facing anyone at the moment.
having lived in the city, the pressure of the rocks above shoulda been, nothing to her. yet it felt heavy and oppressive, even claustrophobic.
'get ahold of yourself. your losing it,' she said to herself.
the tunnel then stopped. like a dead end. she caught it despite the distraction in her head before smacking into it. in the distance, or so she reasoned, a 'noise'. her keen ears picking up the faintest rhythms. a tingling of magic yet almost overpowering, sense then hit everyone. a urge to obey mindlessly someone or something (mind domination). the ring on her finger seam to struggle to stop the attack, the sheer force almost getting past the defense.
those who failed (spell works) would feel mindless before an urge to attack a friend (if someone does fail the check, then this will be funny.)[/size:ibc2g64q]
it was near.
