The Vale of Shadow (Part 3)

He nodded and looked to the two of them before they were in the abandoned house. When they were there he just grinned and unsheathed a dagger and moved to a shuttered window to check the lighting. looking to them he whispered" Lets go.. inrii snap out of it."

Inrii walked over to the same window to look out.
It was darker out now. and the streets were for the most part empty. a few more patrols were out, looking for fugitives. and of course city rogues out doing nightly business. the tavern was also busy for the night, drinking away worries and distracting themselves with other things.
"snap out of what?" she whispered back standing next to him at the window. she watched their movements. the patrol was nothing more than to make citizen feel safe. for they looked as nervous as townsfolk.

[veraka]

"Your dazed look that you seemed to be enveloped with until now," Veraka put in as he strode up to the window to have a look. He looked out, and had to grin, the Baelnorn had teleported them to a not-so-busy part of the city.

"Alright you two, I don't know what exactly you guys have in mind, but whatever it is, I say that when we decide to go after Alya and her boss, I say that we employ that little box of your's, Inrii, and bring 'em down crying. Zek, while I know that your skill lies in eqaul part with your blades and bow, if Inrii decides to use the box on our targets, would you be willing to go at a little two-on-one with me in there, I think Inrii will wanna settle a little score with Alya personally; and should things go bad for her, Aurora will be there at her six."

Nodding slowly he spoke" That's a good plan, I have a feeling they'll betray whom they can just to further their agendas.. More like Lolthites than anyone else. Besides, she can deal with Alya and we'll have fun with the other."

she had no retort for the comment. she would often get distracted when thinking deeply.
"there is a back way in. I used it to escape once. ironically I think the Masked Lord lead me to it last time I was here. long story. but it's in a building around here. the tunnel then leads into the back room of Raven's Claw."
Zarstra looked at her. she had been there for that trip. being used to lure the guild leader at the time, taken hostiage, nearly flattened, and even following a pecular drow male. of course the lizard had no idea who he had been.
"well, I reckon we start looking building by building...or, find someone connected to Raven's Claw among the shady folks. the tavern looks like the place to start."
This time, she wasnt gunna care about a disguise. she was gunna instill fear in their hearts and use her heritage and skin color to her advantage. with her hood lowered over her face, all that could be seen was the shadows and intense crimson orbs.

Veraka looked to Zek with a smirk; "well, that'll get interesting, a nimble ranger and an armored paladin to take down whatever Alya's mistress is. A merry time indeed."
He looked to Inrii, who had that look etched into her features; putting an armored hand on her shoulder, he said, "try not to get killed in there; I think there'd be more than one of us missing you." He smiled, letting her figure out the underlying complement.

The storm warrior looked to the tavern, "well if we're going to do this correct the first time around, then I say we split up; makes the work twice as easy, and should one of the groups get caught flat-footed, the other will still be out there."

Nodding some he chuckled at the idea" The blades need to feed" he mused some and thought for a moment." I'll handle the low life's.. I can usually extract information that I want.. afterall.. the merchant gave us information didn't he?"

Inrii jerked a bit as the arm came on her shoulder, but maintained her calm. she was usually a jumpy person with touch, and she wasnt sure where it came from. she looked at Veraka, "and whose gunna be doing the missing?" she turned back to the window before continung, "and if i recall correctly, here yall wanted a good time...tho I could find better ways..."

she led the way out thru the street to the Spoiled Princess.
the building was rundown looking, much like the slums. the stone had been repaired many times. the door was worn but brightly colored. the door opened as two exited, stareing the companions down before continuing down the alley.
inside multitude of spells filled the place, many intoxicating and illegal. the smoke was thick in the back corrner where many hooded figures sat.
a large table, opposite of the smokers, was full of laughing among other things. clearly there was no shame. two or three ladies went from table to table. a waitress walked by them, eying them as she continued her work.
some people were playing cards and other common gambling games. the barkeep was wiping the counter as a large thick built guy dragged a half drunk man away.

coughing at the smells and smoke, "well, here yall go."

He smiled some hearing her" That makes two of us there." He did not dwell or think of personal affairs. Nor did he really think of his emotions. Looking to them then to the bouncer then back." So, how would you like to do this? Human bartering ram?"

((by the way, not far from where i live, they found a live missile out in the creek bed....they ended up blowing it...totally cool. and why cant i find things like that in the yard?))

"if one of yall were female, I say you'd have a good enough way of getting it out of them," she said offhandedly.
Zarstra who was on her shoulder sneezed and decided to go to a safe place. "[i:4ha5g6sv]tell me when it's over. it smells funky in there.[/i:4ha5g6sv]"

Veraka followed the two into the smoke-filled building; taking quick notice of the big-man, who he guessed was the muscle of the establishment, he decided to tell the two something.

"Now that you mention it Zek, I believe some skull-bashing will do the big man well, and should he prove more than a little-difficult well, I guess he'll figure out why I was raised by Uthgardt the hard way," he grinned, stretching his limbs out, getting a resounding pop from most, if not all his joints.
"Been meaning to have a good brawl for a while now; well I don't know what's next on your target list, but you'd better deal with 'em now," Veraka mummered as the group started to attract more attention than he liked. He kept his eyes locked on the bouncer. The 6'7 aasimar was NOT intimidated by the big guy, kind of actually surprised to find someone, roughly, his height around the likes of this city.

Hearing the two of them he nodded and grinned slowly" Yeah, but I generally don't like touching the filth. Blades work well enough." Watching the scene of Veraka sizing the man up he spoke" Always a fun challenge." He knew his own strength, he never flaunted it nor did he ever show it physically in appearance. As the crowd forming he just smiled" This is going to be fun..."

many people began staring at them. they drew attention from more than the roughians. much of the ruckus quieted as they watched them enter and the bouncer head their way.
Inrii, standing behind the her companions, just vanished from sight and began to sneak around the tavern, trying to hold in her coughs. she saw a group that looked like what she needed, in the back corner.

the bouncer paused, dropping the guy hard. "i want no troubles here. you break it, I break you, got it?" he crossed his arms, almost challenging them. He looked back to confirm with his boss and turned to face the tall thick warrior and the skinny elven looking male. he was also watching the wolf come in and stand next to____.

the barkeep shook his head. he knew not to mess with the new comers. they fit the discription of those the guards wanted. and few people actually get up on that list like that. of course he knew tonight was gunna be trouble. no doubt someone would challenge them. so busy studying the group his did feel the hand go into the coin pouch and relieve him of some.

the waitress came over to them to offer a seat to the left side. her long chestnut brown hair flowed down framing her bronze oval face and highlighting her jade eyes. she wore a tawny leather bodice fastened with amber acorn clasps and a finely woven forest green woolen skirt. by human standards she was pretty. (copied from another RP. ) She smiled shyly to the males, "whaddayou'll have?"

the smokers in the back whispered among them selves.
"I think thats them. they were in the hall when she passed me to speak to them. but I dont see one of them, the female."
"well, what do we do?"
"I'm not messing with them. they brung that tower down."
"well, i want loot. boss is after us for not doing our jobs."

Veraka merely nodded at the bouncer, pretty sure that if worst came to worst, he'd be able to keep the bouncer busy long enough for Inrii and Zek to do what they did best.

"Zek, as much as we both want to have fun, let's try to save it for you-know-who; it'd be so much more fun if we both wait. After all, wouldn't want anything to happen to the fine lass like her," he whispered to the ranger, gesturing toward the waitress that he followed to be seated.

"As for him," he indicated the bouncer, "if we don't try and tear the place up, then I believe we'll both get our wishes. You can work your 'appropriate intelligence gathering' techniques on those assholes," he pointed a thumb at the wary-looking bunch, "and I still get to deliever a good one-two punch to the unfortunate brawler who decides to take things the wrong way." Sitting down at the table, he smirked at the thought of knocking some sense into one of the drunkards in the tavern.

Upon hearing the waitress ask them for what they wanted, the storm warrior spoke up; "I'll have a good ale, best one you've got."
Aurora sensed where Inrii had gone around to pilfer some unfortunate saps of their change; sending out a telepathic message to the Zarstra, the great wolf said [i:ywwgg20z]Zarstra, be prepared to throw some serious pyrotechnics should this little 'idea' of theirs decide to go south.[/i:ywwgg20z] The winter wolf plopped down next to Veraka, keeping her mind open as to where Inrii was should she require backup.

He looked at man whom probably had orc blood or something in him. Big, ugly stupid. Probably hard to articulate any lines with reasonable intelligence. Shrugging slowly he raised a brow and folded his arms over his chest as well the leather creaking. Muscles tensing up and the posture changed as he looked at the man." Only thing I'll break is the hand of one whom tries to steal from me, and that is being generous." He said flatly before sitting next to Veraka." Lets put it like this.. after what we went through? This should be a cakewalk. The two fiends? well it'll be fun." At the question he looked to the waitress he thought." If you have wine, the best you have, if not I'll go for mead, honey mead." Rare he drank but rarer still did he get drunk. Probably a good thing, as it could unlock murderous intentions.. bad for the town... very bad. Even if the whole town would look better a pile of smoldering rubble and ashes.
