"Here's a cookie instead," Drakin said as the Elves were leaving, throwing a cookie in Inrii's general direction.

He grabbed another for himself, and sat down to wait for the patrol to get a decent head start.

"Would you trust the big one to keep his temper around a bunch of elves?" asked Drakin, "And besides, I prefer not to stay in an area where they know where we are."

Aurora looked at Inrii and Drakin as they discussed what was going on with Veraka; [i:29mgtiq5]what he sees in them as friends, I know not, though I think it's better that way.[/i:29mgtiq5]

Veraka followed Gilmahs and his patrol, keeping the priestess in his front view at all times, though the patrol pretty much kept a solid eye on her. He noted how Ariali was always behind them.
"Next time that di'kut tells me to take the baggage, he can eat a load of osik," Veraka muttered to himself.

"temper, I know. I traveled a while. so you gotta give me something on him. picking on me almost a whole journey...I so am getting him back. my pranks didnt do much." it was a good cover, tho she did want to know also.
when they were a good distance out of hearing, "Do our surface cousins expect us to not follow? are they naive? or they may try to set up a trap."
----
Ariali caught most of his muttering. but decided not to say anything about it.
"so what would you do if they cant provide answers? continue on or finish helping the village?" hoping to change his mood with distractions.

"Well lets give them the benefit of the doubt," Drakin said, "If it ends up they are that naive, well we'll just have to think up a proper gift for them then."

After munching on cookies for five minutes, he decided that the elves have gotten far enough ahead. So he got up and headed toward the trees.

Inrii cast disguise on herself becoming a wild elf in looks and clothes. then she pulled her piwafwi hood over her.
"i can cast disguise on you, if you wish?"

Aurora merely opened an eye at Inrii's remark for payback on her friend; [i:1abwil6p]I think I'll let him find out what's in store for him.[/i:1abwil6p]

The storm warrior turned to Ariali when she spoke up; "well, truth be told, even if the cleric can provide some of the answers, I'm gonna make sure that those folks have a place to stay, even if it's temporary. I'll try talking to the village elder or council to see if we can't get them a place to stay within the village. After that who knows?" he paused a moment, "Airali, if I'm unable to convince the governing body of this village to let our survivors stay, I don't know what I'll be able to help them; if things do go to the Hells, then I'm hoping that you'll be able to help me with them."

"Indeed, though I'm pretty sure Aurora knows their location, after all she was with them as you transported them through those portals."

Gilmahs turned his head to speak, "you wish to speak to the village council, I can arrange that, though I'm not sure you'll have an easy time convincing them of what ever it is you're talking about. They're known to be a stubborn bunch."
He turned to regard Taberina; "also, she is not permitted to enter the village, on the grounds . . . " Veraka held up an armored gauntlet, stopping the sun elf in mid-sentence.
"Where I go, she goes; I, Veraka Orden, paladin and storm warrior of both the Dark Maiden and Bahamut swear to you, on my word and my life, she will harm no one in your village or lest incur the wrath of full-fledged thunder storm."

Glimahs regarded him with a questioning look; "how is it that you, a human, is a paladin and a, whatever you call yourself, of a good drow goddess and the Platinum dragon himself?"

"First off, my friend; I'm an aasimar; big difference between me and an ordinary human. Second, anyone may follow Elistraee, she is accepting of all and any; the Platinum dragon god, however, is more direct with his followers; I'm a storm warrior because of my affiliation with Bahamut and Elistraee."

Upon hearing the mention of Elistraee, Taberina snorted at the aasimar; "So that was why the Spider Queen tasked me with hunting you down."

"our clans honors the Dark Maiden as part of the Seldarine. She has followers from many races. even halflings!" she told Gilmahs. "would they not believe if a Tel'Quesser stands with him to vouch for character?"

Veraka was taken aback by how quickly Airali was to jump in with his defense. He gave her a curious side-glance before returning his attention to Gilmahs, who was heavily considering the words that the Lythari had just spoken.

The sun elf turned to regard Airali, "they would definitely weigh their decision heavily upon that fact yes, but there would still be much to consider, as for you're being a follower of the mighty platinum dragon and the Dark Maiden, I believe you when you say you can keep this priestess under control; however, I will hold you up to what you have just said. Should this drow hurt or kill any among my village, you will be held accountable for all her crimes, as well as punishments," he warned.

"A responsibility I am more than willing to take on and risk," the storm warrior finished.

"Heheheh; it's a wonder you're not dead already, spawn-of-angels. Foolish are those who risk they're lives for no gain, and even more foolish are those who follow those," Taberina spat at Veraka and Airali.

The aasimar felt the berserker come roaring up, but he held it in under his will, refusing to bow to the drow's level. He instead slowly drew Marala Vharc from its sheath and aimed its point at the priestess, his eyes blazing with a silver luster that could've matched his dragon-scale armor.
"You know nothing about honor and sacrifice," he said in a very calm, controlled, and dark voice; "until you even get a hint of it, do not assume to know my MOTIVES!" he bellowed at the top of his lungs to the drow.

Ariali jumped when he spoke to the priestess. his voice carried load. She figured what Veraka was thinking when she said would vouch for his character, "i'm a cleric, sense evil kinda thing," she whispers, "plus you have proven your character." Ariali was also naive about the world for the most part, but he had saved the village and was willing to die if anything went wrong.

ahead in their path Inrii heard the familar voice holler. the sound echoed to them. "i think he got mad."

Gilmahs, his patrol, and Taberina were all taken aback by how the aasimar's change in demeanor had come about.
[i:3hsxs7cn]I guess I know why he's a paladin; crazy-sacrifice-everything-for-nothing zealots. However, there's something that came out, another part of him; darker, angrier, filled with hate, rage and malice,[/i:3hsxs7cn] Taberina thought to herself, an idea forming in her head; [i:3hsxs7cn]if I can get that darker part of himself to reveal itself, then present him in that state to Lolth. . [/i:3hsxs7cn] she smiled wickedly at the thought of a dark paladin serving Lolth.

Gilmahs regained his composure as quickly as his patrol; "I believe you when you say those words; come our village is not much further ahead," he said, waving them to come forward.

Veraka took his place among the group.
"Thank you for that, it's nice to actually not have to fight your way through every step," he returned Airali's whisper.
[i:3hsxs7cn]It's getting stronger; hour by hour, day by day. How much longer can I keep a lid on it?[/i:3hsxs7cn] Veraka looked at the ground as he walked on, contemplating how close the berserker was to unleashing its fury upon anyone or anything.
