The drow smirked down at the creature as it was finally defeated, he'd wrap an arm about Lynx, whispering softly to her. [i:3o6udzdv]You did good, Lynx. [/i:3o6udzdv]His attention would then be drawn to Onix, his facial features still masked by the shadows that swirled about it from his spell. [i:3o6udzdv]Maybe a bit of both, since this is not where we intended to be.[/i:3o6udzdv]

[i:3emhchgt]Uma...[/i:3emhchgt] She grinned a little, leaning against the drow, watching the scene below, quietly. The tension was leaving her body so the elf relaxed some, somewhat weary. [i:3emhchgt]It was a good choice of schools. Enchantment. Love it.[/i:3emhchgt]

Lynx blew a strand of hair from her eyes, glancing to Ryltar sidelongs, before focusing on the dead Leecher. [i:3emhchgt]What in the Nine Hells is that thing? And who is -that-?[/i:3emhchgt] Her teal eyes locked on Onix as she wiped her cheeks with her hand, murmuring to Ryltar before flashing a crooked grin to Onyx. [i:3emhchgt]Just a pair of celestials passing by.[/i:3emhchgt]

"You know, luck tends to follow me around- then again, it's not always GOOD luck," the bard says with a lop-sided grin, and shrugs. "Thank you for the assistance, good comrades. I'm sorry our meeting could not be under more pleasant circumstances."

He bows low and briefly to the two newcomers, then pulls his blades from the dead leecher, and turns to Onix. "I pity your having to squash so many large bugs so often. Perhaps your people should consider using repelling magic?" He grins, and chuckles softly. Then ehe wipes his sabers clean and whispers the command for them to shift to dagger form, and slides them down into his boots.

"So, what now? Is the threat over?" he asks Onix hopefully.

((irony, the more i study hebrew, the more i wanna type the letters backwards. or maybe its the dyslexia? lol

Moonlight slowed as he neared the gathered group, including two she didnt know. his hoofs halted and she gracefully slid of his 17 hands high back. he neighed softly and the rogue patted him down.
she nodded to the group, then walked over to the dead thing and went to searching for her throwing knives.
"i hope this stupid things done with. as i said before, its not like we aint got enough of our own monstrosities to deal with."
lifting up on a piece of the armor she saw one burried and guessed the second one was deeper.
"this aint gunna be pretty."
she reached in to fish them out, the first one easy and slid right out. the drowess set in on the ground and began fishing for the next one, her fingers reaching deeper into the soft fleshy tissue and slim that made up some if his body's fluids (im guessing its how the 'blood' is)

OOC: If its anything like a real bug, I'd say that's quite likely. I've been stomping grasshoppers every day for weeks, and no end in sight to the little pests. They're like a plague here lately!!

[i:25sgk0ix]What in the Nine Hells is that thing? And who is -that-?[/i:25sgk0ix][/color:25sgk0ix]

Onix lifted his helmet to look at Lynx and said "THAT," he pointed at the dead Leecher, "was a Life Leecher, and not an ordinary one, but a queen at that. Not the easiest thing to take down, and even tougher if it happened to lay a brood before we killed it."

"As to who I am; Master Gunnery Sergeant Theta-180, at your service; but for the most part, these guys know me as Onix," the clone said as he went about checking his weapons for their ammo count.
Exchanging his plasma cannon for his M92 'Mauler' HMG, Onix checked the weapons status, then ejected the current magazine, pulled out a new 150-round drum mag and pushed it into the receiver until the resounding 'CLICK' indicated that the mag was secure and ready for use. He did the same thing to his railgun, ejecting the magazine and pushing a new one into the receiver.

"I pity your having to squash so many large bugs so often. Perhaps your people should consider using repelling magic?" He grins, and chuckles softly.[/color:25sgk0ix]

Hearing the comment from the bard, the clone turned to him and replied, "suffice to say that my people aren't exactly skilled in the art of magic, more along the lines of psychic abilities and those are quite less than the number of spell casters I see before me, if your numbers are the same throughout your entire world? As to my having to squash so many large bugs; when your entire species and nation is fighting for it's very existence, what matters to me and my fellow brothers hardly matters in our minds." He said this in the most dead-pan of remarks, his tone as even as balanced blade.

"As to your question of whether or not the threat is over; well for the moment, yes, it is. Now where is that young lad, his mother'll be worried sick about him."

Lothir looks at him as if uncertain how to respond, then finally shakes his head. "We REALLY need to teach you how to live a little. It may not seem like it to you now, but there IS more to life then fighting, my friend. And since you asked, no, having this many magic-users in one place is not the norm on this or any other world I know of- mine included. Well, except maybe in Simara back home- it's a whole city run by mages. And I here there used to be an empire of wizards called Netheril on this one, but it's long gone. As to the child- I stuck him in a tree before we dove into the fight. He should still be there. Oh, and sorry I forgot about twisting the blades- guess I was too caught up in the 'swing' of things!"

I[i:1awemer9]t is a very entertaining school, I agree, it's why I've chosen to focus on it as well as my other studies. [/i:1awemer9] The drow would take Lynx's hand and would recite the words to a dimension door spell, dissapearing from where he was with Lynx and reappearing with her in front of Onix and the others. [i:1awemer9]I am Ryltar, of Battledale, and this is Lynx of Athkatla.[/i:1awemer9] He'd motion to the sun elf who stood beside him, glancing up towards Onix before shifting his gaze to the others.

Onix looked at the bard with a tilt of his helmet; "Lothir, there's one thing you should know about me and my brothers, we were created to fight, bred for warfare, and trained to kill in every manner imaginable by our superiors. So, if you wish to teach me how to 'live', I'm all open to it, but do take into consideration that as long as there is a threat to me or my men, I will fight, and if need be, I will die." It was with grim determination that Onix spat the last words of that statement out, knowing for a damn fact that he was expected to fight, to protect, and if need be, to die.

"Oh and Lothir, don't worry about the twisting the blades to kill the bug, everyone forgets one details or another; only reason that I know is because I've been fighting these things for the past near five decades of my life."

Onix then made his way over to where Lothir said he'd put the young one; reaching up into the tree, the clone grabbed the child and brought him down. When he turned around he found himself surrounded by the villagers, including the lad's mother.

"Here you go ma'am; he's safe." With that, Onix turned on his heel, despite the fact that the elven mother was about to thank him for returning her son to her unharmed.

"Thank you, soldier," was what she managed before Onix turned his helmeted head toward her and replied; "it wasn't me that saved your son, ma'am. You can thank the two drow over there if you wish to thank someone," he indicated Lothir and Zarae with a armored hand. With that he walked off, without stopping to accept the gratitude of the villagers. That was who he was, Onix-180, clone soldier and SPARTAN Commando of the 501st[/size:1zbtn2b1] Hunters Battalion.

When Ryltar and his friend, Lynx, teleported in front of him, Onix stopped.
[i:1zbtn2b1]I am Ryltar, of Battledale, and this is Lynx of Athlakha[/i:1zbtn2b1][/color:1zbtn2b1]

"A pleasure to meet the both of you, and my thanks for your assistance in taking down that piece of shit; suffice to say that your timing was impeccable," he said this as he pulled off his helmet; a sharp hiss could be heard as air rushed into the breached seal. The clone's half-elven face was that of almost pale, ghost white, which was contradicted by his blood red crimson eyes. Sharp features along his face indicated that he was a seasoned veteran, with a good number of scares to back that up as well.

Seeing Zarae trying to dig out her throwing knife, the clone came over and said "allow me." Balling his hand into a fist, he plunged it into the creatures gelatinous soft tissue until his hand stumbled upon the throwing dagger. Whipping the blade off, he offered it back to Zarae.

That was when he noticed that something was odd about the bug; the thorax was smaller than usual. Making his way over to the dead creatures abdomen, Onix ejected one of his wrist-gauntlet vibro-blades and drove it into the thorax of the creature. When Onix opened up his expression changed from neutral to one of worry and anger.
"Oh well, that's just bloody brilliant," he muttered to himself, his tone very dark and direct.

"oh, um, thanks i think is the word?" she said as she took it from him and sheathed it into its place. bending down she picked up the other one while reaching for a small cloth to wipe the blade off.
the rogue joined back up with the whole as they introduced themselves.
"Vendui."
before she could introduce herself, the alien's words caused her to turn around and ask, "now what?"

Onix heard Zarae's question and replied; "this queen that we just killed has laid her brood already. I was too late to stop the bugs blasted Nest from spawning. This hunt has only gotten bigger, and now I'm looking for any place dark, damp, and preferably underground. That'd be the best bet as to where the Leecher laid it's eggs."

Crossing her arms, "then your looking at everything. we have hundreds of races who dwell underground and even in large cities in what they call the Underdark," the rogue replied.

"Well that's a start, though I'm not really liking the idea of hiking all across the underground of this entire continent whilst those eggs are incubating. Besides I wouldn't know the first place to start. If what you're telling me is true, then there's probably more than a million possibilities out there as it is; and without communications to my mothership, this will be one helluva tough mission."

Onix looked around, letting that thought sink in; the truth was was that he had the slightest clue on where to start first.

Lynx studied Onix' face briefly, then looked 'twixt Zarae and Lothir before murmuring to Ryltar in Sylvan. [i:3om8rmhr]More of your kinsmen here, I see.[/i:3om8rmhr]

Onix' words made her frown and the young elf folded her arms, thinking it over. [i:3om8rmhr]Oh sheesh, then we're heading to the Underdark?[/i:3om8rmhr] She glanced to Ryltar quickly, unsure. She had heard many scary stories of that place, and even though she had grown to enjoy one of the dark elf's company, a thought of heading to the Night Below was highly unsettling - an elven female in the Underdark was generally a bad bad idea.

Again she switched to Sylvan, speaking to the drow mage. [i:3om8rmhr]What shall we do?[/i:3om8rmhr]

Ryltar tapped his chin in thought as he listened to Onix and the others. It had been some time since House Jaelre had been chased out from the Underdark, an event the drow well remembered, and at the time he was considerably weaker than he was now. Needless to say, the idea of delving into the Night Below and paying backa few Spider Kissers potentially wasn't something he wanted to pass up. His gaze would shift to Lynx, replying to her in Sylvan. [i:eheqqspa]We can go with them. It will be a learning experience for us both, and may enable me to exact some vengeance on those who chased my brothers and I from the Underdark some time ago. I will keep you safe, do not worry[/i:eheqqspa]. His gaze then shifted to Onix, studying the creature a bit.[i:eheqqspa] My companion and I will aid you, if you like.[/i:eheqqspa]
