Lilandra's bio
This is my first time making a Drow bio, so if I have anything wrong, just tell me and I will fix it. All input is wanted, and all comments(good or bad) will help me improve upon it ^^ Anyway, here it is.
~~~~~~~~
Lilandra N'vra
Age: 60(around 20 or so in Dark Elf years)
Skin hue: Dark blue(might change this)
Hair color: Pale silver
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Origins:
Born into the world above by a drow cleric of Eilistraee and a drow druid, both roads taught to her from an early age. In her short time, the amount of her own kind she has seen paled in comparison to the number of humans, due to her home's location outside of Skullport. Though sheltered from most prosecution and racism from the neighboring people, Lilandra has not failed to notice the slight fear twinkling in their quickly adverted eyes, or sneers when her back is turned.
At the early age of 24, she recieved training with a blade from her mother, mostly for the rituals to the Moon Maiden, much to the father's protest. Even though as druid he was allowed some steel items, he personally did not approve of the schmitar teachings, but instead turned the frustration into hope, hope that his daugther will at least learn something from his druidic teachings and mannerisms. Luckily, the pale haired drow learned to combine both, much to the approval of both her creators.
Combining druidism and cleric healing spells resulted in a fast mastery of recovery and an urge to help those wounded, and the added knowledge of alchemy(learned in her later years) opened up new branches in her favored field. Able to now swing a sword with some skill, summon roots to entangle, and pray to her favored patron for healing magic and other support, as well as a large and well-stocked belt around her waist, Lilandra went on a journey to discovery more about Eilistraee, nature, and drow in general.
The dark tunnels of the Underdark should of been the logical choice, but being born on the surface by "good" drow, the thought of seeing the stereotypical version of her people and dangers kept her away for many years. Instead, at the age of 40, Lilandra got the theory that finding other clerics of The Lady of Dance would improve her knowledge, as well as produce friends who could possibly show her a world she has never seen.
Although she donned white druidic robes, similar to the brown version her father wore, when she performed ceremonies to her goddess, the finely made cloth gathered up dirt a few feet away from her immediate area. It may not of been required to be nude for Eilistraee, but it was alot more convienent, and it was a habit picked up from her mother. She was infact not totally naked when bathing in the moonlight, a dangling necklace with a dagger on the end, and her own longsword accompanied her.
Hi there, Welcome.
Current edition allow some metal weapons.
[quote:1qwj56jw] Druids are proficient with the following weapons: club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear.[/quote:1qwj56jw]
So perhaps the couple could have comprised in mother teaching sword work with the scimitar.
Of course you do not hve to follow rules closely and can use older rules or your own interpertation. *Smiles*
I actually didn't know that ^^" My knowledge on druids expands only as far as an article about them on wizards.com. And how they are in World of Warcraft <.<
But if they can use a schmitar, that is awesome, so I will change it abit according to that.
I believe that clerics have staff, warhammer, mace, morning star, and flail. Slings too, I think. So, you can add those to your weapon proficiencies. Eilistraeen Clerics might be an exception, what with bastard swords being a symol of Eilistraee.[/color:2dq3j5xx]
That is what I was thinking. But that really isn't a bad idea. Thanks for your input!
Hi, I just checked the 3.5 Ed PHB. Clerics get simple weapon proficiency. If their Deities favoured weapon falls outside this realm, they must take the War domain to gain automatic weapon focus in that weapon. Since Eilistraee doesn't have War in her portfolio, I don't think clerics of Eilistraee can take that domain.
However, Clerics don't [i:d1103x2d]have[/i:d1103x2d] to use their Deity's favoured weapon. Most do as a matter of pride, not of necessity. You could take the weapon proficiency feat necessary to use a Bastard Sword (the maiden's favoured weapon) if you really wanted to, however.
Now, I'll stop hijacking your thread
QFT
And indeed Eilistraeens don't get weapon proficiency bastard sword for free; they need at least martial weapon proficiency.
QFT? I have seen if before as well. I used to know what it ment, but I kinda forgot <.<"
So in order to gain proficency in the weapon I got to do what again? I am still a n00b to DnD rules and what not, sadly. I know she doesn't have to use the sword, but yes, pride and wanting to honor her mother influence that choice
And I don't mind the hijacking
Basically saying "I quoted this text because I believe it to be true".
Ah the joys of acronyms.
@Shir'le. I was right for once? Wow!
@Shando. You'd need to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency, and have a base strength of 13 to use a Bastard Sword if you want to use it one-handed. To use it two-handed, you'd only need to take Martial Weapon Proficiency, I think. You CAN use weapons without being proficient in them, but you take a -4 penalty to attacks.
by the way, d20srd.org[/url:2uwemde2] is a good place to check out if you're unsure of something to with the base rules in 3.5 Ed D&D
A reminder, to play one does not have to follow every rule, just as long as the character build makes sense there is no problem.
A Durid/Cleric is a believable build.
The reason many Clerics multu-class as a Fighter is to get access to more weapons, including two handed use of the bastard sword. As already noted an exotic weapon feat (by the rules) needs to be taken to use that sword one handed.
Thanks one and all! Hmm...now I have to decide if I want to use it in one hand or two then, eh? Well I guess the bastard sword could be for ritual, but she uses a schmitar for battle? Until she becomes quite skilled, that is
But -4 to attacks isn't that bad, since I was just gonna use alot of spells. Better then having a wizard try to bash a goblin when he runs out of MP or something
