Another drow ascends from the depths into the moonlight...

I don't know if introductions are the norm here or not, but I thought that I'd give a bit of a hello to all the good folks here who share my love of the Dark Maiden. I don't play NWN (I don't even use windows anymore), and I seldom play D&D, usually preferring sci-fi to fantasy games. Still, a coworker of mine managed to get me interested in his game partly because I started learning about the Drow. I loved the whole dark, gothic feel of the Underdark and the drow, but I wanted to play a good drow, preferably without becoming one of the many Drizzt clones out there (he's ok, but it's been done to death I'm sure).

So in my online research of the dark ones I came across this lovely creature [img:1a2gh6h2]http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/mi200 ... straee.jpg[/img:1a2gh6h2], which led me to investigate Eilistraee. "Perfect!" I thought, for my character. Then I came here, and suddenly I had a much stronger sense of the goddess, as the whole website has wonderfully captured her "feel" as I see it.

Now I'm hooked on drow and Eilistraee both, and have a place to share that with others. Many thanks to Shir'le for the great work in putting the site together. I hope to have a good and long stay here. :)

Sci-fi, eh? Well, maybe then you'll find [url=http://www.eilistraee.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 5:3p1oupyi]this[/url:3p1oupyi] interesting (note, links back to old forums, so don't try to reply to that message). I'm not sure if Spelljammer qualifies as sci-fi though. ;)

And yes, that miniature is quite lovely; I'd still like to try and get a hold of one someday. Could pit her against that NWN2 troll I got in the CE box. :p

And welcome to the forums. May you find a home of sorts here.

Love -x-x-x-

I recommend turning to the Forgotten Realms books if you're looking for content on good drow and you're a big reader. What there is, I admit, is limited and tends to be disappointing because the bad drow seem to always win...(damn you, spider bitch!) but the content is still good.

Drizzt is a good start, though once you get past the Dark Elf Trilogy he loses some of his appeal because he's not struggling with that fact that he's 'not like' other people on the surface which is what I found so appealing about him when I was reading the trilogy.

Anyway, welcome, and I hope you like it here. We're all pretty nutty but we get along :D

What about books on Gromph's daughter? I think it is her anyways. Did she not have a few books?

Yes yes, Liriel.

Daughter of the Drow

Tangled Webs

Windwalker

I reccomend them all, though most people I know who've read them thought Liriel was just another heartless bitch after reading half of the first book. She's not like Drizzt who is born as a good guy, she evolves over time. Though I happen to like that about her.

[Shir'le EDIT] This post contains a spoiler for Windwalker.

Fyodor was the best thing that ever happened to her. I hope Liriel never attempts to resurrect him. i think he'd want her to move on. Anyway I really enjoyed her character. I also like that star elf girl. the one with the ghostly horse. i cant remember her name off hand. She's such a cute flirt lol

He's hardly a 'good' drow, though. Neutral, maybe.
