Ascent from Darkness

((that's the junk, couldn't think of the name, rats; ah well, a little humility never hurt anyone))
Veraka looked at her with an embarrassed expression, then quickly downed the vial, taking on his former appearance as a house-less rogue. His armor and weapons remained the same, only his face and outer skin took on the tone of a male drow, the vial of potion doing it's work.
"Next time, it would wise of me to ask what the stuff is rather than just assuming to know it," he said, looking a little red in the cheeks. He followed Zar out of the house and to the Bazaar, noting that rather annoying slaver. However once he saw the three slaves locked up like they were, his blood boiled over.
Turning to Zarstra, he whispered "forgive me, but I cannot put up with this," and with that turned to the slaver when a hand caught him by the shoulder.

"one should always check content of drinks around drow, well, most drow. you dont have to worry of poisons with the staff."
Veraka was about to go after the slaver, when she stopped him,
"wait, if you march in their to fight, you have a patrol capable of taking you down. this is the heart of darkness. plus if your enemy is here, then you will be eaiser to find."
she thought a minute. "i will send word to the house. their is a group who work in freeing the slaves. i have some funds to purchase someone. but not much money on me, too dangerous."

((just the thing I was hoping you'd say
))
Veraka fumed at the prospect of slaves being in front of him and him being able to do nothing about it. Upon hearing Zarstra's words, however, he stopped, knowing that she was all to right.
When she mentioned coin, however, he got this inkling to dig into his armor's pocket. Thrusting an armored glove into his pouch he brought out a clenched hand grappling something; "What in the bloody Nine Hells?" he whispered to Zarstra. Opening his hand close to his chest, as not to reveal whatever he had to the public, Veraka saw three dusty, but real, platinum pieces and a piece of paper folded properly.
"What the," he opened up the paper. It read [color=green:w9x21p0a]I thought you'd be needing these, so I've granted you them. Your friendly Platinum dragon.[/color:w9x21p0a]

Zar was planning a strategy in her head. this was a newer slaver. they put the last one out of business. it was obvious his 'specimins' were not high quality. several drow walked up to them, pinched, poked, studied and walked off.
one male, a wealthy non-noble walked up to the orc. "I need fighters for the ring. strong, able to yield a weapon and defend itself," he spoke in orc to the slave, "you seem somewhat capable. you fight well, you may earn freedom." the male was sly to not mention what he really meant. but the orc seamed eager.
"me fight well, strongger than puny elf."
he contemplated it while checking the other three. surface elves were generally used for tourtous pleasures since they made poor slaves. he eyed the female surface elf, leering at her scant clothing. "i could have some use for you."
Zar could barely contain herself also, but she kept her composure while the male stood at the elf's cage.
she heard Veraka, and turned to face him. "what is it?"

Zar looked, rather shocked, "um, alot." she smiled then, then begin to frown.
the male had just purchased the orc, handing the duerger the money. a spell was cast on the orc and it obeyed like robot as the cage was open. "come my new pet."
"we better hurry before he wants the other three," she spoke.

"Because it seems the Platinum Dragon himself wants me to intervene," he replied in a whisper, showing Zarstra the platinum coins.
Upon hearing her, he said "Agreed; I hope this works." With that, Veraka strode up to the duergar.
"You!" he barked at the duergar, "where did you get these three from?" he asked in a commanding tone.

the slaver's eyes narrowed at the large 'drow' barking orders at him. his didnt understand what the drow was saying. then speaking undercommon, "I dont speak drowish, moss breath."
(he assumes your speaking drow. but if its common he wont understand it either)
Zar stepped up, putting on her facade and spoke to him in the underdark language, "name your price before you wear out my patience dwarf." her look made the duergur remember he was in a drow city. he cursed in his native tongue. he was hoping for an offer, but she wasnt taking the bait.
"10 gold a piece, no less."
"what makes you think their worth that much? too skinny, and rather poor shape. 7."
he grumbled a bit think if it was worth it.

Immediately recognizing what he'd done wrong, Veraka reverted to Undercommon.
"You want ten gold a piece, eh; my commander's right, though, this lot doesn't look worth over seven." However seeing the duergar start contemplating Zar's words, he decided to take the initiative; "how about two of these for the three," he said, holding up two of the platinum pieces to the duergar's eyes.

his eyes got large, as he tried to keep his reaction hidden.
"what trick you play drow?"

he issued a low growl, "first I see coin."
he tested it, and checked that it was the real thing.
"stupid pixie. take them." his hands dropping the coins into his pocket. he handed Veraka the keys to unlock the cages.
Zar whispered, "if only i learned to pick-pocket."

The aasimar-disguised-drow took the keys and went over to each of the cages, methodically unlocking them and pointing them over to Zar.
The last cage held the female elf; she had tears streaming down her face as he unlocked the cage and grabbed her. She was about to hammer him in the face when he stepped in very close; she recoiled, thinking that the male would smack her.
Instead, Veraka pulled her in so she could catch a very good glimspe of the emblem that was embedded in his armor. Upon seeing the symbol of the Platinum Dragon, she looked at him with a curious glance. Veraka merely pointed to Zar and led her that way.
He then made sure the duergar [b:j8ijrtyq]wouldn't[/b:j8ijrtyq] pose a threat to the house by walking up and unleashing the berserker into his system, however, holding the raging beast in check. His eyes flashing blood-red and radiant silver, he said in a low voice, "you didn't see us; we were not here; and if I find out that you 'leaked' out to anyone, I assure you, you will beg Lolth for death compared to what [b:j8ijrtyq]I'll[/b:j8ijrtyq] do to you."

the grey dwarf scoffed at the threat of Lloth and went on playing with the coins.
Zar was careful to get the slaves going twords the house. she sent word to one of the ladies to meet her at the door.
a tall and thick drow, and part something else, took them in. she was smiling they were able to rescue them and get them somewhere safe. and she knew Veraka had to be glad of it.
"thank you. it means alot to them, to the house, to me. but I still need to pick up componets, empty vials, and such. if you are still wanting to come along."
