The ability to fade into forgetfulness clearly useful at times. The wolves acepted him the friend forgeting about him. Perhaps carring away the bow, it was a fine crafted one for one of a human child size of perhaps ten. No matter making bows were never a problem. Watching while not being watched debates on what to do after all the conflict. In the end raises slowly to still stay hidden one of the Drow handbows collected and fires it at Illorya. Let Drow be dealt with by Drow, the bolt might contain sleep poison or might contain one of the more vile ones.
Well aware that he will be detected again, the second Handbow is held at the ready.
Waits to see what might occur.

"Vorrick did you do something to the elder priestess?"
Silke had looked back to as the Earthers call it, "Check her six." But then again over the years both here on Toril and later on Earth she always checked the area behind her route of travel. One really never knew where trouble could come from. It was then that Silke noticed that the elder of the two priestesses toppled over.
Next Silke began to scan the trees, brush, and shadows around the clearing and trail. [i:zf0mdlz0]Better be ready for anything than to be sorry when trouble occurs.[/i:zf0mdlz0] Then Silke stepped to her right off the trail and into th shadows there. Her naturally dark skin, dark leather clothing and armor helped to blend her into her background. The only thing that could giver away her position was her whitish blond hair. She quietly raised the hood of her cloak to cover her hair.

Drow on the Surface face as many dangers as those in the Underdark. Just because the Rivvil is friendly does not mean he wishes to help you, he may just want to get you off guard before knifing you.
As the bolt hits Illorya she drops to the ground motionless, her fellow priestess fleeing into the woods.
Trying to regain some of his composure Vorrick answers Silke's questions, "I'm fine my stomach was growling it's been some time since I've eaten. I guess my recent misfortunes have made me a little irritable."
"The elder priestess? No aside from the fight I did nothing. If you're wondering if I killed her I can assure you she was alive when I left her."
Following Silke's gaze he loosens his sword out of its scabbard.

Silke was already stalking the creature that attacked Illorya. Though she was not sure as to whether it was man, Elf, or Drow. It was at least as skilled in the arts of stealth as she was. Silke moved from the shadows into the light, but using her talent at remaining hidden even in plain sight she stalked over to the corpse of the fallen, ([i:4rpv0t7d]in more ways that one in my opinion[/i:4rpv0t7d]) priestess of Eilistraee. She quietly knelt beside the still figure of the woman. [i:4rpv0t7d]If she breaths it is so very shallow that she might seem dead to others.[/i:4rpv0t7d] Silke scans the woods and underbrush around the prone body. [i:4rpv0t7d]Come on show yourself, only those highly trained in the arts of stealth can remain hidden so long.[/i:4rpv0t7d] A wry smirk crossed the Half-Drow's lips as she thought that.
Silke herself is a master of the ways of the Shadow Dancers. Kneeling here in plain sight yet invisible to every one without the benefit of any magical help was one of the things taught her early on in her career as a Dancer.
Her skills as a ranger were also at work as she tried to sense this woman's attacker before he or she did any harm to the others that were here in this small clearing just a little while ago. Silke was making like those Kung Fu masters she saw in the martial arts movies on television back on Earth. [i:4rpv0t7d]That Earth toy seemed like magic the first time I saw it, but an earthly philosopher once said, "Suficeintly higher technology would seem as magic to those who were primative to it." Or at least words to that effect.[/i:4rpv0t7d] She was casting out with her senses and disregarding the obvious. It was the inobvious she was searching for.
Vorrick may have thought her rude for not answering, but she did not want her voice betraying her position to the other stalker. [i:4rpv0t7d]This almost reminds me of my last tour in Iraq. An Al-Qeda sniper had my MPs pinned down at a check point on one of the major streets in Baghdad and none of them were skilled enough to stalk their attacker. I spent a long hour sneaking about sensing his presense until I found him and dispatched him with the shortsword length combat knife I carried then.[/i:4rpv0t7d] Silke knew she had to be cautious. Even when she found the other stalker. The other person may think that he or she was being helpful by taking down an enemy, or just carrying out some duty to punish those that have fallen in the eyes of the Dark Maiden. Since she was not yet sure as to the motivation of the other one, she thought that it was better to find him or her and learn from their behavior their motivation.

Unsure of what to think of Vorrick's outburst as she swore he was talking with him self but could not make out what he had said... she and her pack stayed close. Alaunavin knew the sound of an arrow being released from meters away... She scans the area but was not well known for her abilities of hunting. Alaunavin watched Silke and noticed it seemed as she just disappeared.. it hit her, she was a shadow dancer.
Alaunavin got to a knee and whispered to a few of the wolves 'Go find the injured man but be careful' she grabs some parchment and takes a quill and a knife and cuts herself.. using her own blood as ink she writes a message and gives it to one of the wolves. He takes it and yet does not want to leave her side as he whines is disapproval. "Nakota, I know, I will be fine and will take care of your family. But you need to go and protect them. Now GO!"
She did not know why but she did not know what to think of Vorrick. Could he be trusted even though she had saved his life. Alaunavin, started to worry as she could never harm anyone unless they try to harm her or her pack. She looks deep into his spirit as she chants quietly to herself, there and only there can see see what may be bothering him. With out blinking she stares deep and as soon as he looks to her he will be unable to move but he will recieve a vision of what she is doing.... What will she see only he can be willing to show.........

Silke glanced back down the trail toward the other two. She saw Vorrick wanting something to strike at, but not sure as where to strike. Alaunavin knelt by her pack and conversed with two of its leaders. One, the female, went off toward where Silke remembered leaving Major Patwin and Captain Maine with her father. She very quietly, like Patwin taught her, subvocally activated the tactical radio he made them bring on this mission.
"Scout this is Shadow, you have a four legged guest on her way to you. don't harm her, I think she is coming to help, over."
Before she sent the signal she had made sure her headset was inplace. She did not want the Major's voice giving away her position either. The earpieces to the headset fit in the ear canal so only she should hear when Patwin answered her.
Neal Patwin was a champion archer on the Prairie Band Pottawattamie Reservation north of Topeka, and he still hunted dear and turkey using either a compound bow or a compound crossbow during the archery seasons. On this mission he carried a highend compound crossbow that took regular arrows and was in a bullpup configuration similar to some of the modern assault rifles used in Europe. He liked the crossbow for missions to places like Toril, because you can, if necessary, restock your ammunition locally, a crossbow is easier to train those used to rifles to use, and you can still use a crossbow from the prone firing position where unless you are a very skilled bowman like him or Captain Rahn bows are hard to use effectively from that position. The very model of crossbow he was using was the one that he recomended to the State of Kansas to purchase for the 75th Civil Support Team and other state counter-terrorism units. He also referred this model to the Army for use in stealthy operations overseas on Earth. Now he was laying as flat as he could go in the shadows under a large raspberry bush and aiming his crossbow down the trail watching for the guest that Capt. Rahn had warned him about.
"Shadow, this is Scout, I copy, over."
Silke glanced around to make sure she was not given away by the reply. Then just as quietly as before she acknowledge the reply.
"Scout, this is Shadow, roger, out."
Seeing that whether the priestess was alive or dead there was nothing she could do for her, Silke quietly moved toward the foliage to her front. There she crept along the in the shadows carefully watching for the priestess' assailant. [i:1jfj4w11]I know you're in here. The first problem is exactly where are you, and the second one is why when we defused the situation did you attack anyway.[/i:1jfj4w11]

Eyes glancing wildly looking for Silke or the shooter Vorrick heard Alaunavin chanting. Turning to see what she was doing he felt his body lock up. Understanding rushed in and in the back of his mind he heard, [i:3q72s4ay]So she wants a look into who you really are, well why don't we give her a peek.[/i:3q72s4ay]
Against his will he suddenly finds himself reliving and projecting the memory of the night he left his family, the night he murdered all his female relatives but one. He could smell the blood staining his hands, here the gurgled breaths of his last victim as she struggled for air with a knife in her chest as clearly as if he were there again. He could feel the heat of the blade he'd used to permanently scar the face of his youngest sister. Worst of all he could feel all the pleasure he'd taken, all the joy he'd felt at the pain he'd caused her.
Forcing the image to vanish Vorrick screams at the voice in his head, [i:3q72s4ay]THAT'S NOT ME ANYMORE! I do not deny who I was but long ago I left that man behind.[/i:3q72s4ay]
Concentrating he projects a new image towards Alaunavin. The image is of two men both Vorrick but one much younger. The younger is bound by chains and held on a leash by the older. The image changes as Illorya appears and the older is now bound as he was durring his torture, but still maintaining a grip on the leash. As the image of Illorya places her hand on the older's chest he screams in pain and loses his grip. Illorya and the chains vanish and the young Vorrick stands triumphantly over the older, beaten and bruised.
Sneering in contempt the younger says, "Isn't it ironic that a servant of your goddess would be the one to set loose what Eilistraee demanded you lock away? Know this Vorrick, I've sat back and watched you be weak for too long, and I will never be bound again. You're weak old man, you let the pathetic sentiments of a weakling goddess dull your edge. Don't worry though because I intend to make sure you remember how much pleasure is to be found in delivering pain."
The older Vorrick slowly stands saying, "I may not be able to bind you again but I will never stop fighting you." The two launch into a heated grapple, each trying to force the other to the ground. The balance shifts back and forth, first one holding the upper hand then the other. The image fades as the younger once again overpowers the older.

Alaunavin collapses as soon as the vision faded, on her knees she looks up to Vorrick and could feel his pain. The battle with in him is strong and she assumes she understands. This is one thing he needs to win himself. But it had weaken her in the process. All that hate and blood that still stains his hands will not just vanish... That is something that will never be forgotten she thought as she looked into his eyes. She wanted to help though, some how. To be able to remove any uneasiness bout her for she was not there to harm him or Silke.
Alaunavin could not get up after that vision that he did share with her and did not understand why. Was it her parents past? Was it her heiratege? She did not know for she has always lived on the surface and only knew kindness and love, not hatred or killing in cold blood. She looks over to the body laying there. Never trusted the priestess always had a cold feeling when she looked to her. Alaunavin thought she deserved that in the end. A shocked expression was easily shown when she realized it. Alaunavin understood why he would think so on the females of her kind.
She tried to get up but fell back down, Alaunavin was getting worried she has never felt this from a vision before. To have her energy weaken made her wonder what she did in the process....
Dash came to her side and looked to Vorrick, he knew what she had done but she went too deep in the process. The wolves howled as Alaunavin lost consciousness.

As the link severed Vorrick fell to his knees. Glancing at his hands he could almost see the blood on them. Spitting he rose up in time to see Alaunavin fall. Whatever affect the vision had had on him it seemed she had been hit much harder. Gritting his teeth he stood and moved to stand over Alaunavin's unconcious body. Ignoring the big male wolf beside her Vorrick drew his sword. "These hands have killed many a helpless priestess, but not this one." Turning away Vorrick began scanning the trees for the hidden shooter.

The Ranger pulls the grey to a halt on a nearby ridgeline, his bow coming automatically to his hand. He had been at this a long time, though, and the howling is soon recognized for what it is. He had no great fondness for wolves, but he dealt with them often enough that they weren't scary for him anymore. He slides the bow back into the scabbard on his saddle, near a second quiver of black-shafted arrows.
"Ardetha...Shh...Whoa now...Just wolves, and a long way off. Come on now.." The Ranger spends a moment calming the spooked animal. She was a well-trained warhorse, but instinct about wolves ran deep. Still, the horse calmed with a dissatisfied snort and stamp of a rear hoof.
"Oh, shush you." The Ranger smiles softly to himself and holds out his left arm, looking away toward where the howling had originated in the valley below. A moment later he looks to his left to see a long, black batlike-thing settling on his arm, earning a broader smile for the returned pseudodragon.
"Well, Modi? What's out there? Anything interesting?" The dragon chirps a little, cocking it's head oddly at it's companion.
"Really? You don't seem pleased, Little One." The little serpent does it's best to scowl, hissing softly. It had seen something it didn't like, but apparently the Ranger thought otherwise about things.
He lets the Pseudodragon curl up around his neck, a scaly black scarf. "Well, like it or not, Modi, we're going to go see what's going on with the wolves. That was far too choral to be anything but mourning." The dragon chitters a mild scold to its friend, but doesn't fly off, content in it's warm spot as the Ranger turns the horse toward the valley below.

Dash laid close to his fallen friend. Giving orders to the rest of the pack from his position, he told a young scout to head up the path to the top of the valley. The scout was excited and headed toward the incline followed by a guard. Dash prayed the young pup would be well. He looked back to his friend and tried to connect with her spirit, he had a bad feeling she was fighting to stay with them. Only his sister could get connected but she is off helping the new comer's father. Dash started a chain of howls and the pack joined in one by one till the night sky was full of howling wolves.
Coming up the path where the injured man was, Lily smelt out the sents when she was stopped by two who were protecting the older man. Lily did not show no fear nor any attempt to harm as she places the note down in front of them and laid down wagging her tail to show no harm. Lily lifts her head to the howl, twitching her ears as she recieves the message, Alaunavin, she was unconscious. She got to her feet ready to run back but deep inside she knew her friend would want her to save this man. So she laid down once again till the man read the note and show her in. Waiting as he reads.....
While she was unconscious, Alaunavin, was in a battle keeping her self alive from this backfire she had recieved by this spell. This was not the first time this has happened. She was sure it would not be the final time. Alaunavin also knows this is a test of her wits. She could easily die if she loses this battle, but as long as she keeps her friends close she will not be fighting alone for her spirit and friends will help keep her alive. They just have to believe in her as she does them... most of all she thinks this was passed on to Vorrick as the spell was broken... as the battle continues with in herself.

Captain Andrea Maine watched as Major Neil Patwin knelt and retrieved the note laid down by the she-wolf. She scanned the woods and underbrush as far as she could see for any threats. She saw Maj. Patwin read the note wondering how he could do so as neither of them knew the local script. Andrea knew just enough Common to ask directs and to order food and drink once an inn was found. Patwin might have picked up some of the local languages before. He has made trips before through the Rabbit Hole, maybe he learned some even from Silke.
Patwin looked at the note it was written in the script that Silke taught him that the Elves and their kin used. It was a good thing he learned to read and write Elven and the Drow dialect of it from Silke otherwise he would have been lost trying to understand this message. He looked at the wolf, then at note again.
"So girl you are here to help Silke's father. I know that things work some what differently here than on Earth, but if you can help him, I thank you. I am Neil Patwin and the woman over there is Andrea Maine. The man lying there on that bedroll is Hans Friedrich Rahn, Silke Rahn's father. He was help prisoner by Silke's aunt Akordia Vrinn for the past several years. During those years her tortures wounded not only his body but his spirit and soul alike. I pray to the Great Spirit that you can if you are willing help Hans."
Neil slung his crossbow and led the she-wolf closer to the still form of Hans.
Back in the clearing where Silke first came upon Vorrick and Alaunavin she scouted for the one that shot the priestess of Eilistree, that woman may have been a fallen priestess or one of those inherited from the death of her brother, but she was still a priestess of the dark maiden. [i:2qf2zsv1]Death was not necessary, having her come back with me to learn the rites and sacrements of the Dark Maiden under the tutaledge of my mother would have be just, not killing her.[/i:2qf2zsv1]

Drow on the Surface face as many dangers as those in the Underdark. Just because the Rivvil is friendly does not mean he wishes to help you, he may just want to get you off guard before knifing you.

Lily understood well what these two legged were saying.. they thought she was just a wolf... but she wasn't. She had healing magic that was strong in her. Lily pads off closer to the hurt man... and there she stopped froze at the condition this man was in... No human could heal him for him to live. He was not well and this she could see, a whine escaped her as she looked to this man.
She needed a circle created by the ones standing near him. But did not know how to get these two legged to do what she needed them too. Lily thought as she looked to the injured spirit that lays infront of her as she ponders... she thought and came to try to talk to them... if they have any natural powers of telepathic abilites one will understand. "I need you to form a circle around him, one of you in the direction of east and the other in west, my companion in south and I in north." As she waited Lily got in the north position.
Mean while back where Alaunavin lays still fighting, Dash senses Lily's telepathic message and hopes she is alright as he guards... He growls to his pack to keep them alert for any more surprises. Watching his friend laying he can see she is starting to get a fever and he knew that this was not good. She is fighting for her life in the spirit world and he can't help other than guarding her with his life in the physical plane.

Patwin had always been attuned to the thoughts of the animals around him. Though this she-wolf was not one native to his plane of the material plane he sensed her message. He thought back. [i:3oqvr97b]Yes I understand. We need a circle with myself and Captain Maine at the east and west points of the compass and you and your companion at north and south.[/i:3oqvr97b]
"Captain would you help me position Silke's father head to toe on a north to south axis."
Andrea Maine had noticed that Major Patwin and the wolf had looked as if they were communicating with each other. Over the years she had know the Major she had seen him do some unique things. She had always wondered why he was able to get animals to do as he wished not she realized that he simply communicated with them.
"Yes, sir. Do you want the head or the feet?"
Patwin shook his head.
"No, you take his right side and I'll take his left. That way we can both craddle his head and we'll lock our arms under his knees."
With that said the two went to work positioning the battered Hans Rahn into position so that the circle that Lily had mentioned would be easier to make.
Silke decided that since casting about to search for the assailant of the priestess would prove to be fruitless. So she stood still in the midst of the trail. She let her senses receive all the clues the environment could tell her of the presense of the other stalker. [i:3oqvr97b]So my friend are you an assassin or another shadow dancer?[/i:3oqvr97b]

Modi hisses softly as the pair of wolves approach them. Baravar halts the horse less than 50 yards from the clearing where Vorrick and Alaunavin were. The Ranger doesn't pull any weapons as they wait for the wolves to arrive. They hadn't followed any paths, so it was likely that they'd already passed the wolves by, so they would wait for the wolves to double-back and catch up.
The Drow does make a quick check of his small crossbow. This one had been made on the surface, but it was still just as effective, with a similar sleeping toxin in the tips. He has no intention of harming the wolves, but that does not, necessarily, mean that the wolves don't think his horse looks tasty.
The Ranger is beginning to think that there's something more going on here than he had thought at first. Some parts of this didn't sit right.
