Paizo and the pdf download hoax

Post by Argoth »

From Elaine Cunningham's newsletter...

As of midnight last night, Wizards of the Coast is no longer selling any of their materials in PDF format. If you have already purchased PDFs from Paizo Publisher or other online providers, you have until NOON TODAY, Pacific Standard Time, to download these materials before they disappear. If you already have legally purchased PDF materials, this is a good time to make a back-up copy.

There’s lots of information on the web about this, but if your online habits are anything like mine, you don’t spend a lot of time on message boards and gaming websites. I heard about it this morning, thanks to a customer service announcement from Paizo Publishers. If you know of gamers who are likely to affected by this policy change, please pass the word along.

Here’s the text of the email Paizo, FYI:

Wizards of the Coast has notified us that we may no longer sell or distribute their PDF products. Accordingly, after April 6 at 11:59 PM Pacific time, Wizards of the Coast PDFs will no longer be available for purchase on paizo.com; after noon on April 7, you will no longer be able to download Wizards of the Coast PDFs that you have already purchased, so please make sure you have downloaded all purchased PDFs by that time.

We thank you for your patronage of paizo.com. Please check out our other downloads at paizo.com/store/downloads.

Sincerely yours,
The Paizo Customer Service Team

Why does this act of pettiness by WoTC not surprise me?

I really hope that D&D 4th Ed. fails as a product for them so that they sell it to someone else who might actually give a crap about the game, the settings and the fans who love it.

Well that's just rediculous...
I'm upset on the behalf of others though it doesn't affect me personally. I was never able to either download nor buy any of these books legitimately. There's no market for it here.

No chance of getting them now, it seems. Less than none for me which is a logical fallacy but still depressing...
