Perseid Meteor Shower

For those of you who missed it, the Perseid meteor shower was at its height tonight. Forecasters predict you might still have a chance to see some meteorites into Thursday, but tonight was the night to catch the bulk of it.

Me, I only saw six...maybe seven in all after a total of three hours stargazing on and off between 11:00PM and 2:00AM PT. I'm happy with that, though. I'd never seen a meteor shower before so it was a real treat when I saw like three meteoroids streak the sky back to back. It was exhilarating and put me in a wonderful mood. I hope it did the same for those of you who were able to catch it.

Wonder on what latitudes you can see most of it?

Well I can't find the news article that told me about it originally, but information on it says it's usually best viewed by those in the northern hemisphere, if that helps?

The Northern hemisphere usually is the best region to view the event however there area better spots to be in as the erath passes through the debris cloud at thicker points. Therefore you might not see the best showers if you are in say Japan but if you're in Poland, a few hours later, the show is spectacular.

It's all a question of timing and relative points in space ;)
