The Vale of Shadow (Part 5)
Moderators: Shir'le E. Illios, Bhaern Quel
[i:1bjcdzzg]Time can heal all wounds; Zek; it's just a matter of whether or not you want it to and will let it. I know that when Veraka first saved my life as a pup, I desired vengeance agasint any and all winter wolves, just because I was different from them. Over time I suppose that I've just accepted the fact that I was different from the rest of my species and got on with my life; perhaps you can finally do the same.[/i:1bjcdzzg] The winter wolf looked at the ranger with her ice-blue eyes glowing, telling of her understanding.
The winter wolf, then, for the first time visibly seen, raised one of her brows at the ranger; [i:1bjcdzzg]persuade [b:1bjcdzzg]him[/b:1bjcdzzg] to move from her; if you haven't noticed, the young fey'ri has him pinned; though, perhaps I'm being too hard on her. I don't know her and I suppose Veraka 'does' have his ability to see others distinct auras for a reason; like you said earlier, perhaps she doesn't have a black heart; perhaps my little aasimar brother does see something in her. I truly don't know.[/i:1bjcdzzg]
While Aurora chatted with Zek, Veraka by this time had let the fey'ri drift off into reverie and was starting to fall asleep himself.
Neriah shifted a little bit in his embrace, waking him up, and keeping him alert. The aasimar looked down at the fey'ri whom was against his chest; [i:1bjcdzzg]why do I care for her all of sudden; it makes no sense. Inrii's right, she tried to kill me; and yet here I am, holding her against my chest-plate. What in the Nine Hells was going on with me.[/i:1bjcdzzg]

((...layover...so writting one last time...))
Inrii was walking, standing in a place of grey mist, darkness, emptiness. she stood there, alone. she looked around in attempt to understand her surroundings when a force more powerful than anything knocked her to her knees. a laugh, so evil, so cold, so familier...it stole her breath. she remembered it so vididly. for it hadnt stopped haunting her. in the shadows, a face began to form.
it was [i:29tz00h5]him[/i:29tz00h5]...
her flesh felt the presure of the hands holding her down. the pain of the blade seering into her flesh, cutting across her chest. she laid there before all, bare, helpless, weak.
he drew closer slimking twords her. he paused and with that smae smirk, attempted again to steal her last shred of innocence. pain surged thru her as he began his assult, over and over. and she could do nothing.
another face appeared, one familier yet distance. his eyes shifted colors and his hair was of a coppery tone. the male looked at her with disppointment and walked away.
a mist materialized again, this time a friendly face, then another, then a beast. Inrii call for help. they began making way to her, when the ranger paused, a dagger drawn behind his back. the warrior and wolf also paused, a wicked look on their faces. two more joined, 2 females of elven desent. one the presence of the lower planes on her. the other shadows. Inrii turned to look at the ranger, confusion apparent in her eyes. she tried to speak, to ask, when cold steel stole her breath. the dagger with lightning speed struck between the ribs and deep into her heart, then again it struck and with a twist and jerk it was free. blood poured and puddles as she fell back. her face of utter confusion, pain, shock. betrayel!
they had turned on her. and again there was nothingness. she held in her soft sobs of dispair while cluthing both wounds. Inrii began crawling along the formless ground. soft cries of help barely passed thru her lips.
what inrii thought was gunna be a peaceful sleep, turned out to be less so. Alya's spell working its way into her mind. she squirmed and moved in reaction to the dream, even screaming aloud. but she remained in the sleep. her hand were cluthing her chest as she cried out for help.
((nightmare spell, earlier link if curious))

Nodding slowly [i:1ann9gsb] Some wounds take longer, even if you were willing. And some scars remain as a reminder.[/i:1ann9gsb] Looking to Inrii for the moment and shrugged slightly. Watching the scene he motioned towards the two [i:1ann9gsb] Who knows Aurora, things work strangely in this world. I've long pondered things like that [/i:1ann9gsb] Looking at inrii again when she started to stirr from the dreams, he didn't mind but it was when the fits grew intense when he went to try to shake her awake. Muttering" This better be a flashback or something."

Aurora merely nodded towards the ranger, knowing what he meant by the comment. [i:2d21lkym]Well, at least he'll be doing what he prefers to do to help people.[/i:2d21lkym]
Veraka looked over to Zek when Inrii flew into a screaming frenzy, despite the fact that she was asleep. "I don't think it's a flashback; I'm getting this overwhelming feeling of depression and fear cast over us like a cloud of poison. I'm not sure what it is, but feels like a spell to me."
Right then, the fey'ri started to squirm and recoil in the aasimar's hands; "Well, whatever this spell or cloud is, it affects those who sleep, they start to either have nightmares or something of the like." He finished, though now, for some odd reason, Neriah stopped struggling when he embraced her once again.
"Strange," he said to himself.

((i need to rest before my [b:2syw4uvp]early [/b:2syw4uvp]flight into Port Au Prince, but i cant sleep. too much city noise! (cars, police, clubs...im gunna go nuts!))
it was hard to wake her from her nightmare. the dream taking her in deeper the longer she remained. and with a last sudden scream and jerking up from the ranger, Inrii awoke, trembling and clutching her chest as if she had to hold in her lifeblood. tho physically awake, she was still unware of anything and almost freaking out. it had been so real. he had just stabbed her.
(after some time calming her down.)
Inrii soon began to settle. tho her nerves were on edge. there was a fear in her eyes yet she tried to hide it. as she still sat next to Zek there, she was clutching the sheet hard.
wearniess hit hard on her. pain flared up in her chest (broken ribs still).
she was about to curl up into a ball, but (comfort? trouble? yall can decide. tho everyone will need to eat soon.)
((ok im funally gone. gunna try to sleep before we gotta do the customs things...shalom))

Nodding to Aurora his attention went right to Inrii at the new level and nodded as he'd catch hold of her and pulled her to him rubbing her back gently silently letting her curl up as she wished. Thinking for a long moment." It probably is.. how long can you stay awake for Veraka? Knowing how the thieves have behaved and the tricks? Take nothing for granted at this point. Things are going to get far uglier until this is resolved."

" Because we're going to have to keep awake, and alert until she's strong enough to fight. When she is we'll make the attack and finish this."

"Well, at least we both now know that we've got the rage to kill; at the very least, we've now both have a reason to go into our own rages, eh? In any case, though, I agree, the longer we can stay awake, the better off we'll be," he finished off, making sure that he and Aurora were both awake.
He jumped slightly when Neriah let loose a scream, one filled with of anger, fear, and sorrow. "Apparently, this blasted spell can even affect an elves reverie," Veraka said in blatantly.

Nodding slowly." I learned a long time ago, sleeping is not an overly great idea. I sleep when I'd have the chance just the the extra time. Meditation's kept me going, and I feel more alert afterwards." Eili just stared at him, she could feel something was wrong on the air, and it caused the hackles to rise slightly.[i:4tcz4zer] I'd sink my teeth and claws into her if I wasn't afraid of catching something. [/i:4tcz4zer] this brought him to chuckle slightly.

Veraka nodded his agreement with the ranger's comment; "being raised in the wild amongst barbarians, one tends to learn that sleeping in unknown, wild territory is a sure hearty way to die fast."
Aurora looked up at the ranger; [i:2adkgc5t]Zek, how did you come to have such feelings for Inrii, anyways? When we first met you, well, you weren't the Zek I now see in front of my eyes.[/i:2adkgc5t]

Nodding slightly he looked at Aurora and narrowed his eyes slightly." Why does it matter? I'm still the same zek. I don't know I suppose our pyro nut wore on me."

((noooo...all my work in typing was lost!
ok, im back in the states. tho not home yet, overnight layover...))
Inrii stirred. there was no telling how much time had past. her stomach growled slightly and her throat was parched. but she hadnt gain the rest needed to recuperate her spells or build up the magical reserve. she moved slightly an attempted yawn, but grimised in pain.
blinking in the dark room, she noticed the heat signatures of the two over on the parallel wall. she knew the other person. her eyes narrowed at her but she said nothing. Inrii was easy going and such, but she could (and would) hold a grudge. and an attempted on her life...
she tried to motivate herself to reach for her clothes and re-equip. sitting around clothess wasnt gunna help her much, much less her companions. but no motivation was forthcoming. she was rather comfortable, tho she did hurt, every where. the brusing and swelling in her face had gone down some. the marks on her body were slower to leave, however. and her small wrist and anckles had been rubbed so raw from the manacles.
she caught the last few phrases of the conversation with some interest. but just smiled slightly.
"no chance we stopped for dinner?" she attempted to jest.
((yall didnt get far this week....? should be home late tomarrow. so if i get a chance, i'll be on...tho not looking forward to packing our apartment to move now))

Hearing Inrii awaken somewhat from her slumber, Veraka looked around to see her staring at Neriah, who was resting on his breastplate. Right then, the young aasimar felt torn between his friendship towards Inrii, and his desire to help the fey'ri, whom he sensed was not completely consumed by her own darkness.
[i:yuos79u4]If Inrii is a true friend to you, regardless of whether or not that you have this desire to help this poor creature in your grasp, then she will understand the why of your reasoning, and if not, then she is more bull-headed than you are,[/i:yuos79u4] Aurora quietly put in through their telepathic link, her thoughts private to only Veraka and herself.
This little remark caused Veraka to smile lightly; sometimes he was truly astonished at Aurora's wisdom in such things; but the great wolf only spoke from her life's experience, much of which she had either witnessed from Veraka firsthand or lived through herself.
At Inrii's question, the aasimar replied "the food's in the kitchen; I didn't leave you any cookies, if that's what you're asking about."
