Well, a couple of years ago, I dressed as a Gothic fairy. Before that, I have used my costume from Scarborough Renaissance Faire a time or two. But my fave was one year when I dressed up as one of my D&D characters (a Moon elf fighter/wizard girl for a costume contest at my job- complete with silver hair and a wand, sword, and cloak)! Unfortunately, for some reason in spite of the pointed ears and SILVER hair, a lot of people thought I was supposed to be Xena. (Since WHEN does she look like an elf and run around in a sky blue cloak?!) And in high school, I once dressed as a vampire prostitute.... Yeah, I'm edgy like that, LOL!!!

I tend to ignore posting to religious holiday threads.
All Hollows Eve after all.

Aww, come on, Bhaern! It's a FUN holiday!!

And my personal favorite, I might add- he one day a year when I can be myself (a witch), and nobody thinks twice about it....

I have fond memories of going as Duke from GI Joe when I was 6... that was an unpleasant Halloween, there was a foot of snow on the ground already.
My Senior year in High School I went as Neo from the Matrix, I'm certain I have a pic of it somewhere on one of my old HDDs, if I can find it I'll post it.
Oh and Harry Dresden last year, complete with staff and single glove.

ah, such irony today. i wore my tye dye shirt, my moccasins and my peace sign and people commented on my 'costume'.
what? costume?
i wear tye dye all the time, my moccisins let me carry my boot knife plus very comfortable, and i happened to find my peace sign necklace again (funny, it was with my archery stuff)...

No kidding. I used to wear my pentacle every day until the little chain-loop broke, and the only time people ignored it was on Halloween. They thought it was just for show. The rest of the time, if anyone saw it, they would freak and call me a "devil-worshiper"! And heaven help me if someone saw it and asked what it was (it's in a Goddess-rose design)- Try explaining Wicca in an area dominated by Southern Baptists! Zarae, I totally understand.

costume, hmmm?
not my best, maybe most ridiculous. but i had a shirt with leopard spots, so i took a head band thing, cut out rounded ears from cushion like material, added cloth and colored spots on them, had spiked dog collar, and used a par of tan pants for a tail. then of course drew whiskers and colored my nose. i thought it was cool at the time
man, i was such a dork as a child!

Which is funny considering it means pretty much the exact opposite.
Took my neice trick or treating tonight, went as The Doctor from Doctor Who (David Tennant Style) and must've pulled it off well since several people figured it out.
