Upon hearing the word "Duck!", Veraka instinctively went to one knee, just in time to see a knife sail over his head and into the wizard that was about to conjure something on him.

He also heard Drakin say something about being even; [i:etxky8vi]He was never one who didn't like having the slate clean[/i:etxky8vi] Veraka thought as he chuckled to himself, all the while dodging the head priestesses attacks. After ducking from Drakin's knife throw, Veraka was on the defensive from the priestess, who seemed very adamant about seeing his head on a pike. He blocked a upward slash meant to sever his head with his shield.
Veraka raised an armored boot, planted it in the female drow's chest, and pushed, bringing a stream of drow curses from her lips. At that moment, lances of pain surged from his neck as the babau had latched itself onto his neck with its wicked sharp claws.

"Get the fierfek off!" Veraka roared as he reached up with his shield arm, trying to grab the furious working demon from his neck. Blood started to stream down his chest plate as Veraka twisted about, trying to get the fiend off of his back.

Taberina had to smile as she recovered from her stumble of the aasimar's heel-kick, for the other demon had grabbed onto the celestial, and was tearing at his neck. She was about crack her whip forward when the half-whelp blocked her path.
"Do wish to be next, half-breed; I can easily make that possible," she said, all acid in her voice. With that she launched an all out assault on the half-drow, her katana and snake-whip working a furious combo attack.

Ariali saw the scene. She tried to cast a healing spell, but the attacking demon's work was faster than the spell could keep up. there was little she could do apart from fighting herself. Drakin step up to protect Veraka and take on the priestess himself.
Finally, she took her chakram and threw it at the priestress' whip to cut it before it struck. then it hit a couple trees to return to her. She threw it again to strike the demon's horns or enough to knock him off for the warrior to finish him.

Drakin saw a flash of silver and the priestess's whip missing three or four feet of whip. Drakin smiled, [i:244xjwz1]So Ariali wasn't with the rest of the refugees like I thought, at least the odds are a bit better than I thought[/i:244xjwz1] Drakin thought.

The priestess cursed Drakin some more, and threw a spell of sound waves at Drakin. He raised his enspelled gauntlets and absorbed most of the attack, though he was pushed back a couple of feet.

"I guess surrender is out of the question," Drakin said smiling, "Ah, well. Dealing with prisoners is always a hassle anyways."

"For once we agree half-blood," the priestess snarled at him.

Smiling Drakin went into a simple combination that the priestess blocked easily. Slowly he built up his momentum, throwing more and more advance combinations at her as he became faster.

Veraka felt the demon stutter for a moment; realizing that someone had intervened, he reached up and with a howl of rage, grabbed the demon by one of its clawed arms, slamming it into the ground.

Chanting the words for Arc of Lighting, he thrust Marala Vharc into the babau's chest, plunging the blade through its back and into the ground. Miniature bolts of white electrical energy danced down the his blade's edge, and lit the demon up like a carnival torch. The demon howled in anguish as it started to melt away, sending it back to the Abyss. A smile formed on his face at seeing the demon fade into blackness.

A cry of anguish brought him back to the present; Veraka turned around to behold one horrid scene. The line of defenders was taking a beating from the remainder of the drow, who were outnumbering them easily by 3 to 1. One of the defenders had taken a sword to gut, and his adversary was about to decapitate the fighter when a roar of fury emanated from a raging storm warrior.

The drow assailant was purely enjoying his toying with the half-elf fighter, and was about to finish him off when a barbed-edged shield met his waist, and lifted him off the ground; the dazed drow found himself staring into two narrowed silver-glowing eyes.

Taberina had never faced such an opponent before in her entire life time. With each move that he made complimenting the next, he was building up to a crescendo and keeping her on the defensive simultaneously. With her whip next to useless, she pulled out a simple, but very poisoned stiletto; [i:znxwns9p]Lets see how he likes this.[/i:znxwns9p]

Drakin saw a flash of black as the Drow he was facing pulled out a wicked looking adamantium dagger, replacing her ruined whip. Drakin watched this weapon carefully, he was getting a feeling that it wasn't something he wanted to get hit by judging by the smile on her face.

He went purely on the defensive, watching the priestesses movement. She was clearly trying to hit him with the dagger over her katana.

[i:2jeofj82]Poisoned![/i:2jeofj82] the reason she was using the dagger as a main weapon came to Drakin as she tried to plunge it into his chest. Drakin dived backwards and rolled away.

Drakin came back up to his feet, "You're trying to poison an assassin, now that's ironic," he said laughing, he held up his Shotel, "This is going to be fun. You see, my sword here is made from the stinger of an wyvern."

At first, she seethed at the mockery the half-blood was bestowing upon her; but upon hearing the comment about a wyvern stinger being the blade of her enemies primary weapon, Taberina quickly rethought her strategy.
"It seems we both play upon the poison factor to see us through battle," she said to the assassin, noting how her initial target, the celestial, was making mince meat out of her soldiers. Her attention quickly came back to the assassin, her attention caught his movements just time to save her own hide.

Ducking outta of the way of the assassins shotel, she countered, driving her stiletto in for a penetration hit, while simultaneously bringing her katana in under her dagger in a reverse cutting motion.

Backing away from the Drow's stiletto, Drakin accepted a grazing hit from her katana on his forearm. He waved a finger in front of him, "uh-ah, you really should pay attention to the opponent you have right now. Not the one you want."

"Your blood stains my sword assassin," she cried out waving her katana in front of her.

"'Tis a flesh wound, nothing more," he said smiling. And went back into battle with her once again.

Fuming at the assassins comment, Taberina worked her dagger and katana against his shotel, hearing the ring of weapon on weapon.
"It is a pity I can't take more time and spare with you but I have more pressing matters at hand," she retorted at him launching a her wrist crossbow bolt at Drakin, near point-blank.

Veraka was turning his fifth enemy into a personal pin cushion, while simultaneously keeping two others off of three injured fighters of the defenders. The two drow couldn't understand how the assimar had gone from a seemingly civilized paladin to the raging wild beast that now stood before them now.
Both drow were wide-eyed as the berserker tore a hole in their fellow warrior with his sword, lifting the drow off the ground even as he slid down the length of the blade, blood dripping off of its razor-sharp edge.
The raging aasimar turned toward the two remaining drow within his immediate vicinity, eyes flashing white-hot silver. Veraka bellowed as he charged in, shield raised, sword ready.

The bolt dug into Drakin's stomach, his hard leather armor taking most of the tip, but he felt a tiny bit hit flesh. Grunting he pulled it out. "Sleeping poison correct?" he asked as a wave of dizziness came over him.

She smiled. He smiled back, "Guess I'll have to finish this quickly then," he said, she looked at him quizzically, "You see, my master would poison my meals every once in a while. While I was able to identify and create a cure for most, some would take effect, though through constant exposure to these I built a tolerance. Drow sleeping poison was one of these. So now our fun end, we must decide a victor."

Drakin came at her with a hard combination, working her weapon high then low, going to any spot that is a vital area. Her neck, the artery inside the legs, vital organs in the abdomen. It was a now a race against time, if the poison won, he lost, if she let a prick of his blade through, she lost.

Taberina smiled as he guessed the correct poison that was on her dart; however her smile quickly went to the graveyard as the assassin told her that he was somewhat tolerant to a number of poisons, including the drow sleeping toxin that coated her darts.

Within a split second, the half-breed was on her launching an offensive so precise and so fast that she was forced to retreat somewhat.
[i:wmjkvbfx]If I just let him try and wear himself down, then he'd be defenseless and at my mercy . . . if I had any, that is.[/i:wmjkvbfx] She had to smile at the thought, dodging another cross cutting blow from Drakin, unaware of the golem of an aasimar approaching from behind her.

Veraka had to smirk as he came up upon the priestess, intent on giving her a surprise.
"Drakin, how many kills you got today, psycho?"

Taberina was effortlessly dodging the assassins attacks when she was suddenly lifted off the ground by two massive arms.
"What the; get off of me, you overgrown ape," she said as Veraka hoisted her into the air squirming and fidgeting.
"Drakin grab her weapons," he grunted as she delivered a painful reverse groin kick to Veraka. The assassin was barely able to retrieve her weapons.
"Quit squirming, sweetheart; whats a matter, afraid that I won't give you a goodbye kiss before we part ways," he said, giving a wry smile to boot.

"Sweetheart!?! You best be mocking me, you son of troll," she seethed at the remark.

"How many I killed?" said Drakin, "Hmm, let's see, in this battle just the wizard I saved you from. I was having too much fun with her." He smiled at Taberina, "All together though. . . umm, I lost count.

He uncorked a vial and raised it to the Drow, "Antidote," he expained, "for that sleeping poison you gave me. Always found that one to be a pain to resist for more than five minutes. Though the antidote's taste is horrible. . . I'd almost rather fall asleep."

He emptied the contents into his mouth with a grimace. Then turned to Veraka, "Better bind her," Drakin said, "I gave enough poison to the main camp to slow them down by a couple of hours, but after that. . ."

Drakin looked around. The battle ground was covered in gore, but mostly Drow's by what he saw. There still some villagers still standing.

when the fighting was done, Ariali went to see who she could help, casting minor healing spells.
She saw the fuming and bound priestess who had lead the raid. a thought crossed her and Ariali cast 'zone of truth' on the drow. if they decided to interigate her, then the drow might now decide to be more forthcoming with info.
Done with what she could, she headed over twords Veraka and Drakin who was standing in the midst of the battlefield.

((I'm not sure what's going on with Zazzt, though I haven't seen him in a long time))
Veraka had just finished tying up the very angry priestess, at Drakin's wise input, and unceremoniously dumped her on the ground, when he sparked up a chat with Drakin about what in the Nine hells to do with her.

They got part way through when he noticed Ariali had come out from wherever she'd been cloaked and was walking over to their position.

"Well, good to see a familiar face after all this time, especially seeing how you saved his hide from a very nasty whip," Veraka commented, pointing jokingly at Drakin;

Turning to Drakin, "hey, tall, dark and lethal; I believe that tilts the tables in her direction now; now how are you gonna pay that one back?"
[i:dhzdyh8v]Sorry, my assassin friend, I couldn't resist.[/i:dhzdyh8v]

A good distance away, Aurora was worried sick about Veraka, but she understood that he had tasked her with keeping an eye on the villagers.

Taberina was in a desperate moment; not only had she failed to accomplish her objective, but she'd been captured by her very prey. She sensed something subtly different about the air around her; turning to see a wild elf female striding up to her quarry and the unknown assassin, she realized what the elf had done.
"As if the gods themselves have taken a keen interest in me all of sudden," she said with all the sarcasm that was possibly conceivable.

Drakin laughed, "I agree that I am in her debt now, for the moment at least," Drakin said with a smile and bow to Ariali, "But no more than you are my friend, I believe she's the one that caught the Babau's attention while you were getting mauled, and I assume that most of your relatively healed wounds are thanks to her as well," he continued, "I think that makes you in more in her debt than me, I believe."

Drakin turned to Taberina, "The real question now though is what to do with this one? And, don't forget that we have some more Drow at our back." Turning back to Ariali, "I don't suppose you happen to have anymore teleportation spells? Because I don't think we'll last another battle." He finished pointing at the wounded and exhausted villagers wandering around the battle sight, helping wounded and scavenging for something valuable to make a miserable day, at least, some what better.

"give me a few minutes and I should be able to open the door. I may have to open it a few times but I will get everyone to the other village."
Ariali sat down on a fallen tree and rested, trying to build up the magical reserve.
After some time passed, she walked back to the others, "ready to go?"
Her hands went thru the correct motions and the door opened to a clearing. not quite with the others but close they could walk the distance.
