The drow peered at the villager, curiously a moment before flipping up his hood. [i:27f4ocvd]..Of course we are. Lynx, shall we go aid our.. Comrade?[/i:27f4ocvd] The Drow's question wasn't really much of one so much as giving ane xcuse for both of them to move on towards the cliff. When he reached it he'd crouch down, surveying the battle below. [i:27f4ocvd]That's a strange gnomish device, he has. I wonder if he realizes those are prone to exploding.[/i:27f4ocvd]

[i:1juk608r]Don't even remind me.[/i:1juk608r] Lynx made a face under her shawl, watching the battle too. [i:1juk608r]I assume we're going to intervene, hmm?[/i:1juk608r] After a moment she drew her bow out and quickly stringed it, then nocked an arrow, taking an aim at the bug-like creature, trying to locate a weak spot in the bug's shell.
[i:1juk608r]Never fought those before, would be interesting.[/i:1juk608r] The elf murmured an incantation of a True strike before releasing the acid dripping arrow at the beast.

[i:1mvjwpfv]Interesting, and easy my dear.[/i:1mvjwpfv] The drow replied calmly. Watching intently he'd move a hand to a pouch at his belt, and then a second. His other would pull out a bowl. He'd pour the ground up herbs and bone dust into the bowl and wold speak the incantation to a Phatasmal Killer spell before sending off the haunting image to assail the bug creatures mind and perhaps scare it to death.

When Zarae opens up the cocoon, she'll stumble upon an undead looking corpse, nothing but a dried up husk of skin, bone, and dead tissue. A real zombie, just not animated, would tumble out to meet Zarae, though, it would still be warm with body heat.

Eren looked at the two with quizzical look, but dismissed the words from the drow and made his way back to the militia.

The arrow hit the creature's hide, and penetrated slightly into the it's armor, but the bug didn't even flinch, despite the flesh-eating acid that came with the arrow; rather it reared up to it's full height, and roared an unearthly howl, it's clawed arms unfurling and readying to swipe at the clone.

Onix released the trigger and behind his helmet, his face went from one of cold, determination to that of disbelief. The Leecher stood a full 15 meters off the ground at its apex, it's clawed appendages coming down, swiping for Onix.

The clone sent a mental command through his nuero-linkage to his nano-armor main CPU.

The clone's armor turned a deep red, much like that of flexing muscle tissue; flexing his legs, Onix launched himself into the air, and leaped over the swinging claws, a height normally not achievable by any normal person without the aid of magic.
His HMG bucked as he fired staccato bursts into the Leecher's chest and head, trying to stun it.

Onix hit the ground, rolled, and came up firing and running; the clone emptied his entire 150 round drum, hit the release, slammed a new mag into the receiver and cocked the weapon, with a speed that could only be achieved from nearly two decades of ingrained, hyper-trained reflexes.
As he finished slamming the new mag into his weapon, Onix saw the village's militia charging down to attack the Leecher.
The clone cursed beneath his breath at the impeccable timing of the militia's attack.

As the militia came hollering down towards the bug, the Leecher did not notice the incoming Phantasmal Killer spell.
Even as the spell put images of it's most feared enemy in its head, the bug felt no fear towards the images, it didn't need to. The creature [b:2v1nlpuj]knew[/b:2v1nlpuj] that it possessed the capacity to eat away at the very life-force of that hated enemy, so what reason did it have to fear it.

At the incoming militia, the bug turned it's attention towards the militia, it's eyes seeing not new enemies, but easy meals for it to gorge on.
The sudden impact of a hyper-sonic round impacting in the chest reminded the creature that some enemies were easy, such as the militia, and some were a real challenge, like Onix wielding his railgun, and his apparently, newly arrived allies, he hoped.

[i:1q6dmd5u]By Auril's frozen tits...[/i:1q6dmd5u] Lynx cussed, watching the maddened beast falling into frenzy. [i:1q6dmd5u]Easy, you said?[/i:1q6dmd5u] The elf smirked, nocking another arrow. [i:1q6dmd5u]Toss a Disintegrate at it's hide and I will aim for exactly that spot? Maybe that would let the arrow through the shell.[/i:1q6dmd5u]

[i:25c8zrpb]Hm. I was about to suggest that. [/i:25c8zrpb] It was a lie, of course, but the Drow was far too proud to admit that she had come up with a clever plan before he did. Taking out some sulphur and string, he'd coat the bit of hair in it. As he did so he'd recite the incantations to a a disintergate spell, aimming for the creatures chest.

As Ryltar unleashed his magic, Lynx murmured another True strike spell, which increased her ability to aim drastically... and then another acid covered arrow was sent flying the monster's way, right into it's chest, at the spot where the Disintegration spell was supposed to hit.

"just my luck," she mumbled to herself as she pushed that body back in. standing up she dusted the pieces of dried whatever fell on her, she didnt wanna think of what it really was.
giving one last look, she began to make her way out the cave to catch up with Lothir.

Moonlight was close to the cave entrance. when he saw the male drow who rode ealier he came close over to him and the boy he now was escorting. his large size would be intimidating if the boy was unfamilier with equines.
He neighed softly, lowering his head to the youngling and sniffed.

((were gunna have to wait for Lothir soon so he dont fall too far behind))

Onix saw the spell that the drow mage unleashed hit the Leecher; but what happened was not what he had in mind for a good idea.

When Lynx's arrow hit the bug's chest armor, it did penetrate the weakened section that was previously hit by the Disintegrate spell; but the bug kept on going, wanting Onix either dead or as its next meal.

Four tentacles emerged from it's back, much like octopus tentacles in appearance but each one ending in a small, talon-like barb. Onix didn't like seeing those tentacles up and out, as the stream of curses that emanated from his helmet gave any indication of just that.

The bug lashed out at the clone with the barbed tentacles flaying. Onix engaged his OMNI armor to max speed; in under a split second, his blood is flooded with nanobots, which in turn, started to increase his heart rate. The clone felt his veins bulge as the pressure applied to them doubled, but being a clone, he was built for this, ready for the strain that came along with the armor's augmentation to his body's natural abilities.

Jumping back within the same second that the Leecher swung, Onix rolled as he dove out of his jump. Coming out of his roll, Onix brought up his M92 and proceeded to unload a series of well placed bursts at the bugs weakened chest armor. The bullets hit their mark, but only a hand full of them, as the bug's movements were fast as well.

Looking up to Lynx and Ryltar, "Use a concussive force to daze it!!!" Onix bellowed to the two, pointing at the Leecher's head to indicate a target.

[i:16yegsb2] " Concussive force hm? Lynx, cast a Chromatic Orb at the creature, or a Hold Monster spell. " [/i:16yegsb2]After giving the elf those instructions Ryltar himself would begin to weave another spell, scattering some coal dust and slate dust out into the air he mumured the incantation for a Darkbolt spell before sending thestreaming beam of Darkness at the creature.

[i:3wgo2t1b]Understood.[/i:3wgo2t1b] Lynx replied curtly, trusting her companion, shouldering her bow and reaching to her pouch, quickly rummaging through it and taking out a pinch of chalk dust.

Her fingers curled quickly and she murmured the arcane words before blowing at the dust on her palm - sending that little gust toward the monster - and surely it reached the Leecher in a mere second - much much quicker than one would expect from a gust like that.

As the little dust cloud reached the bug, it surrounded the creature - and if the elf's willppower was enough, it would have [i:3wgo2t1b]Held[/i:3wgo2t1b] the [i:3wgo2t1b]monster[/i:3wgo2t1b].

The bard saw the large black animal approach, and hoped it was as friendly as it appeared. He hoisted the boy up onto its back, and hopped up behind him, waiting for Zarae. "Are there any more survivors?" He called back into the cave. Deep down, he knew there had been only one, but still....

A moment later, his keen ears picked up the commotion back toward the village. "I think we'd better get back and see what's going on. It sounds like our companion might need help!"

The clone saw the Leecher dive for him, then stop in mid-launch; whatever that odd female elf did had worked, though it obviously was getting on the bug's nerves, as the Leecher then proceeded to twist and thrash about, wanting to be released.

Despite it being created from dark sorcery and having a limited spell-like resistance, the bug wouldn't budge, being solidly stuck in place from Lynx's [i:1mvb4991]Hold Monster[/i:1mvb4991] spell.

The magical attack that the drow mage unleashed hit the bug squarely in the chest(?).The Leecher didn't look to take any damage from the magic attack, but the spell did do the one thing that Onix had wanted it to do: stun the creature. The bug roared out randomly as it stumbled from left to right, unable to keep it's balance and sense of direction; however, Onix knew that the dazed effect was a very limited tactic; the bug would only stay stunned for about 10 seconds, maybe less since the source of the attack was magic-based, not technological, and it sure as shit WASN'T a BANG.

"Concussive as in [b:1mvb4991]BOOM[/b:1mvb4991] concussive!!" he shouted at the two elves, firing a last staccato burst to both emphasize his point and to somewhat shut the Leecher up.

Slinging his M92 across his back, Onix pulled out the one weapon he hoped could punch a hole into the blasted bug; the XPAC ((look at the intro or his profile for full name)).

Bringing the huge gun out from it's place on his back armor and primed the weapon. Onix gave the light artillery piece a thorough look-over, as he had never actually used something like this before, so giving the weapon a good pre-use look-over was definitely within his interests.

However, a series of shouts and yells drew his attention from the weapon; the gathered militia, seeing the immobilized Leecher and thinking it was defenseless now, began to charge down from their gathered spot. . . right for the bug.

Onix's blood turned to ice as he realized the fatal mistake behind their charge; while the bug itself was completely immobilized and incapable of movement, assuming whatever the female elf was doing she kept up, it was capable of moving independent appendages if it focused it's own will through them. Those appendages included the newly sprouted tentacles.

"Oh shit. . ." he stopped mid-sentence, realizing what the Leecher was completely; "IT"S A QUEEN!!"

Turning to the charging, hollering band of sword-armed folks, the clone shouted "Stop charging. . . YOU FOOLS!" But his warning fell upon deaf ears, as the first of the militia came within range of the bug, and all hell broke loose.

Two tentacles lashed out, breaking through the spell's hold, and pierced the chests of two strong, half-elven fighters. Lifting the the two screaming swordsmen off the ground, the Leecher, began it's dark feeding process.
Within seconds, the strong, ample frames of the half-elves began to writhe away, turning into old, shriveled elders, that looked like they would see their last breath, as the bug drained their life energies away.
The Leecher let out a roar of pure rage as new found strength flooded it's system, though, this was but a snack to the hungry bug.

Dropping the old, crippled fighters onto the ground, the Leecher found four more swordsmen that came within range of it's deadly tentacles, but it didn't want to leech on them, leaving the valuable life force trapped within them that kept the two first swordsmen alive.
No, the Leecher wanted to fully drain them; so, four tentacles lashed out, though it took a considerable amount of energy from the bug to break through the will of Lynx for it's tentacles to move.
Four more of the militia were scooped of their feet as the barbed appendages grappled them and hoisted them off the ground.
This time however, the Leecher brought one of the elven fighters to it's head, where four sharp, large fangs protruded from it's face.
The bug punctured the fighters armor with these fangs and again used it's life-draining ablilty to suck the life force of the elf completely out of him, leaving nothing of but a dead, dry sack of bones, cartilage, and tissue, all held together within the dead elf's skin. ((think the images from The Mummy))

It let loose a roar of victory as the elf's life force surged into its body and fueled its power, allowing it to gain some leverage against Lynx's spell.

Onix didn't even think; he just acted. Dropping to one knee while holding the XPAC, with his free hand, Onix pulled out a cylinder shaped object from his belt. He depressed a button on the object and hollered "FLASH OUT!!"
Then threw the HIFB((High Intensity Flash Bang; basically a reg military flash-bang on steroids)) grenade at the bug, and turned his helmet away.

A moment later, a light with the intensity greater than that of the sun, lit up the area around the bug, followed by a bang of epic proportions. The resulting detonation blinding any normal human within 25 meters of the area for up to a minute and deafening them for an equal amount of time as the resulting 'BAANNGG!' was the equivalent of having a full-on lighting bolt strike right next to you.

the sounds in the distance, she had to get going.
she ran out the cave, the words of the bard echoing in.
the drowess hurried twords to Moonlight who had Lothir and the kid on his back. he neighed to her.
"yeah i know," she sent back to Moonlight.
then she called to them, "scoot forward."
running and throwing her momentum forward, she flipped up and onto her steed's back, landing softly.
"that way," the rogue directed to Moonlight. holding on with her legs around his thick body, she also held on to Lothir, not thinking to ask before they were galloping.
"we need to take him or place him somewhere safe," she said of the boy as they rode fast.

Lynx kept her hands outstretched, struggling to keep the monster in place - it was draining her, yet she was not going to let go without a fight, especially now as she saw -what- the monster was doing to the militia folks. So the young elf just gritted her teeth, widening her stance a bit, feeling her forehead covering with sweat as she remained focused, concentrating as hard as possible, trying to NOT let the monster shrug off her spell.

[i:3uorj2an]Do something, Ryltar! I can't hold it there long![/i:3uorj2an]

Her eyes remained locked on the beast - she could not allow herself to look away to not break the link between herself and the bespelled bug - unfortunately so... at the flash the girl yelped, staggering back and covering her face with her hands, her sensitive eyes - way more sensitive than of a human - aching, harmed by the light. She was blind right now, thus rendered useless for a minute. The Leecher was released as the result.
