The Vale of Shadow (Part 3)

"was this a wizard tower or druid's?" she pulled the box out.
they brung the four books together, arranged a certain way were the patterns and designs fit like a puzzle. soon they began to glow with a dull green light, the runes creating a magical field of energy.

"well, if they open it, they might wish they hadnt," Alya said returning. "and by the way, this little place you want...."
"I told you."
"yes, well. our friends will enjoy a trip into the Anauroch desert. this place is somewhere on the Shadover mountains."
"ah what fun!"

[Zekafae]

He shrugged" Magic uses elements, druids, rangers, wizards, sorcerers. Elements are the base of many things. I am not surprised."

((i forgot to say that was sarcasm...oh well))

"of course..., tho sometimes, druids are more fun," she joked, "unless theres a ranger, then he's more fun," she said winking at him.
"veraka, look for anything reacting to the magical energy."
Inrii knelt down to study the energy. the box in her hand didnt seam to react, but she hadnt put it in. then again, it may be something else entirely. was the books connected to the energy pulse Zek captured?
"Zek, do you notice anything about the light thing in your bag?"

[Zekafae]

He shrugged" true.." He raised a brow hearing her and chuckled" We'll explore that later." At the question he shook his head." Nothing I can feel outright, as I'm not planning on opening the bag unless I have too."

[veraka]

Veraka noted the exchange between Zek and Inrii, and shook his head. At Inrii's question, he looked around for anything that might be looking out of the ordinary.

He noticed that there was a staff that was not among their items that had an empty slot to it; he then noticed a strange gem was glowing with a dark aura around it.

"Inrii, did you notice this?" he asked, picking up the gem and holding it out; "I believe that it goes with that stick," he pointed towards the staff that was lying among the scattered items on the floor.

"I hadnt gotten to some yet," she replied looking at it.
She cast a renewed shielding around them all and then cast identify on the staff and gem.
"well, thats interesting. they all seamed linked."
here let me see them. she incerted the gem and it glowed a dark blue. as the books tuned in with it. (how, all this works...it beats me. i'll somehow figure it out.)
Zek's bag hummed also, changing. She sent the mental command word and the gem activated the books and the energy sphere.
"if yall wanna get out you can. but I think if you put it in the center there, this staff can control it. Like it was used as a sourse of power for the tower. and who ever developed this made a way fail safe, attempted to should something happen, that their work remain hidden and unfound from unwanted people. well, till we show up. I'm betting they wanted us to do this for them all along. since magic users would have the hardest time. and I bet also others failed to get this far."

((i hope some of that made sense))
((i'm gunna go with the books control the bagged energy. unless yall got a better idea. then i'll prolly take it instead.

((alright, this belongs somewhere else, but I wanted to put it here before i lost the idea...sepecially since their fleeting these days. ))

the three companions did walk into a multiplayer chess bored. Neriah was playing only some of the pieces. Unknown to her, someone more powerful was making the counter move. He was no ordinary being. tho unknown to many, a Guardnorn [b:nr3idz3d]baelnorn[/b:nr3idz3d], Quenya, came on the scene. and he wasnt happy about some travelors removing his inside man, Kereah. He had been working hard the last few months to get inside Raven's Claw, Neriah's guild. and now those working for her ruined that work. pacing the small house, he cursed. He had to hope the tower's defenses would hold up as it had the last century. for Quenya had chosen a path of Prime-bound duty beyond death. He would protect the secrets of the tower.

it came suddenly, hitting like a bag of bricks. He felt the power go. Unlike some baelnorn, the Seldrine had not chosen him, thus he was one of a few who did have a phlactory. it powered the protector of the tower.
slightly weaken, tho not defeated, he hurried to his the large bowl. with the right words and movement, the image began to appear. another curse errupted as he saw the female elf, a drow! holding his staff. next to her was another drow and an aasimir.
they had assembled the books, the staff, and all that was left was to set the energy orb inside.
he cast his teleport to the tower door. for no one could teleport inside.
his hands went thru the motions of a spell. and the tower began to shake beneth the three's feet

((i'm still working the kinks out so if u have ways to make it flow right, dont hesitate to fix))

[Zekafae]

He looked at them and shrugged" You know what, I don't know about you, but I'm going for it." He took the bagged orb of energy and moved it to the center and held it upside down looking to them" I open this bag and all hell could break loose. Ready for the fun that may come?" He opened the bag up and let the energy out. This was the most fun he had in a long long time.

ok, i think i got what to do with Quenya. he is baelnorn, whose job it to protect the tower, now at whatever cost, and has made deals with the dead dracolich to stop any from gaining the secrets or power...maybe that works for yall?))

She nodded a slighty evil grin on her face, also eager and curious as she watched as the power grow. She held the staff up.
as he let it out a pulse hit the tower.
but the baelnorn spell was already in effect. the tower shook uncontrollable and with the energy released, things were about to go bad.
the floor began to crumble around them, the books shaking and pulling apart. a wall in the hall crumbled as the top floor started to cave in.
"earthquake!"
she scrambled while tossing the staff for whoever to catch, and grab the books before they fell with the collapsing floor.
the energy floating, even as the books were disturbed, stayed put.

((Works for me, one thing though; is the doorway sealed?))

Veraka grabbed the staff in mid-flight, even as the ground began to shake beneath his feet; "someone obviously doesn't like us snooping about, huh?" he muttered.
"Earthquake, What earthquake?! This zone of Toril has never had a recorded quake in all the time it's been alive and up," he shouted above the falling rubble; "come on!" he bellowed as he cannoned into the doorway. . . .

((no. the earthquake was the spell, an attempted to bring the tower down on us.))

the books went into her hands as the floor gave way beneath her. she enacted her levitation, but the wall swayed and came tumbling at her.

Quenya watched, invisible, as the tower shook and began to fall in itself.
the guards heard and saw the rumbling and got away quick. a gathering of the town now surrounded the tower, eyes wide in shock. the oldest living citizen didnt wasnt even alive during tower's occupation. and now it was suddenly falling.

Neriah half laughing from the entertainment half upset watched glued to her scry globe as if it was a suspense show (movie wouldnt work here would it? 'just need some popcorn now.'
Alya watched too amazed at the scene unfolding.
"stuff it! they're bringing it down! I guess I better get over there and fix this."
she suddenly appeared in the crowd looking for signs of the three.

[veraka]

Reacting on instinct, the aasimar threw a lighting bolt at the wall that was now coming down at Inrii, shattering it into thousands of pieces.
"Inrii, Zek, get over here!" he hollered at them around the crumbling building; "Inrii, can you use all of our combined magical energies to project one of those fancy shields?"

[Zekafae]

Closing the bag back up quickly he caught the staff and slid it onto his back between his back and the straps he used for the bow, quiver of arrows and now the twin swords he had. He moved over to where veraka was avoiding more falling debris and muttered" Someone is going to die for this unwelcome effect.

Inrii braced, arms over her head for the falling debris but was pelted with smaller chunks. She pushed off, flipping roll and realesed the levitation to land with the guys. she then cast another minor shields (since i am more offensive spell caster).
"lets get out," as another piece of wall just missed. she hurried to the wall and threw a fireball to blast it, leaving an opening.
"jump! theres no time." she called as she pushed them, as much as the skinny drowess could. her hands were already casting feather fall on the guys as they fell the 4 floors twords the ground. Inrii grabbed zarstra as herself gracefully dove out, just to miss the last wall's crumble.

Outside the people jumped as a fireball blasted thru the tower's outside wall. Quenya stood their mouth gapping as three figures jumped out. he waited, hoping for the splat that was sure to come.

Alya smirked and began laughing at it. they were capable all right, maybe to much. with a wave of her hand she was invisible and heading twords their landing spots. meanwhile her hands were in the process of another spell...

Hoorah for flying, Eili was clearly pissed as she all but hissed on the way down. He had drawn his blades preparing to deal with anyone whom decided to annoy him just the hair further. Landing and crouching down the arms moved back slightly blades down. Eili hissed remaining all but welded to his leather armor but would jump at a moment's notice. He muttered darkly" I swear... I am going to kill those involved in this plot.. "
