Zazzt chuckled, "He is a drow, you do realize that, and I would dissuade thievery from drow, unless you have a method for picking locks with one hand at best?" The path the trio walked was well paved, and surrounded by more of those tree-houses. Even though the town was in ruin, Myth Drannor was an obviously beautiful place. But gnashing sounds could be heard in the background, along with the sounds of diabolic laughter followed by horrible screams. "We should hurry, t'would be fatal to get caught outside at night, without reaching where we are going..." Zazzt stroked his chin, "In fact..." He placed a hand on each of his companions, and the trio vanished, much to the displeasure of a band of bearded devils in search of sport.
They appeared on a well kept terrace, looking right at the bottom of the dragon's tail, at a large crystal door in its crystal egg. Zazzt stepped back, "Welcome to Myth Drannor's Royal Library."

Lothir's eyes lit up at the mention of a library. "Myth Drannor? I've heard tales of this place. Never thought I'd see it, though. Oh, forgive my ill manners. I am Lothir, of no house worth mentioning. I've been traveling for a long time. You two are the first ones who haven't tried to chase me off. Vendui, abbanen." He made a small bow, then turned to the human.
"I must warn you, sir, I've no patience for thieves. My entire family are thieves of the worst sort, so I highly doubt you'd make it far before losing your hand- or some other part you value, for that matter, sir." He slipped the twin daggers from his boots, twirling them casually, while his gaze flicked momentarily to the human's belt, smirking.
He whispered the words of command, and instantly the blades grew in his hands to a pair of elegant and beautiful sabers with hilts in the shape of an elven maiden with a sword beneth a full moon, the pommels being the moon, and made of large milk-white moonstones, and the elf-maid carved of silver, with a narrow guard shaped like ivy vines curling from the cross-guard downward. Each blade had a single word etched into it in elven- one read Valor, the other, Honor.
"Shall we go in, then?" he asked, grinning.

"Good. Now I will have these on the surface later." he said. He was a merchant of stolen goods on the surface. "Is there more than books in there? Such as, displays?" he said with a grin. Even though he had faced drow magic before.

He sighed, shaking his head. Humans were often as mercenary and impetuous as any of his kin, and he found himself wondering if their shorter lives were really so much a natural thing as a product of their rash way of rushing into everything.
Can't be helped, he though with a small smile, and stepped inside the crystal door, letting his eyes adjust to the gloom. The air was stale and smelled of death and decay- and much worse things. He took a moment to adjust before cautiously moving in, alert for the first sign of traps or enemies.

"Don't worry, if he lead us here, there cannot be much danger. Right?" he said to the cautious drow, trying to calm him. "Right, Zazzt?" he asked. And why would a library be dangerous? These questions pondered his mind.

"You ask me of danger in a city overrun by legions of devils?" Zazzt laughed, "But no, I believe this place to be uncomprimised, and there are no traps, only an Elven High Mage could have opened that door. You are neither... then how...??" Zazzt glared at the Lothir's swords, "Where did you come by those?" He asked.

"I had them specially commissioned- in secret of course- shortly before I left home. As to the door? I did nothing. Perhaps others have been here before?" He listens carefully, still on edge. The other drow has said it should be safe, so why does he feel as if they are being watched? To many years watching one's back, waiting for it to sprout a dagger, he supposes. Or perhaps it's that smell. A library should smell of old books, dust, and leather bindings, not death.
He moves further in, wondering what lore lies within, what ancient tales and songs he might find in this tresure trove of wisdom...

"Tome of Knowlege? Or paperwheight?" he asked, pulling out a black book. "Ever seen it?" he looked at it for a moment, then opened it. "Maybe a diagram..." he said, flipping through the book wildly. "Oh, look!" he yelled, pulling out a bright lime book. "This sticks ou-" he stopped. After page one. Infact, he stopped moving all together, as if he turned to stone.

"Wonderful. Why do humans always go rushing into things? Life is far too unpredictable as it is. Take this as an example. Some thief- he didn't even bother to check for traps, magical or otherwise. I hope you know how to fix this, becuase I certainly don't."

He turns to the other drow, shaking his head in disgust. Obviously this venture is perilous in more ways than one. He considers taking the book from Lizarus, but decides against touching it.

Perhaps.... He uses the tip of one blade to close it while Lizarus still holds it, hoping to break whatever spell holds the human.
The book falls, snapping closed, and slowly the thief returns to normal.

He looks at Lizarus and shakes his head again with a little smirk. "I'd be more careful if I were you. No telling what kind of spell-traps some of these tomes might have on them. And I wouldn't recommend picking that one up again. Probably best to leave it- there are some things people simply are not meant to know..."

He wanders off toward another section, searching for something of interest. Eventually, he finds a long row of books that seem safe enough. "'The Fall of Netheril'? Sounds promising. Or, wait- 'A Paladin in Hell- A Tale of Redemption'... Hmm. Wonder where they kept all the music-books?" He picks up the two volumes, and wanders off in search of his favorite subject.

"Blegh. That wasn't a magical trap, that was a plain portrait of Medusa... Good for thievery, much?" he said with a smile. Medusa portraits were strong, but this one was weak. He picked up the book, and put it away. "Either way, that black book was of summoning undead. Necromancy, if you would." he said, casually. "It had a few, bloody, diagrams and spell words. It was interesting, and I'm taking it." he said picking it back up from the floor. "Either way, better grab a few books of each type."

Zazzt shook his head in disgust at the his companions, "Fools, this place is the safest for these books, either way, most of these are books of old elven lore, beyond your comprehension, no books leave these doors, understood?" He asked, crossing his arms, "The books I removed had no place here, they were works of the deepest evil, and before you ask, yes I perused them, to my great dismay."

"Oh, that is dissapointing." he said a tiny bit sadly. "If I gad brought back those, the cult would be pleased." he thought. "I guess I will copy some diagrrams and texts on to parchment." he declared. These could be put in a book, the ones he would copy.

Zazzt frowned, "What cult?" He had a few run ins with another cult, one that he had made quite an impact on in this area. One that he hated with all his heart for their attempts to take the elven Art, and put it to their uses.

"Elven lore?" Lothir calls back, still perusing the shelves for music or poems. "I've always had an interest in that subject. My father's library back home had some fascinating volumes. Can't take anything out? A pity. I'd love to take a longer look at these. But as you say, I suppose they are safer here."

He stops when he finds a book on Bladesinger lore. He grins, and pulls a leather-bound journal from his pack, and flips open the empty pages. He chants a quick spell, touching both books, and the new one begins copying into the blank journal. Several minutes pass before he has finished. He does the same for the other two. Then he looks around and finds a section of spell books.

"Ah, these will be nice," he says, flipping through the contents. He finds a few in particular, and takes a few moments to memorize them. "This place is amazing! When I get back to Anterris I'll have so many things to share with my friends. Wonder what they're doing now?..."

He still can't shake the odd feeling that there is something here that shouldn't be. He moves deeper into the stacks, following his nose to- he stops cold. "Um, I think perhaps I found the source of that odd smell," he says. There is a body lying slumped against the wall, what was once a moon elf in robes, clutching a staff.

"Zazzt, would this be your high mage? Looks as if the creatures out there got to him. Must have come here seeking refuge. I guess he found it too late. What should we do? You seem to know more aboutthis place than we do."

As he searched his memory, he found the horrifying image of Medusa. As he kept it in his mind, he copied it down to parchment. He had captured the very face of Medusa herself. He rolled it up into a scroll, and tied it with string. As he did that, he recited a few words. "O god of gold, may you seal this paper, so it may only be used by the elf that has seen... The horrifying." he muttered.

As he finished the sentence, the scroll glowed a deep blue, and then it passed. To other wizards, they would find the scroll un-openable, and they would not wish to open in. "That will keep it sealed." he said proudly. And now, he could leave, right after the necromancers tome. "Next is this." he said, holding up the black tome.
