Post by Thalon Mercrow »

venduie ladys and gentle drow ;)

first allow me to appoligise for my long unexplained abesense. i have recently started collage,my grandma was hosplitlisesd, etc, etc and thats why i have been unable to post but i am back now and will return to my dutys as groundskeeper.

but now for my queary: my friend and DM is planing a mission to the underdark(and most likely a drow city) and being a faithful follower of eilistraee i need no other motivation to ventere in to a drow city then to save some souls, expreince the city and hone my skills, earn some coin, and sample some of the cusine and women 8)
now how would a follower of eilistraee go about converting others, sumgling them out of the city(or seting up a secret cult to the dark maiden if the chose to stay),throwing a wrench into the matrihacs plans, and just generely surviveing in the city(prefreably without exposing your identy so you can continue the proses again)

thanks! and i look forward to reconting with you all again

Well, in one of the books on drow for D&D 3.5 I've read of a powerful artifact called Lolth's egg. Don't remember how it works, but the poor bloke that activates it is sent to the Demonweb Pits instantly. It's a rarity and a powerful one to that. Say, someone takes it to the surface, where you find it. Getting to know how it works you decide to take it back to the Underdark, so that the matriarchs themselves get sucked to their precious Spider Bitch's plane. I suppose playing a drow from a different city, say, Ched Nasad, or Ust Natha (for all the BG2 fans) you can look around, playing an agent of the Matriarchs and looking for traitors of Lolth, something like an inquisitor, hunt down good drow, maybe find a hidden enclave of Eilsitraeetes, or Vhaeraunites, redeemable nontheless. Or, you look around the taverns and search for drow not content with how things are and look for sects. There's bound to be some Vhaeraunites in bigger cities or trade routes. Once a member of such, you find out about the enemies, Eilistraeetes for example and so on... I guess there's a great many possibilities.

The Dark Maiden is well known in the Underdark. There are agents in all major cities. This is a given and known fact. While we do not have all the details odds are that most followers born in city are those of the lower class, those that seek escape and Lolth's displeasure. In some ways treat this resistance much like a thieves guild or a Evil religion of the surface world. Bane temples, for example, are not widely promoted unless the city belongs to Bane as prime religion.

It is not a question that follwers are not in such city, it is just a question of how well they blend into the city. Some will be cauaght, others will stay hidden.

There also are the traders as the Drow engage in trade, this is another way that the message of hope will be communicated.
