She chuckled shaking her head.

"Nothing lasts forever, indeed I will need to go herb hunting tomorrow, but the effects of that salve will last for at least a full cycle of the sun and the moon"

((AKA. About 24 hours :D ))

She looked over at T'risstree then "He should be healed enough to awaken by the time I need to reapply this, at which point he can make his own decisions what he wants in terms of his own health."

She would not make un necissary decisions for her patients, if it was life or death she would do what she needed to keep them alive, if the paladin decided he wanted to risk the kind of scarring healing his injuries would do, she would heal him and the pain would leave his body. If he chose the path that would let his body heal without the scarring or at least not as much if any did last, though she knew things that would help reduce the chance of that too. However that was his call to make. She would do what needed to be done untill that point. To preserve his life, his body but most of all his intregity to make those decisions for himself.

[i:2wnajr2y]"Did not your time underground not teach you not to trust appearances, daughter of the Underdark? Especially where mages are concerned."[/i:2wnajr2y] The bird shimmered into Zazzt stood in the room, his body whole, hair clean and no blemishes on his skin. The next instant he turned into Rogar and after that into what Zazzt looked like now, [i:2wnajr2y]"Tell me, which one is the real me?"[/i:2wnajr2y]

T'risstree folded her arms and calmly looked at Zazzt for a long moment who stood in the room where the bird had been but first spoke to Myna.

"I understand sister and will remain here with Talwyn until he awakens and you return with your herbs for the salve. I believe he is a sensible man and will listen to your advice."[/color:2wnajr2y]

She then turned her calm gaze back to Zazzt.

"You are such a fool. First you whine about not being trusted then you blatantly flaunt you power and ability as a mage PLUS remind me that mages are not to be trusted. I have to say that is ass backward brilliance of the highest order."[/color:2wnajr2y] She laughed aloud as Zazzt scowled. She hiccuped as she stopped herself laughing. "In fact that is the mzilst ruzzo'iso attempt to inspire trust I have ever seen."[/color:2wnajr2y]

She smiled a dry smile as she regained control over her amusement and continued calmly.

"You have forgotten another cardinal saying of our people, [b:2wnajr2y]"I have but one enemy: myself!"[/b:2wnajr2y] By you actions and words, you have shown you can't be trusted but then you only have yourself to blame for this: you are your own worst enemy - you can't even trust yourself! If you choosen to remain quiet, had not forced yourself on us after you had been asked to leave you would of had a better time in lulling me into a sense of less wariness. But now I know you can not keep you word to remain out of this room. Carefully spoken and crafted words travel as far as they are spoken, which in this case is probably about 5 feet in length...not that far really. Yet actions shout in a volume that can be deafening and can be seen at times from vast distances, and we have seen your actions so clearly."[/color:2wnajr2y]

She paused for a moment, looking down at the next piece of linen to be torn into strips before she looked up and scrutinised at Zazzt closely, examining him and gauging his reactions.

"Hmm...I believe I know why you act the way you do. You are young...barely an adult and therefore lack the experience, wisdom and maturity to know when to back away, when not to push yourself forward. To you it is all about you. You think nothing more than yourself and what others can do for you, not really what you can do for others out of pure selfless alturism. You've boasted to me that you utterly destroyed your own house, by yourself with ease. Lets be clear about that: you MURDERED your own family! Such is the claim of one who has darkness on their soul and to be honest, it is nothing to boast about with pride if you are not evil. In fact it is shameful. You do realise you have butchered your own kin, your only link to anything outside of yourself? They may have worshipped Lolth but you never gave them the chance to change and that makes you just as evil and twisted as any Matron Mother.

You have become the thing you sought to destroy...boy."[/color:2wnajr2y]

Her final words were almost a soft sad whisper but were as damning and hard hitting as a full slap to the face.

T'risstree returned her attention briefly to the growing pile of badages as she spoke, no longer looking at Zazzt.

"You may be angered by my words and seek to strike out at me but that will only confirm my argument. That you are consumed by power and will act like a child who knows nothing about being natha seke sea'an. I have nothing more to say to you and your words will mean even less to me. Go now as I have work to do and a man who needs my help and we do not need your blathering to distract me or disturb him. Or stay and kill us both with your vast powers. That would be like squashing an ant wouldn't it? So easy. Anyway, I don't fear you at all or anything that you think you can do to me. I also would think the paladins god would seek you out for murdering his newly raised servant and incinerate your body just like the assassin but send your soul to a special hell reserved for traitors and fratricides."[/color:2wnajr2y] She sat back again, her golden amber eyes staring directly at Zazzt, a serene faint smile on her sensuous lips.

Zazzt stepped through the door into the room, Scrap resumed his normal form, "You know, perhaps that is why my peers in my house called me the Mad Drow," He looked at her sternly, "As for your comment about my evilness, and my comparison to Matron Mothers, there, child, I draw the line."
He seemed to grow in size, his cloak flew open, revealing the extent of his decomposition, lightnings flared across the room, scorching walls, but suddenly, he returned to normal proportions, and buttoned up his cloak, "I am no child, nor a matron mother. I do not boast about the destruction of my house, I simply tell it as a fact, with no pride on the line. The destruction of my House was murder, and for that I pay pentanence every day that I live. You do not know me, child. Do not presume to judge me, you are no paladin, you have only your assumptions, ingrained into your being from your time in the Underdark, and for all your masquerading as a priestess of Eilistraee, you are still that same priestess of Lolth!"
He turned around, hiding his face from her, "Forgive me, sometimes my anger gets the better of me, I did not mean to call you a priestess of Lolth, I am sure that you are strong in your faith." Zazzt sighed,"Almost a millennia I have spent, probing the world for knowledge of magic, and learning tricks of the sword from master after master. Learning, growing in power, until I learned the spells that allowed this," he waved a hand at Scrap, "This hawk is not my familiar, he is the teifling's animal companion. Not long before all of this, he and I had a friendly spar. It was amusing, but in the end, I lost control, same as when I destroyed my house. Everything the teifling held dear was destroyed, along with a most wonderful grove of trees."
Now Zazzt seemed to grow smaller, more bent with age, his hair became even more matted, and lost any semblance of luster that it had,"I worked those two spells, the ones that had taken my entire life to prepare, and brought it all back, at the cost of my body, and life." He looked at her again, his face was wrinkled, and his eyes seemed even more tired, "I had that second spell in reserve. It brought me back to this body, and slowly, oh so slowly, its energy purges the rot from my flesh." Zazzt motioned to Talwyn, "He will grow old, before my affliction is lifted." Zazzt held out his arm, and Scrap landed on it, "For my pains I got him. This marvelous beast contains a part of my soul, and some of my flesh, I guess you could say he is me." Suddenly, Zazzt returned to his normal sized, rotted self, "So accuse me not of evil, child, you know not of which you speak. If Torm decides to strike me down, I would welcome it, this world tires me, and yet, I cannot yet leave it, as commanded by my goddess."
He drew one of his swords, and placed it on the table in front of T'risstree, "Come, stike me, if you believe me to be akin to that assassin. I will not stop you. That sword will come through all of my wards with ease." He knelt on the floor, defensless.

For all of Zazzts theatrics, displays, threats and rages, nothing removed the calm faint smile on T'risstree lips. She observed that his manifest behaviour was like a tantrum that any spoilt, over indulged sniveling brat would have displayed after they'd been given a series of very hard smacks to their backside for being very a naughty boy. He also was completely insane and so totally narcissistic, it was a wonder he saw anything beyond his own sick, twisted and utterly myopic world view. That anyones else wishes could be respected was a totally alien concept to him.

Her point had been so eloquently proven beyond any shadow of doubt by his own outburst and rantings. He clearly showed that he was a nothing more than a deranged self centred child in a corpse's body, utterly unable to respect anyone's wishes but instead, rudely and obnoxiously insisted on forcing himself onto others when he was blindingly obviously that he was not wanted in their company. He also was being kept alive by some foul perverted magic no doubt as evidenced by the rot and decay within his body. Perhaps he was cursed but she did not care. Whom ever had cursed him would have had good reason and that was enough for her. Maybe the rot and decay were visable manifestations of his own soul?

She turned away, no longer looking at him. She did not engage with him at all, moving around the kneeling figure, keeping true to her word. Despite his dramatic gestures, she ignored him as if he was not even there anymore, as if he were completely invisible. He did not matter.

She hummed to herself a gentle sweet melodic song as she wound up the bandages, carefully wetting pieces of clean cloth in the basin and ever so gently placing over the paladins burns.

She reached into her own small travel pack and took out a tiny opaque jar with a silver lid. She carefully opened the jar. Inside was a clear ointment that smelt strongly of cloves and camphor. With her little finger, she dabbed a tiny amount of the ointment on Talwyn's eyelids. She watched carefully as the healing balm did it's work, healing his eye lids from the weeping rawness and working its way into the eyes itself. She smiled to herself. Shanilath's last gift was working. She replaced the lid and tucked the jar away in her pack once more.

She took up the damp cloth once more and kneeling beside the bed, tenderly bathed the paladins burns still humming her soothing melody as she worked.

As she moved down his right arm, she noticed that the skin and flesh around his right hand were almost normal. She looked closer and saw on his third finger, which was fully healed, was a simple but worn looking golden ring. The ring had no markings she could see but she sensed it's magic. The rest of his hand looked as though he had a minor steam burn and the redness was slowly fading as she watched.

A warm smile grew on her face as she tucked a loose tendril of her silver hair back away from her face as she smiled down at Talwyn who lay oblivious to all around him.

He would live.

I swam out of unconsciousness, disturbed by the rants of some bloody idiot who just would not shut up.

I started to feel peeved that this arrogant swine felt it necessary to have a hissy fit in my room. This was a new kind of hell I was not familiar with: being stuck in a room completely helpless with a barking mad conceited self absorbed moron who would not shut the hell up and leave me in peace.

I heard T'risstree tell the person to go away but instead he let fly with a series of blasts that damaged the room and blathered some trite insensible drivel that further awoke me and got me more annoyed.

There were a a moment of blessed peace after he pleaded for T'risstree to kill him. I wasn't able to speak otherwise I would have urged her to cut that buggers throat so I could go back to sleep in peace. Instead, she ignored him and for the next couple of minutes there was some quiet as she hummed a sweet tune, spread some ointment on my eyes and bathed my burns. It had an immediate effect as very shortlyafterwards the pain and stinging my eyes felt was gone and I could see once more.

I opened my eyes and looked around, saw the smiling dark face of T'risstree looking down at me and off to one side was that walking corpse who had smeared my armour earlier this evening. It was he that had pleaded to be butchered like a pig and it was him that was being so bloody annoying it fueled me enough to speak. I painfully turned my head, openning up some of the burnt skin along it and I fixed my gaze squarely on him.

"You...on....your...knees....You...are...annoying...me....so....[b:2dxq4cyn]bugger...off!" [/b:2dxq4cyn]I managed to rhasp out painfully from my burnt throat. I struggled to lift my left arm and pointed at the door, indicting he use it.

The pain was so excruciating that I suddenly felt blackness overwhelm my senses once again.

OOC: What threats?
Zazzt shrugged, and sank through the floor of the room, as he left, the scroch marks gradually started to recede. Scrap meanwhile, shrugged and only screeched out, "You really should not move, you know." He turned to look at T'risstree, "My house did not worship Lolth, they worshiped Eilistraee, but they did change, and the new Matron Mother would not change her ways, despite my counsel to her." Then Scrap too, faded away, along with Zazzt's sword.

The two stood outside of Talwyn's room, Zazzt kept his hood up, hiding his features, "Do not fear," He said merrily, "The good paladin's life is in no danger, the two in there with him are excellent healers." With that, he turned, and walked through the crowd and sat at one of the tables, head in his hands. Scrap flew off, back to Gareth.

Carrying a large basket of extra bandages and some special salves the she had picked up and also made during her travels, Zzadrina bustled in, nudging the door open with her foot.
" I'm sorry I didn't come earlier. I was a little preoccupied."[/color:3vz1vk4p] She said, frowning and thinking about her conversation with Katriana about damages done, bla bla bla...

" I brought some extra bandages, and some special salves. They should help heal the burns more quickly. If you like, I know some healing spells that were made to help heal burns." [/color:3vz1vk4p]She said, kneeling down next to T'risstree. She glanced over at Zazzt as he left, her little frown, so unfitting for her face, deepening.

" Good. We can't risk him being around Talwyn. Drastically hurt bodies are more susceptible to rot."[/color:3vz1vk4p] She reached forward to fix a place where the bandages were snagging, then sat back to receive any orders from her more healing-knowledgeable sisters.

Meanwhile, Elenwe had taken a place outside the door, and held her staff tightly in both hands. It would be folly for anyone to try and enter.
" Hey Lil, what''''s going on in the world news today?"
" Some woman got whacked!"
"....Apparently, this is cause for celebration in Lil Land."

Zazzt saw the guard that the hostess of the inn had posted at Talwyn's door, and wasnt particularly impressed. While it was his nature to try and help in any way that he could, he offered that ring, that would return Talwyn's health to his burned body, at no cost to any of them, and all he got in return were insults, from a child, none the less. But, Zazzt sighed, he was not unduly surprised, he had expected that sort of reaction, and his temper would possibly become his undoing, twice times in these last few days he had come close to destroying innocent bystanders, the first time he had been able to rectify his mistake, not so in this case. Either way, what that female had said had some merit, and that, above all was what drew his anger the most. He sighed, 'Ah well, in some cases one must look at the mirror to better improve their soul.' He thought sourly, 'If only I had gotten a nicer mirror..." Suddenly, he stood up, and turning around, walked back towards Talwyn's room, he looked Elenwe, "Let me pass, the healers in there are taking too long, I have a much faster method."

She was just about to say something, something about taking the arguments away from Tal he didnt need the strain, then he woke himself and she cringed mostly to herself, he didnt need that kind of stress on his body.

Then it was over Zazzt left and another woman had entered the room offering supplies and assistance. She moved over to Talwyn's ear and whispered soft words, she could only hope that her words penetrated through the veil of pain that had him lapsing back.

"Rest and be easy"

she looked at both of the other women,

"I will leave to get the supplies I need, someone needs to stay with him at all times, to make sure if he needs something those needs are met and keep irritations far from him. His sense of rest must be preserved, he needs time to rest and relax"

She stopped beside the other woman that had just entered and bowed her head respectfully to her.

"Thank you for your assistance, I must go collect supplies, I will return shortly."

She smiled as she looked back after walking through the door. "Keep him as comfortable and calm as possible"

With that she was gone moving down and out of the inn, it would take her time to find the herbs but hopefully not too much time.

Zazzt scowled, with no reply forthcoming, and was about to turn ethereal and go into the room, when one of the healers walked out, right past him, without so much as looking in his direction, he was about to tell her to let him use the ring, but she was out of the doors. He quickly cast a spell that allowed him to speak to her at long distances (message), "Wait, listen to me, the ring that I gave you, it would take all of his injuries, and his pain, and transfer them to me. I can not feel pain, in this body of mine, so it would matter little to me, and Talwyn would be healed by the next day, can you herbs promise you that? No they cannot!"

She paused and sighed just outside the inn.

"Come walk with me we can talk, I am just outside"

she recognized the voice and the feel of the magic so she waited, for him to move to her and to walk with her, when he did (assuming he did of course) she continued her walk.

"My herbs are not meant to heal, though they do help, they are to ease the pain. If you wish him to use that ring wait untill tomorrow and talk to him about it. That is his decision to make, not mine. He will live and his mind will rouse to conciousness by the mornings light."

Zazzt nodded, "Very well," He said, walking with Myna, "But why would he refuse healing? That ring can remove all of his injuries... at the cost that I bear them," He shrugged, "But that is a pittance, I can not feel anything, living like this. Is that not a good deal?" He asked, looking at Myna, "It is every creature's base instinct to live, and keep living, mine too, despite... this" He gestured at his misshapen body, "It was a fairly funny story about how all of this happened." He sighed, "But I guess you are too busy to hear it, what herbs do you need, tell me the whole list, and I can get them for you, with out leaving this spot." He said, winking. He reached under his cloak, and pulled out his little animal figurines, "You will love these."

"Its because you have earned their trust yet, They dont know your intentions, you could be planning to steal his life-force or Curse him."

Gareth said, Turning the corner with a health potion in his hand, Giving it to Myna.

"I realize that..." Zazzt turned around, stuffing his figurines away, "Ah, Gareth, how are you? Oh, I am afraid that conventional potions will not help much, I poured down three draughts, from my hip flask, and there was only minimal effect, the only thing that would work is that ring of mine, and it would be child's play to just burst into the room, and stun them all and transfer his injuries, but that might not send the right message, if you get my meaning." Zazzt shrugged, "In any case, perhaps I should just let the human suffer, the pompus prick that he is..."

Hes been pacing the hall outside Talwyn's room ever since they brought his friend in from outside, wondering how his friend is faring. He picks up the conversation between Zazzt and the female, Triss'tree, and watches all the coming and going into the room by the ladies. It's frustrating, and he sighs and finally asks Elenwe if he can go in to see how the knight is doing, or at least see if he might help.

<Giving one's own life for another- I know what that is like,> he thinks, remembering the dagger he took once, some time ago, to protect a friend. And that from his own insane sister. He can appreciate Zazzt's professed desire to help, but he also knows that such things, when offered so adamantly, can bring suspicion and anger.

Clearly, the young Paladin's faith was strong enough to warrent the attention of the god himself. It reminds him of the times he has seen the Dark Maiden- twice in his life now, and both of them had put a mark on his soul. After all, was it not the holy charm he wears, the "Tears of the Moon" that had brought him back? He clenches it tightly, feeling the silver against his chest beneath his silken shirt, and looks to Elenwe expectantly.
By the Dark Maiden''s grace do we meet. May she guide and protect us.
