On hearing the wolf's howl Vorrick draws his sword searching for an enemy. Not seeing anything he begins carefully scanning the trees. [i:3b6bpwt2]I've been spending too much time with people I can trust[/i:3b6bpwt2] he thought [i:3b6bpwt2]I'm out of practice looking for the dagger in the dark[/i:3b6bpwt2]. Seeing the wolf forcing its fellows off and wagging its tail he figured it just found a rabbit or other source of food.

Turning to Alaunavin Vorrick says, "As well you shouldn't trust them, they are Drow afterall and only recently come to Eilistraee. I'm sure they will no doubt attempt to kill me but you should be fine."

Illorya finished tending her companion and then looked for Vorrick. [i:3b6bpwt2]He's with that wild woman that will complicate things. That fool is a traitor to her gender, who cares if we were torturing him he's only a male[/i:3b6bpwt2]

Illorya began casting a spell that would call down a column of flame to destroy both of them, and hopefully with their master dead the wolves woud simply leave. As she finished the spell she smiled though it was short lived. She knew she had not made a mistake but nothing happened. She tried a simpler spell and again nothing. As realization dawned on her she grabbed her sword and with a cry of equal anger and despair she charged towards the two.

Alaunavin took the warning of Vorrick with a nod as she hears the howl from Lily. She sees her wagging her tail... There is a stranger here and she had sensed it before all. Alaunavin smiled, there was no reason to fear since Lily was wagging her tail, she could just hear Dash growl at his sister for not being prepared ans she laughed... But there was danger in the air and it was not from the three who are noticed or the one hidden well with in the shadows...

Hearing the cry from one of the priestesses Alaunavin looked and took her bow and chanted an arrow as she pulled back on the strings. The arrow glowed blue and let it fly past Vorrick. Dash saw the signal and jumped into the path of the arrow, transforming him into a great wolf. Dash grew 10 times the strength, power, and speed. As he landed the earth quaked. His eyes focused on the priestess and growled as he waited for her to reach his friend, sister, and guardian.....

Lily went to sniff the meat when she saw the light from the arrow.. she cried out as she also transformed into a greater wolf. Lily said to the stranger "stay here where you are safe, my friend will protect you as so will I" and dashed to her brother side and bared her teeth at the witch who would attack her family... She howled loudly and soon the whole pack was there surrounding this priestess and protecting Alaunavin and Vorrick.

A few wolves stayed back to protect the two strangers with the best of their abilities....

"Well young lady it looks like your mistress is in danger," said Silke to the femal wolf as she stepped up and exited the shadow she had hidden in. She saw the two so-called priestesses of Eilistraee readying for some sort of spell, but the gestures and incantations were not the ones her mother used and seemed more sinsister than benevolent.

She began to quickly walk over to the Eilistraeean clerics and as she passed the darked haired drow female and the male she passed from view. It was as if she faded from reality, but she only used the skills she mastered over years to become unseen by those around her. Her weapons were again at the ready.

She did not appear again until the blade of her rapier rested across the throat of one cleric and that of the dagger the throat of the other.

"Now will someone please take the time to tell me why I had to divert myself in order to ensure the safety of my friends and father?" said Silke glaring with a look that could freeze blood at the older of the two Drow women. "I've shed too much blood on this journey, some of it necessisary, but the rest likely not."

Stopping her charge but otherwise ignoring the blade at her throat Illorya glares at Vorric baring her teeth in a wordless snarl. "VORRICK! What have you done to me, the Goddess no longer grants me magic. What trick have you cast to block me from Eilistraee."

Shifting her gaze to Silke and meeting her glare with one of her own she says, "This is not your affair and you are ignorant of the situation. Leave now and I will forget your intervention."

Vorrick grins and answers, "I have done nothing to you you spoiled brat. Torture, murder, and revenge are the ways of Lolth not Eilistraee. If the Goddess no longer grants you magic it is Her doing not mine."

"YOU LIE! Whatever it is you've done I challenge you. Face me in combat, your death will no doubt end your magic and return my connection to the Goddes." The crazed look in her eyes suggests she may charge forward even with the blade pressed against her skin.

Still grinning Vorrick says, "Stranger, lower your blade; Alaunavin, call off your wolves; if she wishes to face me I'm happy to oblige."

"Cleric, if your wish is to carry the Dark Maiden's favor again you might reconsider the path you have taken. I am a champion of the Lady of the Dance and my blades serve her will."

Silke looked to both of the clerics, the leader and the follower.

"Are you two of the original sect or of those inherited from the death of Eilistraee's brother?"

Silke let the edge of her sword and her dagger both relax some from the surface of the Drow women's skins.

"If of the former you should appologize to this male for treating him so. If of the later then I suggest you find an original priestess like my Matron Mother to teach you the proper manners of a priestess of the Maiden. The male is right you two behaved more like representives of the Spider Queen than of the Lady of the Dance. I know I have be long from Faerun, but I have not been long from the Lady. Even in the city I now live the Maiden is welcome and respected."

Then and only then did Silke lower blades and in the same instance she backed off, faded from view, then reappeared near the dark haired Drow female archer.

Listening to this new comer's words she smiled for she could not have had a better speech. Alaunavin looked and gave Vorrick a nod and said to her wolf friends..."Dash!, Lily! Brothers and sisters, COME!" The pack backed off but Lily did not. Still growling and her fur standing like she was ready to attack any moment. This was the first time she did not back down after her friend called come.

Lily did not look back but said to her beloved sister and friend of the wolf pack, "She tried to harm you, I see the crazed look in her spirit. She does not follow this Goddess like we look to you, Alaunavin." She continued to growl to the two priestesses.

Alaunavin has never heard any of her wolf friends say they thought her to be a Goddess till now... but she responded with, "Lily, your like a sister to me and I thank you for your comment, but if you do not listen to what I say and back off. Then you are no better then the priestesses are by not following their Goddess. I am no Goddess to begin with but be better than they are, and walk away for me as a friend and a sister."

Lily looked back to her sister and slowly backed up to her side and as she understood what her sister ment. She felt ashamed for not thinking. Alaunavin placed a loving hand over her as she hugged Lily.

Silke looked at the retreating Drow archer and her fellowship of wolves deciding whether to follow as well, go back to her small camp, or fade back into the shadows to keep an eye on things. In truth though she needs to get back to Earth, Topeka, and the life she now has there. These trips into the Realms seem never to be just to visit old friends, but always to handle some crisis or another.

Still though she has rescued her father, she still seems draw to stay in the Realms a bit longer. It as if the Dark Maiden wishes her to stay and help straighten things out among her children.

Turning to the raven haired Drow archer Silke spoke to catch her attention.

"Milady, may I impose upon you a favor? I am in need of a person skilled in the healing arts. Do you know of someone?"

"I am afraid I do not know a person.... but would a wolf do?" Unsure if Lily would for another being except another wolf, Alaunavin turned to Lily with a smile. "Lily here is well knowledge in healing magic. She is the only one I know of who can heal with out any plants or herbs. It is amazing to be a witness and watch the miracle. I am sure if you ask her yourself she will be willing, but I can not ask."

"I'm being rude. I'm Silke Rahn, Ranger, Rogue, Shadow Dancer in the service of the Dark Maiden, Soldier in the service of the Earth nation called the United States of America, and Scholar. As a Scholar I teach students at a university called Washburn about our world in a course I call Comparative Mythology."

Sheathing her rapier and dagger Silke looks around towards the Drow male.

"I've introduced myself so whom do I have the pleasure of meeting in this clearing under these circumstances?"

She waits for the others to answer.

Planting the point of his sword on the ground and leaning on it casually Vorrick says, "My name is Vorrick Marskaun, Warlock. Formerly of a merchant house in the Underdark I am now in service to Eilistraee if not always her priestesses."

Turning his attention to Illorya he says, "I would be more than happy to continue conversing with you however I must deal with this business first." Vorrick raises his sword into a guarding position he says to Illorya, "Well my dear, shall we dance?"

Abandoning any kind of form or strategy Illorya charges in taking big swings in an effort to kill Vorrick in a single blow. Moving gracefully Vorrick manages to dodge or parry most of his opponents sloppy attacks, but makes no attempt to counter with his own except for stricking the flat of his blades accross Illorya's shoulders causing her to stumble but never actually fall. Continuing her assault without pause the priestess gains a little more restraint; using more controlled strikes and feints.

With her focus regained Illorya manages to hit Vorrick a number of times though none fatal and realizing he can no longer treat this as a game Vorrick begins pressing his own attack. After a few failed attempts to strike the priestess Vorrick waits for her attack; parrying the blade downward to the ground and in a sharp movement strikes Illorya's chin with the pommel of his sword. Taking advantage of the priestesses momentary disorientation Vorrick flips the sword over in his hands and in an overhead thrust drives the sword into her shoulder, driving her to the ground.

Keeping his weight on his sword he draws his dagger from his boot and holds it menacingly infront of Illorya's face. Speaking so he can be heard clearly by everyone he says, "Now I wonder what I could do with this? I could slit open your belly and leave you lying here for the crows and other beasts to feed on. Or I could cut off your fingers and remove your tongue so you'd never be able to use magic again. Or I could slit your throat or stab you in the heart and grant you the quick death you denied me." Pausing for a moment to take in her look of terror Vorrick continues, "Or I could take my sword out of your shoulder and let you go."

With that Vorrick stands pulling his sword out as he does so. Pulling a cloth from his pocket he begins wiping the blood of his blade. Looking to the other priestess he says, "Do what you must for her, check on your other companions to see if they're alive and then leave. But know that if I ever lay eyes on any of you again I WILL kill you and I promise that it will be slow."

Sheathing his weapons he turns to look at Alaunavin and Silke grinning as if nothing had happened.

As she watches the battle between the priestess and Vorrick she introduces herself to Silke. "My name is Alaunavin Arabana. I am a loner for the past several months as for my master had past away. So I have stayed with the wolves and been a permanent part of the family." Lily and Dash come up to each side of Alaunavin and sit as if protecting her still. She smiled as she looked to the others.

"Alaunavin, I have walked the trails of this world before I strode the roads and highways of Earth and a dozen other worlds. I have seen many strange and unusual things. If Lily is willing, I would welcome her help. The wounded person in question is my father. He is a human from an Earth different from the one I now live on. He was taken as a slave when my mother's distant relatives attacked the town that was once our home on this world. My mother then was the Matron Mother of a surface dwelling branch of the House of Vrinn. She was also our chief priestess of Eilistraee. Since the rest of the House follows the Spider Queen, we are outcast even within our own house. Earth did not even offer much refuge for us. A cousin of mine and leader Matron Akordia Vrinn's secret police, Qulie Vrinn attacked me in a tavern I go to in the city I now live. She had two of her assassins try to kill me in a bar fight.

It was Qulie that told me that her mother had my father as one of her household slaves. She told us that when the Topeka Police Department questioned here, well at least she did until a public defense attorney showed up saying that he was her lawyer. Remember when you travel cross-time the other worlds have laws to live by too. In some of them ignorence of the law is not an excuse or so it is said.

Any way the Knight Commander of the Dark Sisterhood is now doing twenty-five to life in the Kansas State Womens Correctional Facility in Topeka. I think she will survive in there, if she doesn't get the gang members and other convicted women criminals upset at her. With her looks though I would not be supprised to find out Qulie Vrinn became some inmate's sweet heart. You have to admit those of us of elven blood have exotic looks and on some worlds the humans go for that.

Any way if Lily wants to help, my father is back down this game trail here to my right. I think that Vorrick can handle these Drow women just fine."

Silke wheels around to her right and heads down the trail she indicated.

"Vorrick, if you need assistance just yell!"

Lily looked to Dash her ears down as she heard bout this persons father. Dash growled to Lily and Alaunavin slapped him in the head, then she hugged him as she whispered in his hear "She has a gift brother, and obvious she wants to use her gift to help this woman as I would if I was her."

Dash looked from one to the other and he caved in, as usual, as he lays down his ears in defeat. "You guard her with your life Sister." He growled.

Alaunavin looked surprised, "Brother, do you really think I would allow anything to happen to any of you."

A pang of hurt he saw after the surprised look she gave to him, Dash just shook his head. "Lily, take your guards as well just for extra protection."

Lily nodded as the bunch of them headed down the path...

Hurrying to catch up Vorrick hangs a little back muttering to himself.

"You should have killed her."

"No!"

"You know she'll hunt you down again and she won't show the same mercy."

"It doesn't matter, I wasn't going to murder her."

"You've killed for less before."

"That was different, besides that's not who I am anymore."

"Now who are you trying to convince? At least kill the stranger and the wolf girl, they are a threat."

"They've done nothing, Alaunavin saved my life and the stranger has done nothin suspicious."

"They are Drow and female that is enough. Have you forgotten the mark on your neck? Have you forgotten how you suffered under them? Kill them now before they can do the same, it is the Drow way, it is [i:39cskd47]your[/i:39cskd47] way."

"SHUT UP!"

Realizing he may have spoken to loudly at the end he watches his companions for their reaction. Muttering to himself one more time he finishes, "I'm not who I once was, I wil not be a murderer

>>OOC: You decide whether or not you heard/how much. Despite the set up the only one speaking is Vorrick. Also the last all caps bit is a full blown shout.<<

Silke heard Vorrick's shout. She glanced back to see whom he directed that outburst toward, yet saw no one around.

"Vorrick is there a problem?"

Silke stopped took a small box with a little rod sticking out one end and spoke into part of it. Then she turned back to the trail and began to walk down it.

"Scout, this is Shadow, we have guests. How's dad, over?"

Silke still watched Vorrick and his behavior. [i:3jaizph3]He could be possessed or he his clinically schizophrenic, or as my niece and namesake, suffering from some sort of disassociative disorder,[/i:3jaizph3] she thought while walking towards the small camp her the Major and the Captain had made not long ago.

The box screeched static then a voice came from it.

"Shadow, this is Scout, the old man is badly injured from the abuse he received, a little fevorish, and has bad chills, over"

Silke looked to Vorrick and to Alaunavin, she made up her mind.

"I will help with what ever situation you need assistance with, I just need to find a safe place for my father to heal and rest up."

Temporarily Silke though she was betraying her mission, but as Silke thought it over it was clear that she needed to find someplace where her dad could mend so they could make the trip back to the portal near the Drow Temple. She was near the Temple, but Silke was not sure just how near.

"I will leave it up to my companions if they would help or not. This is not their world and beyond helping me rescue my father they have no stake here."
