On The Shores of Despair Pt. 2

Veraka again chuckled at Frad's comment about inanimate objects. He had to admit he was starting to like the dwarf. He also made a mental note of the barriers that Pwdn had erected as a safe guard to the group, and the canvas wind-break that she and Lyon had put up.
While such an object might come in handy should his body decide to shut down on him. He decided to take a quick respite; moving behind the canvas shield, he replaced his dragon-scale helm, rested for a few seconds, then resumed his stance, enjoying the blizzard for what it was, not what it did.

the fire flickered a few times, but never went out.
Zarae offered some jerky to anyone, tho many were getting ready to rest.
"I'll take first watch. yall can rest."

she chewed a bit of her favorite meat.
the snow piled up outside and the night passed slowly.
"now I think about it, I know you dont I? from a few yrs ago?"
((i tried to look back and see if anything was said so to be consistant, but didnt see anything...))

The armored storm warrior looked to the young drow; he then took off his helmet, letting his shoulder length silver hair bellow in the wind.
"Yes, I believe that you and I have met on previous occasions; if my memory serves me correctly, you were part of House Kilanatlar in Lith My'athar. I believe that you were the young one who got excited at the mention of my invitation to take anyone who was willing to the surface. That was definitely a good couple of years of ago, say the least."

Zarae looked around to the others resting. (who wants second watch?)
"wait, the big surfacer from the tunnels. the one the guard rescued. ironic, the next night, the 1st and 3rd house attacked us. I ran into one of the priestess of Eilistraee trying to escape. they took me in for two years then the city came under attack and I made it to the surface anyway. did you meet with the Lady of the house?"

(For the most part, I'm gonna be up all night, so to speak, so it's more like who wants second watch with the tank
))
"Yes, the big surfacer in the tunnels, that was me," he said smirking, remembering his little fight with the birdmen in the tunnels; "yes I did meet the Lady of the house, Erelae and her daughter Zarstra."
Veraka took a bite of the meat, putting his back to the wind and keeping his eye on the group, like a silent guardian watching its protected.

Adian dropped easily into sleep...but only for a few hours. At his young age, he didn't seem to need that much...and the cold was uncomfortable enough to keep him from settling in too deeply. He rather reluctantly left his blankets when it was time for Zarae to sleep and tapped her shoulder to remind her that her shift was over..

Zarae spoke about the House and they talked of the priestess there, until she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Adian was waking up. she looked at him, giving him an 'are you sure'. she laid down, a dagger near her head, and wrapped her piwafwi around her and drifted into reverie.
the pain of such loss hit her again as she laid their.the talk reminded her of her twin brother and the friend she lost when the city was attacked.

The storm warrior listened intently to Zarae, recalling all the events that had happened to Zarae that he had been apart of. He then noticed Adian get up and take Zarae's shift of watch.
Veraka inclined his head to Adian, "so what brings you out to these remote regions, my fellow paladin?" The aasimar noticed a slight drop in the wind.

Frad and Lyon were sound asleep by this time, and Pwdn was showing no immediate signs of movement. All three were silent, though Frad looked like he ought to be snoring deafeningly loud with his head tilted back the way it was, and his mouth wide open.
Pwdn, in fact, wasn't asleep but thinking on the day's events and trying to ascertain if the rings' owners could be contacted at all. She hadn't tried yet, though, she was afraid of what they might say and how hurt they might still be. Later, there would be a time for all that later, when she'd done what she could here.

"Sometimes during the Eveningsong I get...ideas or thoughts that I am sure are not my own," he explained, tightening his cloak and scarf around himself. "Pictures...no...impressions of places I have never been. I've learned that these images are more intense when I am facing in a direction that will take me to...whatever it is I am feeling. It doesn't happen every time, but the past few times it has happened the sensations have been drawing me in this general direction.
"I realize it sounds mad, but I think the Lady is guiding me somehow...taking me where she needs me to go. I can only trust that is the case."

Veraka listened to Adian's explanition of his reasons. He then cocked an eyebrow at him and chuckled; "Adian, do I look like the type to think that which you just told me crazy? Me, who of all people in the realms was chosen by Bahamut himself for Gods know what reason, and then given a set of armor made of his own scales." He laughed at the idea of him thinking Adian was crazy.
"Trust me, my friend, if I thought you were crazy for that reason, why would I even be on this little excursion myself, hmm? Whatever reason you believe is good enough for me; the Dark Maiden may pull at you just as it may seem Bahamut pulls at me, though for what reason, I've the slightest clue."
Seeing the young drow getting the chills, he pulled his pack over, rummaged through it, and pulled out a small parcel of food; "here, eat this," Veraka said, extending the package over to Adian, "it'll keep you warm from the inside out, trust me."

"Maybe we're all quite insane." Pwdn was looking out from her 'bedding,' with a distracted half-smile. "So many people wandering into the realm of some unspeakable evil at the behest of voices in their heads. It's not inconceivable." Stirring, Pwdn stretched out an arm towards the fire for warmth, though it displayed notably less detail in form than before. "But if so, then we're still doing the right thing. Crazy or otherwise, that's what really matters. If the gods weren't so well proved in their existence, we'd surely be called mad; some have said that to me already for how I work. If that's what it takes though, to be such a force for good in the world, then why not?"
Pwdn was being rather philosophical, but often got like this when unable to seep. She didn't really need to, it was more habit than anything, but being alone bothered her terribly and at night when everyone was asleep that was almost a given.
