With a muted curse he locks his combat helmet back on and switches his HUD to night vision. He unslings his assault rifle and scans the area for any potential hostiles and to get a general survey of his surroundings.
"Alright, I wasn't quite expecting that," he mutters, his voice coming emitting with only a slight distortion from tiny concealed speakers located on his helmet.
"Elwyn, I don't suppose you know where we are, right?"

Elwyn shook his head, "I have no translocative magic, and I do not know where we are." He looked around, gritting his teeth, "Gurguch is not with us. This is bad. And besides, why would I place us underground, where I can not see?"

The bard sighs. "Well, then, I suppose it's good that at least one of us can. At a guess, I would say we are under some great forest, possibly in one of the elven kingdoms. Of course, I could be wrong, but it is very likely This could even be under Cormanthor, or even Evermeet itself!"
He turns to look at the others. "You know, that is probably not a good thing. If any elves see us, they might take us for a raiding party from the Underdark. Somehow I doubt they would stop to ask first. We do not look like ordinary travelers. And most elves see drow and kill first, ask questions later. Not that I blame them, after all the things our kind have done to their surface kin."
He lets his eyes slide into darkvision, and pulls out twin daggers from his boots. He whispers the command to enlarge them, and they suddenly shift to become two long, elegant sabers with silver hilts in the image of a nude elf female with arms stretched to the moon at the pommel, which is a large, flat round moonstone. The hand guards twine in a graceful curve down toward the pommel in the shape of ivy vines that culr back out slightly at the end. The eyes of the elf-woman are tiny amethysts. Each blade has intricate knotwork down one side, and a word in elven script on the other- Honor on one, Valor on the other.
Alright, he says softly. Ven, you can see, yes? We should take point. That way the others can follow us safely."

"Understood."
Ah, how easily he falls back on his training; for the first time since arriving here he is in his element. Though he hasn't spent centuries of both real and virtual time training with these strangers, it is still a small comfort to have a handful of people to at least fight by his side should the need arise.
Ven keeps his rifle tucked against his shoulder, the barrel always pointing where he is looking. He bends his knees ever so slightly in order to help dampen any noise his rubber-soled boots may make. The Serothan glances behind him to make sure the others are ready, then frowns.
"Elwyn, do you need a light source?"

Elwyn shook his head, "I suppose we really need no stealth at this point in time so," He looked at Lothir, "You'd best close your eyes." He held up his hand, and it was wreathed in bright white light (daylight spell, but more halogen lamp) He was careful to build it up slowly, but he was still loathe to look at his fist. "Now then, shall we boldly go where no man, erm drow, has gone before?" He carefully walked down the passage two steps, then turned around, "I really haven't the slightest clue where to go..." He mumbled sheepishly, "I've never been to this particular of Lord Nathree's outposts."

"Lovely," the bard remarks cynically. "It's the blind leading the night-blind. Damn, but that's bright. So who is this Lord Nathree? Friendly, I hope." He moves up with Ven, though his darkvision is now useless, meaning that anything invisible in normal light can now ambush them without warning.
He shifts his grip on his blades, feeling the cool, comfortable weight in his slim hands. They bring him confidence, as always, the words engraved reminding him of his faith. He debates wether to cast a protective spell now. or wait until later, in case there is trouble ahead. He's never been one to waste magic, especially when he has so little to begin with.
He brings a hand up to adjust the straps of the ebon-wood lute at his back, wondering if he should have left it behind, and just use the flute down here. But even the flute has a limited use for its magic, and as always, he decides it's better to save it for when they are in truly dire straits. After all, he thinks with a grin, far better to use it to even high odds than to waste its peculiar power on just a few weak enemies!

Elwyn shrugged, "I never really knew his true history, only that he was once drow, but transcended the bonds of mortality long ago, to embrace the dark power of lich-hood long, long ago. There are records of him as long ago as the Empire of Netheril, but I may have simply been mistaken, however, of this I am certain, he has collected many artifacts of empires past, from Netheril to Myth Drannor. As he existed in lich-hood, he transcended that too, becoming... not quite a deity, but not exactly a living mortal." Elwyn looked down the corridor, "Well, might as well go right, as it is usually the right way to go." He smiled feebly at his joke.

He opens his mouth to ask the very same question that the bard did in regards to their mysterious, skeletal friend, but Lothir beats him to it.
He returns his attention to the fore, eyes alert for any danger and then he catches himself. Furrowing his brow he looks to Lothir as something the other Serothan just said sinks in.
"Wait, you can see in the [i:5ja1tx6i]dark[/i:5ja1tx6i]?"

He looks surprised by the question, then turns slowly to Ven, with a puzzled frown. "Of course! All of us can- how else would we survive in the Underdark for millenia? Do you mean to say you CAN'T?!"
He gapes at the revelation. Obviously, Ven is much different from the drow he is familiar with, the immortality being only a small part of that difference. <I'm going to have to ask him about that world he comes from,> he tells himself, making a mental note to discuss it later.

"We just use night vision. Or failing that, flares or some other light source."
He tilts his head.
"Underdark, you say? I suppose that long enough underground (I assume) you'd develop night sight. Hunh," he says by way of punctuation.
He makes a similar mental note to have a sit-down with this odd dal and see just how widely the two species diverge.

Elwyn scratched his head, "Well, judging from his weapon, their world is slightly more advanced than ours technologically, and possibly millenia in the future." He waved at Ven, "I suppose that we are looking at the future of your race, Lothir."

He smirks. "Well, if that is the future, I feel sorry for all those Lolthites- they will be sooo disappointed!" Then he considers for a bit. "Though I can't say it looks to be a bad thing. Perhaps one day...."
He shakes his head. "Enough theorizing- shall we continue?" He nods briefly to Ven, as the two again take the lead.

As the group moves down the tunnel, they seem to be alone, Elwyn occasionally checks over his shoulder, and his hand constantly moves towards his pack. A few moments of this pass, and Elwyn pulls on Lothir's cloak, "Can you see anything out in the darkness, my range is limited." As he stops walking a slight shuffling is heard for perhaps moments, before it too stops.
