a rather belated introduction

Post by Helix »

Hello. *embarrassed wave* I joined...er well...a long time ago, but never posted. :#

I'm Chinese-American, an anthropology major, hope to go back to school one day for that. I'm a casual NWN player, and first became aware of D&D and drow in high school. I played a bit of PnP on and off and read some of the novels. It didn't really honestly get its hooks into me though, until I was in college and picked up NWN1. I think I found this site browsing the NWN boards at Bioware and having always liked the drow twins since I knew of them, I kept coming back for the Eilistraeen info and the stories. =)

I'm female, although Sharaz, my NWN character, is male. I just have sort of a soft spot for drow males, I guess. =) I have lots of other characters, but he's one of the longest-running and has always been one of my favorites, although he and the others are more just artistic muses then PCs I actually play with nowadays; I'm missing my NWN CDs at the moment, argh! =\

Anyway, nice to meet you, and hope to learn many more things about the game, and drow. =)

Greetings Helix/Sharaz and welcome to our little corner of the net.

I can understand having a soft spot for drow males (and not just drow ones ;)). Though the softest spot in my heart is unequivocally reserved for Eilistraee. Or something along those lines. Among the Forgotten Realms deities there are, in my mind, few relationships as interesting as that between Eilistraee, her brother Vhaeraun and their mother Lolth. So that too I can well understand.

Either way, welcome again and hope that you will enjoy your time here. And if you have any questions feel free to ask as we’ll gladly try and answer.

And may you find a home of sorts here. :)

Welcome! Hope you receive a warm welcome from everyone. And, since Unen/Uneana (never did know which one was it) and Tyrmer have been absent lately, I;m left with the duty of warning you in case Rooky shows up. But she's a good girl in the end.

Welcome!

I suppose I understand your soft spot for male drow, as much as I have for drow females ;) and Chinesse Americans. Pardon me being frank. ;)

Glad you could finally find your way here and dare to post.

Make sure you do it every once in a while.

@ Talwyn: Thanks. =) And Helix is fine.

@ Shirl'e: Thanks. Yeah, the twins are awesome. :D Oh uh...I realize this has probably been reiterated to death, but question: I tried to use a 100x100 avatar and it got distorted; is it possible for me to do something about that, or should I just get another avatar? :?

@ Argoth: I'll keep an eye out. And okaaay, right. And thanks, I'll try. =)

Hmm, 100x100 [i:1pdvlj74]should[/i:1pdvlj74] work; I thought it only rescaled when it is larger than 110x170. For instance, Argoth's avatar is a bit smaller and doesn't get distorted.

If you can't get it to work you could try putting it on a 110x170 canvas or such. Or you can show me the image and I can have a look at it.

Welcome to our little corner of the web.

I first encountered Eilistraee in the Starlight and Shadows trilogy (written by Elaine Cunningham) and I was hooked on everything Eilistraee since then. Pretty much every Forgotten Realms character I've created since then had Eilistraee as their patron deity, even if they weren't drow.

And I hope you find your cd's for NWN.
