((Nice...I doubt I would ever have the attention span to type something that long :P))

Zazzt shrugged, "Elminster is said to be the most powerful wizard alive. I know not whether that is truth, but he is certainly gifted by Mystra with magical lore and power. Coupled with the fact he has lived for over a thousand years, how could I not wish to be taught by him?" He winked at Adian, "Ah, but why not aim high? If you do not succeed, you will have at least had the pleasure of trying, and no fall ever truly breaks a wizard, so I can simply try again, and again."

~Cinder watched her with great interest as she told her story and polished the arrows with skill,Thanking her when they finished~

"I should like to learn some day how to put spells into my arrows it would be such an adveture to come across one that could teach me such magic." she said as she packed her arrows and stones neetly into the pouch. " I think i will head for the baths Pwdn that Zazzt has so genorously provided." ~She snached a sweet cake as she passed the table to find her packsack.~ "Will you jion me?" she asked Pwdn.

"It would be interesting, to learn such enchantment; I'm afraid that this is the best I can manage though." Pwdn hesitated. She'd already bathed once and had to keep an eye on Lyon and Frad, but then her presence would agitate Lyon further it seemed and the baths were so very good. "Of course, I'd love to bathe with you."

"A point well made," Adian conceded. "At the moment I am content to follow the Dark Maiden's wishes as best as I understand them. Perhaps other ambitions will come to me as I go. I suppose that my only real ambition is to please her...perhaps to one day put a smile on her face."

He sighed.

"I suppose that is aiming rather high in its own way."

"Ah, and yet you accuse me of aiming high?" Zazzt smiled, "At least I intend to please a mortal, relatively speaking, instead of a goddess. He stood up, well, I suppose we might as well turn in. This spell will only last until dawn, and I do not think we want to awake to the frigidness of winter after such a nice bath." With that, the illusion vanished.

Veraka walked sadly along the shores the lake known as Tearlap; He heard of problems that had beset the area, and now his most loyal winter wolf companion, Aurora had gone missing. His sadness was undeniable, but he pushed on, intent on figuring out what had happened to Aurora. The thought of his wolf friend lying dead somewhere brought only more grief to his mind. He closed his eyes.
[i:2jr1wnon]If that is what has happened, then whomever had a hand in her death will pay, very, very dearly.[/i:2jr1wnon] he thought to himself, anger rising within him. His eyes flashed open, their dark green hue replaced by a raging red and silent silver.[/i]

"we seam to have lost track of time. how many hours till dawn? and are the two new comers among us?"
it seamed a bit more calm and quiet in the makeshift house.
Zarae dunked her head under water to rewet the top as she still floated near the wall.

~Cinderanna sat on the edge of the bath braiding her long white hair feeling clean and fresh~ she thought of the events of the day, it had been a long ride over the hills and she was tired. She was glade to have met up with the adventurers who were after this mysterious killer. The tales she had hear were enough to make someone run in the other direction and not look back. But she was fired up by the thought of the hunt. She had parted company with her dear teacher it has been weeks now. and it was nice to have someone to talk to. " Zarea you will be water logged if you stay in much longer" she giggled. " Perhaps Zazzt can wipp you up a wooden raft and you can sleep right here" Cinder suggested.
" Good night Zarea" she said with picking up her worn clothes "glad to have met you this day."

~Dressed in a simple cotton dress and her ankle dagger she silently walked over to her sleeping stag, lied down beside him resting her head on his soft neck. She herd Adien speak of his life serving the dark maiden which she knew was her destiny to do. She admired his loyalty to her, she felt safe with her new friends, she feel asleep content and excited about what the next day would bring.~

Adian also sighed and pulled himself reluctantly from the water. It was easy to forget the cold snow in here.

"One of my teachers once said that sleep is a weapon," he said. "If used properly. 'Only the fearful and the foolish ignore it, at their peril.' I bid you good night, Zarae. Everyone."

He toweled dry and collected his things, donning his clothing again before he went out to find a bed. Once settled in to his satisfaction he let himself drift until finally he faded into a deep sleep...the first he'd had since he'd arrived in the village.

((Unless someone has a fascinating dream to share with the group, sleep is a very boring thing, RP wise))

Zazzt came out of his Reverie early the next morning. He stretched, and pulling on his normal traveling set of clothing, walked out the door, to stand in the predawn cold. His breath fogging the air in front of him, Zazzt twirled his staff above his head, faster and faster, until it became a single blur, and letting its momentum carry it out of the spin, grabbed the end, and jumping onto one hand, whipped it in a large circle. Remembering that he hadn't practiced his special style for a while, he sighed. This day would be difficult magically, but he had to keep the movements fresh in his mind, so dropping the staff, he kicked out, and a burst of flame accompanied the leg, and using the momentum of the kick, he dropped to the ground in the splits, and raising up on his hands, started spinning, a halo of electricity formed around him, and when Zazzt came out of the spin, the charge raced out in all directions, crashing against the door of his mansion. The energy produced a small, yet obvious tremor inside the place. Oblivious to this, Zazzt continued his training, firing off magical spell after spell, making each stike the equivalent of a fireball or a lightning bolt.

After everyone left, Zarae hopped out, quickly dried off slipped into her spidersilk shirt and pants. Her wet hair dripped everywhere so Zarae quickly braided it and pinned it up. She carried her boots, piwafwi and belt in her arms.
Finding a nice spot, she sat on the couch and made herself comfortable. the horses were settled in, most laying down, Argo asleep standing up. She pulled a dagger out of her belt and laid in under the cushion in her hand. She always slept with a weapon in reach, just like she always carried at least 3 weapons at all times. her head hit the cushion and she drifted into reverie.
the sounds of movement 'awoke' her. the door open and a nice bitter breeze wafted in. a clank then small tremors forced her to get up and stretch. the horses stirred and whinneyed at the motions. Moonlight walked twords the couches.
the table of food called her and Zarae made her way there. feeling more adventurous she sampled a dark colored treat.
the taste was beyond anything she knew of. it was sweet, a slight bit of bitter; but it was delicious.
Chocolate hadnt made it to her city.
'what have I been missing?' she wondered.
She grabbed a some more pieces and then a small piece of bread and fish with a glass of a fruity drink.
others began to stir as she quietly eat and Zazzt went thru some 'morning' routine.

Adian's reaction to Zazzt's practicing was a little more energetic. He grabbed up his sword and rushed to the room to throw open the door...only to duck madly out of the way of a blazing stream of electricity.

With his shoulder-length hair crackling slightly, Adian headed back to his room muttering to himself. He was only back in a good temper after he had gotten in a few morning stretches in.

(I'm assuming that the last few posts have taken place within a building of some sorts)
Veraka hadn't known how many times he'd walked around the lake, grief stricken. As he set his eyes across the lake, droplets of water rolled down his face and down his armor, creating a miniature cascade of waterfalls. It was what his eyes caught next that made him stop. He saw, a good 200 yards from him, a drow hurling lighting all over the place. Narrowing his eyes, he recognized the one to be a drow monk; "Zazzt, we've got to stop running into each other like this" he whispered under his breath."
Veraka decided to go see what was going on; he was lonely and would gladly welcome someone to talk to, given the fact that Aurora had gone missing more than two weeks earlier. He approached the sparring drow, his armor glistening in the suns light.

(( LMAO ))

Watching the events of the morning unfold Cinderanna could only laugh. ~ Taking a piece of wheat bread and cheese from the table she sat next to Zarea who was totally enjoying her chocolate breakfast~ " delicious isn't it? you might want to take it easy on that stuff though " she offered.

" Good morning Adian have your ears stopped ringing? she asked him holding back a large grin.

((Magical save point; we're on the other side of an invisible door in the middle of nowhere >.> ))

Pwdn, who had not left the baths when the others had, was nowhere to be seen. Nodding off in the water she'd slipped under and pooled at the bottom, but now gradually rose out as an amorphpus mass and, yawning languidly to herself, resumed her usual shape. She stepped from the cooled waters with a sleight wobble; her figure was rather more accentuated and she would have seemed slightly taller to any who might have seen her, but realising this she leaned back over the bath and returned some of the excess water she'd accidentally absorbed, the clear liquid cascading from her hair as she wrang it out. It was just a force of habit to go through the motions, but she felt it helped her keep in touch with the people she was helping and so would often perform what to her were very simple tasks in a more complex manner, as others who did them might. Retrieving her simple robe and ribbon from a rail nearby she would the red ribbing about her hands and prayed to Ilmater in thanks and checked herself in the mirror before heading into the main hall to meet up with the others. "Good morning, did everyone sleep well?"

Lyon was drizzling honey over his porridge with great care, making an intricate geometric pattern of gold on the pale beige. Frad had managed to instruct a servant in the creation of apple, strawberry, pear, banana and apricot fritters; a number of each had been forthcoming and he enjoyed them greatly. He noted Zarae's sudden interest in the chocolate and shifted his seat nearer to hers. "Y'know, I can't guess at growing beans for that stuff in't dark. D'ya reckon ya might care ta discuss yer own sweets from yer home? I'd show ye a few things from our surface kitchens in return; ye ever heard of mocha latte?" He jabbed his spoon at the fritters with a satisfied smile, seeing that they were well-made. "Ye probably noticed I gotta taste for sweets."

Lyon looked up at Frad and Zarae, knowing that Frad would press this issue at camp after camp if she declined. It was then that Pwdn reappeared, however, and having gotten over the previous night's jitters he waved her over to banter once again, first about the porridge then about a favourite soured cream dish from his home which she simply HAD to try, though he didn't know how to make it, then about her home which quickly became her travels, and all the things she'd seen and done. Eventually, Lyon on his third work of porridge art and she having enjoyed a number of small bowls of trifle, currently forming a five-tier pyramid, Pwdn mentioned the favour she'd wanted to ask. ""Favour? Ah yes." Lyon cleared his throat and twirled his spoon to stop the flow of honey. "You were going to ask me to join your faith." Pwdn was startled, he'd not shown any signs of having known what she'd ask the night before. "Oh, I figured it out once I'd calmed down; I should tell you that I've actually, um. Well you're-" Pwdn nodded her head. "Yes, and until then you thought I was going to ask you to spend the night with you. I hadn't realised you were so interested, or I'd have been clearer, I'm sorry for misleading you." Lyon nodded and was quiet for a moment. "I found a library here, and the suffering god doesn't make it easy for you, does he?" Pwdn laughed, and shook her head. "Ilmater is the only reason I have the strength to persevere, it is those who cause the suffering that make it so hard. It's a difficult calling, yes, but in bringing peace and joy to the world with every action it could not be more worthy. But I don't think you are suited to my task." Lyon was clearly surprised. "I don't mean unworthy, I mean it's not in your nature. I cause no harm to anyone, no matter who they are or how much misery they cause. Could you spare the butchers of a village in combat, make the effort no leave them unharmed so that the law can be followed in their sentencing? Could you then speak for their defence in the trial when no-one else will? You are not a mediator, Lyon, you are a protector. I would think that you would be happier filling the role of a paladin." Lyon, who had until now assumed he would be sacrificing his sword for this, was overjoyed. A paladin was the very figure of the hero; and the paladin of Ilmater would surely give all and fight to the end to shield the weak and helpless, no matter who or where they were. "I can't possibly say no to that. How do I, um. . . is there a specific ritual or do I need to prove myself on a quest?" Pwdn shook her head, and gave him a reassuring smile. "Formalities, for a later time. If your heart is true to your course and your prayers sincere then you are one of the faithful. If your faith and heart drive you to serve him actively then he will aid you in this. The temple will wish to know of your joining, and through spending time the temples you can learn a great deal more about your task and yourself, but what is required is that you make the choice, and follow it through."
