Thanks my mind's beeing going in 900+ directions. I was just looking at faerun map and then the dragons of fae run, trying to find reasonable dragons that could have possibly mixed with his bloodline. The good news is that a portion of dragon activity is around Icewind Dale region so I can finagle that or come up with my own dragon and go on from there.

Dragon magazine had all sorts of cool obscure ones mentioned during their run.
I like the sound of the Tome dragons best.

If I can get my hands on the Dragon articles for it and the Monster Manual and the Draconomicon I should be able to find what I'm looking for. I'm actually "rewriting" again some parts of the story, namely zek's two sisters since the ones I had though they sound drow in origin I cannot find their meanings.
