I just picked a copy of [i:3pi3ae81]Expedition to the Demonweb Pits [/i:3pi3ae81]a couple days ago, and it looks rather good upon first glance.

The one thing that I kinda don't like is the new Encounter Format."This format places all the combat-oriented sections into one or two-page presentations seperate from the main flow of the adventure plot, flavor, and area descriptions." I'm used to the old format where the monster(s) stats are on the same as the description of the area that they are found.

Not only does the campaign introduce new monsters like the abyssal giant and the oculus demon, but it gives the PCs a chance at fighting the aspects of a few demon lords. Plus, the PCs could possibly face two, I said [u:3pi3ae81]two[/u:3pi3ae81], aspects of Lolth![/color:3pi3ae81]

Uh oh. I may have to break my embargoe and head down to the gamestore to pick that up. And then try to convince my DM to let me bring Sancha's father out of retirement...

Oh my. SWEET!

There's no portal hopping and the adventure begins in Sigil, no in a forgotten Realms setting.

Sigil? Isn't that the place that the lady of pain lives?[/color:2iaonavd]

Okay, half the time I post something on here it's after 1:00am.... There [u:1v3e6g48]is[/u:1v3e6g48] some portal hopping.

Yes, Sigil is the domain of the Lady of Pain. There's an illustration of her on p.14. Chapter 2 gives a brief description of the city within 3 or 4 pages including Architecture, Laws & Society, and History.

Sigil is the domain of no one and nothing... Sigil is *taken care of* by the Lady of Pain...No God is allowed to enter the City of Portals.

Sigil sits on top of the Spire. Anything with in a rather large radious of it (such as a God) looses all God-like abilities...The Lady of Pain isn't a god...it's an Entity...

Also concerning the structures of Sigil...it's just one heap of stuff. Every building is a mix of a bunch of stuff brought from the other plains...

Arborea, Baator, Bytopia, eaven the Abyss and the Beastlands. Every creature from the multiverse walks through the town and the 12 factions and the LAdy of Pain keep an eye on it (well, maybe not the Anarhists and the Free League so much)

I thought many of the factions were destroyed after the Faction War....

Aye...the remaining 12 factions are all that's left...

The Free League is in danger of getting wiped out...Too many people like the "do what you want, were you want, how you want" idea...So the Free League are dying out...The Lady of Pain is killing them off because they over-populated.
