He hears Ven's question about the gnomes, and laughs.

"What? No! Although I've heard some sages say they might be related. They're a bit shorter and less stocky than dwarves, but very smart- at least some are. Usually they have a tendancy to accidently blow things up with their magical and alchemic experiments. I met a gnome once who was a master alchemist and pyromancer- unfortunately, he was also rather clumsy and a pyromaniac, as well. He was kicked out of at least three cities that I know of, for blowing up several buildings and causing fires. What a mess!"

Then he shrugs. "At least this world is not in any danger. That's good. I think I understand what you meant by gravity. I've seen mages make things fall up, and I did learn a bit of astronomy from my father's ships' navigator- er, sea-faring ship, that is."

Then the last comment catches his attention. "What did you mean by 'mortal'? Are you saying you're not?"

Lothir lifts one thin white brow and gives Gareth an appraising glance. "I DO hope that was a jest. I don't believe I could stand by for that sort of thing. It's not exactly ethical, you know."

Elwyn nodded, "Hmm agreed, not ethical... but it would be interesting.... certainly worth experimentation..." Elwyn turned to Ven, "How did you, assuming you are not mortal, and you do not seem to be a mage, how did you assume the shape of a drow."

At the rather cavalier mention of bloodletting his hand drifts ever so casually to his sidearm, a fleeting caress letting him know that the holster is unbuttoned already and he can draw it in a moment's notice.

He seems slightly put off at the small barrage of questions, but does his best to answer (though his demeanor is decidedly more wary than before).

"I'm not sure what you mean, exactly. I'm a dal'Seroth, like him," he says as he jerks his chin towards Lothir. "This is my natural shape, and yes, I am technically immortal. Barring some calamity I will not die of old age."

He frowns thoughtfully, then.

"I take it that the dal'Seroth are called 'drow' here, then. I've never heard of the word before until now."

Elwyn smiled, "Well, he does have a point, that is the accepted definition of immortal, very well that answers my questions, then let us put away the mentions of bloodletting."

At the strange drow's answer, Lothir's jaw drops. "Seriously? How is that possible? On this world- and any other I've ever heard of- our kind never live more than seven or eight centuries, at most! And that's assuming they don't die from getting stabbed in the back or poisoned or spell-blasted by one of their fellow drow, or die from some monster, or other race's hand. Old age doesn't come often to us- too many other things ready and willing to kill us, particularly our own kind."

He sees Ven's hand moving o his strange weapon- which he would dearly love to examine- and holds up a hand in a gesture of peace. "Relax, Ven, I don't think they meant it. At least I'm fairly sure Gareth didn't. The human I'm not so sure of..." He shrugs and shakes his head with a wry grin.

"In any case, you would have nothing to fear from me. I've no quarrel with anyone but those who do harm to others UNPROVOKED." he says, with a meaningful stare at Elwyn.

"That's just how Seroth made us."

He listens to Lothir speak, and his face turns ashen all of a sudden as the bard lists common reasons for death among the drow.

"Wait, go back a moment--what did you say?"

"Which part?" he asks, ignoring Elwyn's comment for the moment. Truly, he has little patience for those with no compunctions against violence and bloodshed, having seen far too much of it in his own life thus far.

Could it be possible Ven is from a world without such evils in it? He finds it hard to believe, though perhaps not impossible. If an entire nation of dark elves can take to the seas as ruthless brigands bent on dominating the trade routes, ruled over by males who overthrew their matrons, then he supposes anything is possible with his kin. He shrugs. "Seroth is a god, I take it?"

"Ughh, Im just really not in the proper shape to be fighting other gods right now, I mean, I might have a godly apperence and godly ranger skill, but I, Even I cannot go against other gods" He gave with a sarcastic tone...
