"Lizarus then gaped silently at the attacking pit fiend, and sliently creeped up for a back shot. He coated his dagger in a sleep poison, then struck for his neck. If he couldn't reach, he would get his back instead. That would be just as good, maybe even better.

The dagger sank into the fiend's back, but it whipped around, yanking it out of Lizarus's hands, "Come now little man, did you think that a little sliver of metal could harm me?" Already the dagger was trickling down his back, and pooling on the floor as a puddle of molten steel, "Oh, and coated in poison too. Devils are immune to sleep effects, fool." It was then, that a stroke of lightning burst from his mouth, stopping inches from Lizarus's face. Zazzt shimmerd back into visibility, holding a sword wreathed in lightnings on his hand, a column of flame in his other. The devil stepped off the blade, "Painful" it said, and unleashed another blast of fire that filled the room.

"Why do I even try anymore..." he said, thrown up against the wall, his dagger only a puddle he saw. "Now my only family thing is a puddle.... Oh well." he said, lying on the floor. "Looks like a dagger in the back he doesn't have to fear..." he said, before going unconscious on the floor.

OOC: I see, no, devils are annoying creatures,
* Immunity to fire and poison.
* Resistance to acid 10 and cold 10.
* See in Darkness (Su): Some devils can see perfectly in darkness of any kind, even that created by a deeper darkness spell.
* Summon (Sp): Some devils share the ability to summon others of their kind (the success chance and type of devils summoned are noted in each monster description).
* Telepathy.
IC: The pit fiend looked at Lizarus, "Was that really the best that you could do, theif?" With that, he turned around to look at Zazzt and Lothir, "Come, kill me, or your friend will die."

OOC: I decided to wake up a little early. hope it is OK. Also, remember my scroll at the library?

Lizarus, slowly getting his eyes open, heard the devil laugh. He thought of what he could do in a situation like this, only then did he remember his scroll of Medusa. He slowly reached in, and opened it up for the devil to see.

The devil took one look at the scroll, and his face scrunched up, but alas it was too late, the effects took place, slowly, but surely, his limbs started to turn to stone. Despite his efforts, he couldn't stop the process, "This is not the last you will see of me, mortals!" The pit fiend growled, and teleported away. Zazzt sheathed his swords, and walked up to Lizarus, "Impressive, master theif, and now Devilbane." Zazzt put a hand on his shoulder, "Keep this up, and you will become just as well known as I."

"Lucky for that library you showed me." he mumbled. He was still a little dizzy from his thrust into the wall. "Either way, I'm gonna go." he said, rubbing his head, he went back to the tree, and got behind the bushes. He slowly went down a hidden ladder.

The bard sees his spell had no effect, and suddenly begins to rethink the wisdom of insulting the fiend. Then the fire comes at him, and he throws himself to the floor as it passes just over his head.

"Son-of-a-hellhound-B#@&%!!" he yells angrily, as his hair is singed. He is just starting to get up when he sees Lizarus try to stab the thing in its huge back, then Zazzt's ineffective fire. He starts to run at it with both blades out, ready to run it through with the enchanted sabers, but Lizarus has beat him to the punch, and the devil teleports away.

He hears the echange between his two comrades, and shakes his head in annoyed frustration as Lizarus takes off again. "That fellow really has no shame, does he? Good that he decided to show up again, though. I was starting to think we were in real trouble...."

Zazzt shrugged, "After the first time, I really did not expect better, most rogues are like that, here then gone." He turned around, to look at his ruined tower, "Ah, what a pity, it looks just as I found it, so much work to do... so much work."

The young drow chuckles ruefully. "Hate to let bygones be I-told-you-so's, but.... What was that you were saying about keeping those tomes safe? We might need Elmisnter himself to pull that off!" He grins, and begins helping Zazzt with the clean-up.

"Well, technically, the tomes are safe, he hasn't gotten into my library," Zazzt said, "But I see you point, that one is certainly a nuisance."

He almost chokes at the last comments. "I know more about them than I'd like, actually. That was a joke, if you hadn't noticed. Lords of Evil, blah, blah, yes I know. And thus would the Blood War spill into this world. Lovely. Hells, he could HAVE the Abyss as far as I'm concerned, if he wants it so badly. And may he choke on it! my POINT is that if it's as dangerous as you say, why don't you give it to Mystra? I'm sure she could protect it well enough. Goddess of magic and all that."

He looks back over at Zazzt, then sighs. "Sorry, I don't mean to rant, it's just that dealing with devils and such makes me a bit nervous. But I would imagine that he didn't much like that crack about the ugly tree. you don't think he'd take it personally, do you?"
