[quote="Argoth":2fauxktu] BTW, did anyone actually READ the poem Beowulf? [/quote:2fauxktu]

I have, it was required reading in high school, having seen the movie it was obviously not required reading for the writers. As an aside Beowulf has become synonymous with vomit in my circle of friends.

O_O A few Star Wars and no-one thought to put this ... ?
Do or do not, there is no try. {Star Wars, of course :P}

Captain: "Ah. The bird's flightless, isn't it?"
Steven: "Well ... yes."
Captain: "Well s'not going to go anywhere, now is it?" *Picks up his violin and begins to play a tune*
{Master and Commander}

Maestro: "Have you heard this tune?" *Plays a tune on the piano*
Pastor: "No ..."
Maestro: *Frowns* "Well then. Maybe this?" *Plays another tune*
Pastor: "Ah!" *Hums along with it* "That's great! I didn't know you wrote that!"
Maestro: "I didn't"
{Amadeus}

"My ... preciousss" {Lord of the Rings}

Captain: "Now, Steven. If you had no choice, which of those two Weevils would you choose?"
Steven: *Puts his glasses on* "Well ... I'd choose the biggest one on the right."
Captain: *Laughs* "Don't you know? You're always supposed to choose the lesser of two Weevils!" *The whole table bursts into laughter*
{Master and Commander}

Davy Jones: "Caan you condemn an innocent man—a friend—to a lifetime of servitude in your name while you roam free?"
Jack Sparrow: *thinks* "Yep! I'm good with it!"
{Pirates of the Caribbean}

Will: "Right where I left you." *sees hammer* "Not where I left you ...* *Sees Jack* "You're the one they're hunting. The pirate."

Jack: "You seem somewhat familiar. Have I threatened you before?"

Will: "I make a point of avoiding familiarity with pirates."

Jack: "Ah, well, then it would be a shame to put a black mark on your record. So, if you'll excuse me..."
{Pirates of the Caribbean}

Will: I do! And I practice with them... three hours a day!

Jack: You need to find yourself a girl, mate! Or perhaps the reason you practice three hours a day is that you already found one and are otherwise incapable of wooing said strumpet. You're not a eunuch, are you? *looks down pointedly*

Will: I practice three hours a day so that when I meet a pirate, I can kill it!
{Pirates of the Caribbean}

I probably didn't write them the way they were in the movie, but I did what I could from memory XP

O'Connel: "Well, I was about to die. Seemed like a good thing to do at the moment."

I actually rather liked both the movie and the poem, but only because I have enough sense in my head to know that trying to compare literature to movies is just not a good idea.

"Mmm, men don't always know when they're happy...but I think so."

Are you saying I lack sense? :p lol

"Life is a storm my young friend, you will bask in the sunlight one moment be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into the storm as you shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst for I will do mine." - Edmond Dantes from The Count of Monte Cristo

"Why not just kill them? I'll do it! I'll run up to Paris - bam, bam, bam, bam. I'm back before week's end. We spend the treasure. How is this a bad plan?" - Jacopo also from The Count of Monte Cristo

Edmond: "There are two thousand, three hundred and twenty-two blocks in my walls. I have counted them many times."

Abbe Faria: "Ahh! [He laughs] But have you named them yet?"

Set means where the story took place, shot means where it was filmed.

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God d*** it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy s*** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden from Fight Club
