I applied the judaeo-Christian ethos in regards to this debate on whether or not gods/goddesses would accept their worshippers bowing to more than one deity.
In the case of Clerics, Monks & Paladins the answer is an emphatic no. If you sign up with a god, they have your ass. That is until you recant that deity and sign up with another, the you'll have a very annoyed deity who won't forget your betrayal.
Yes the realms are polytheastic and your average person would no doubt send up a prayer to which ever deity they seek to appeal [Umberlee if crossing the sea safely, Hanali or Sune for love etc].
However, paying homage to mutually antagonistic gods would be frown on both by the clergy of the deities and the deities themselves.
In my case, if a lay person sent up a prayer to Torm, and then I heard him also send up prayers to Bane, I'd certainly have stronh words and would take firm action on that.
So this is my point, deities that are mutually atagonistic, in this case Lloth & Eilistraee, would not listen to a person who proportedly sent prayers/appeals to both goddesses.
They would want a firm committment from the worshipper to be on their side, and not support someone who is having a bet each way.

you make a veary good point and i agree with you on a majority of what you have to say.including you can either worship a good god or a bad one but not both.
most good deitys don't mind if a person worships more then 1 god so long as it's reasnable thake quilq of the 7 sisters she is both a cleric and chosen of mystera/eilistraee which makes sense since ther allies and both forces of good. an example of the oppiste would be your torm/bane worshiper wich simpley wont do.
one last thing im prety sure that a deity like mask/varuren/cyric would at least would let a person feingn worship as long as it was to further there masters cause.

I'll create one then.

Christian ethos in my opinion will get you no where. Hypocrisy in itself is one thing, but Christian hypocrisy is one thing. I personally am ashamed my ancestors embraced it fully and kicked away the gods of old. But, these arguments are not welcomed in a place like this.
I apologize for continuing it.

No need to apologise Rooky
I'm not christian at all.
I was just utilising the biblical quote to emphasis a point from a deities persepective
A schizophrenic Cleric
hehe not sure how that would work out for the cleric in the end...maybe it would be lightning bolts?

Just like the berserker nun in Helllsing!!! Or the Vatican's 13th Chapter for that matter. After all that I've kinda considered converting to the Anglican Church.
Never mind...
Well Christianity is nowadays founded on hypocrisy. It wasn't like this also, but it is now. That's why I stopped attending. My hatred towards all the self-richous devotion and way of life in general, has grown.
