"I cannot argue with that, Lady Pdwn," he said, taking the food gratefully. "Perhaps our gods meant our paths to cross here to accomplish this task. There is certainly a great good that can be done here in stopping this light at the lake, and perhaps we all have a lesson to learn. Maybe even from one another."

Zarae overheard the conversation in her reverie. she didnt know what to say. being sorta new to the Dark Maiden she didnt understand all of it. she only knew that she was led here for something.
the wind did slow and the snow stuck together. the night slowly faded and streaks of silver crept up the horizon.
the horses neighed softly, shaking the snow off them and digging in the snow.

"Hahahaha; you got a very good point there, Pwdn." The storm warrior took off his helmet as the wind started to slow; to Adian, "Though I've never heard of a Seldarine and Draconic deity working together, I suppose it is very possible, considering Bahamut stands for many of the same basic principles that Elistraee does." he took out a ration and munched on it.
"As to learning from one another, I would welcome such an opportunity."
He saw then that the sun began to peak over the horizon; the rays of light let his platinum dragon armor up and it shined out of the cave like crystalline rays.

Zarae stirred from her reverie. the movement of people as well as noises outside. she sat up, still wrapped tightly, to a gradually brightening morning.
she stood up to stretch her legs and pull out a piece of fruit and a bite of chocolate. she munched on these as she brung some grains to Moonlight.
he had been running around getting his legs going. when he saw zarae he quickly came to her and nuzzled her with his warm nose. she set the bowl down on the snow. he inspected the food and began chowing on it. the blanket was still secured.
Zarae then quickly entered back into the sheltar with the fire and others as they began to stir. (berries still got a few hrs)

Pwdn sighed as the dawn broke, having dozed intermittently through the night and been somewhat refreshed. She found the red ribbon tied about one wrist and wrapped it around her hands to pray and give thanks, and request Ilmater's aid in the new day. Lyon and Frad remained asleep, seemingly oblivious to the new day's activity.
Interestingly, the small patch of blue-green luminous mold that Pwdn had chosen to rest by had grown rather startlingly quickly overnight, and put out little spore fronds. She noted this with a smile, and brushed at them to watch the pretty light display as they swayed back and forth. "I've never really known what to make of such wide-open dawns as this. I can never really take it all in at once, I always feel like I'm missing something."

Veraka gave a muffled laugh to both Adian's and PWdn's reactions; "believe me when I say that there will many more of these types of sunrises, some even more spectacular than the last."
He seemed curious about Adian's reaction though; "My fellow paladin, have you never seen a sunrise in the mountains, when there were no clouds to be seen, or have you just witnessed your first one?"
He then slumped against the nearest wall, last night taking a good amount out of him. He noticed Zarae munching on some goodies, and asked her, "you wouldn't happen to have any more of that, would you?"

"Sunrises, yes. In the mountains with the sun blazing off the snow and the sky utterly blue? No...this is the first time."
He gazed out at the expanses of white flowing over valleys and rises, and interspersed with trees.
"There are many, many things I have not seen that surface folk take for granted," he said. "In truth, this is only my third excursion beyond the halls of Undermountain. I had lived there my entire life...but she gave me these gifts and she called to me. And so here I am.
"Rest assured that were I to take you to my home you would be equally amazed at many of the things to see there and below. Consider that an invitation. Open to all," he added.

Zarae handed him the bundle of chocolate she'd taken from Zazzt mansion as she watched the sunrise. had she not been blessed/cursed as a child, the magical spider tattoo on her face marking it, the sun would have really stung her eyes. she hadnt been on the surface long.
"maybe someday i can travel there. I wonder if it's anything like the complex back from my homeland?"

Veraka took the bundle of chocolate, saying to Zarae, "Thank ye much."
He then turned to Adian, "if I find Aurora on this little excursion, I'll be sure to accompany you on that trip, my friend."
The aasimar unwrapped the bundle that he got from Zarae, and popped a chocolate into his mouth; his eyes lit up.
"and Frad says your ignorant in the ways of the surface," he commented to Zarae. Upon seeing the still sleeping dwarf, Veraka's rare jokester side came out. He walked over to the sleeping dwarf and squatted down next to him; he got a few curious looks.
"Watch this," he said to Pwdn, and with that, less than two feet away from the dwarf, yelled "FRAD!!!"

Zarae watched as the warrior tried to freak out the dwarf.
"oh this cant be good. messing with a sleeping dwarf..."

Frad, lying where he was, slowly opened one eye and rolled it down from the ceiling to rest on the gloriously armoured paladin. There was no sudden jump, no rushed reaction, just a level stare as he composed his response. "Yer mother. . . was a pigeon. A fat ugly pigeon. With one leg." There was a pause as he stretched out, and then moved to get ready. "And I'm gonna put lava berries in yer food."
Pwdn, watching the calm, measured and menacing rebuke with wide eyes, suddenly began to laugh. "That has to be the one thing I least expected to happen. Lava berries? Aren't those potentially harmful?"
Frad looked over. "'Potentially' is a very broad term." He looked over to Veraka again, his vitriol now almost spent. "Broad like yer one-legged pigeon mother."
Lyon, who was himself slowly coming around, tried to say something in greeting to the morning and those who were sharing it with him. The resulting noise, while full of enthusiasm, could not by any stretch of the imagination be classed as language.

"that...was unexpected to say the least. now that everyone's up we can start getting ready."
she begins packing up her stuff and putting it up into her pack.
"before we go, someone will have to cast somekind of water or ice spell to put this fire out."

Veraka laughed a good long time before stopping: "well played, Frad, well played indeed."
The storm warrior chuckled at the thought of the dwarf putting lava berries into his meals; "Frad, I'm gonna admit, that would be a nice challenge for my gut to take on. Been to long since I tested my bodies limits; and that's 'broad like my one-legged, if she was, SOLAR pigeon mother." He let the implication sink in to the group.
Veraka, since he'd stayed up all night long, needed only to pick up his pack and sling it on. Hearing Zarae's comment brought up memories of Aurora into his head; his face grew solemn as he remembered her; then, he reacquired his normal visage, using the memories to as fuel to power his resolve.
"Ready whenever."
