Post by Talwyn Aureliano »

*ahem*

;) Argoth is going to have a fit when he hears this but anyhow....

This is a nice song by *cough* Abba *cough* [watches his manliness rating plummets considerably]

What do you all think?

Followers of Eilistraee seek out all variety of music, encouraging minstrels to play a song when they see one. So in that sense I would certainly say that it is appropriate as most any songs are.

As for being thematic for Eilistraee herself, that is in the end to all to decide for themselves. A goddess has many facets and is too large and varied for any one mortal to comprehend fully. Just as some take more to Eilistraee's darker, sad aspects, others take more to her happy and cheerful aspects.

For me, personally, the song lacks a certain amount of melancholy to be thematic to Eilistraee. Nothing against Abba as their music is quite nice, but in this case that is exactly the problem for me... their music is [i:2ibbg6sj]too[/i:2ibbg6sj] nice to fit Eilistraee and it belies a certain darker, more mysterious part of her.

Somehow I have trouble seeing a group of worshipers dancing to this song at night under a full moon. ;)

But I am certain that many a follower of Eilistraee would be quite happy to hear these Abba minstrels perform this song and it could certainly stir hopes and dreams inside them. :)

Well... Talwyn... Remember a thread about briefs vs. undies? You've mentioned something about heavy machinery back then... Well, making a long story short, you missed the truth by form Australia to Central Europe the long way around the planet ;)

Just a joke, I don't judge you.

This is something I would find more suitable.

[i:1cdhnc1u]A clouded dream on an earthly night
Hangs upon the crescent moon
A voiceless song in an ageless light
Sings at the coming dawn
Birds in flight are calling there
Where the heart moves the stones
There that my heart is longing for
All for the love of you

A painting hangs on an ivy wall
Nestled in the emerald moss
The eyes declare a truce of trust
Then it draws me far away
Where deep in the desert twilight
Sand melts in pools of the sky
Darkness lays her crimson cloak
Your lamps will call, call me home

And so it's there that my homage's due
Clutch-ed by the still of the night
Now I feel, feel you move
And every breath, breath is full
So it's there my homage's due
Clutch-ed by the still of the night
Even the distance feels so near
All for the love of you

A clouded dream on an earthly night
Hangs upon the crescent moon
A voiceless song in an ageless light
Sings at the coming dawn
Birds in flight are calling there
Where the heart moves the stones
There at my heart is longing for
All for the love of you[/i:1cdhnc1u][/size:1cdhnc1u]

[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X19dekhKsaU:1cdhnc1u]Kecharitomene- Loreena McKennitt[/url:1cdhnc1u] I can certainly see priestesses dancing to this at night, while the minstrels play.

[i:1cdhnc1u]The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home to you

On a dark new year's night
On the west coast of Clare
I heard your voice singing
Your eyes danced the song
Your hands played the tune
T'was a vision before me.

We left the music behind and the dance carried on
As we stole away to the seashore
We smelt the brine, felt the wind in our hair
And with sadness you paused.

Suddenly I knew that you'd have to go
Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so
Yet it was there I felt the crossroads of time
And I wondered why.

As we cast our gaze on the tumbling sea
A vision came o'er me
Of thundering hooves and beating wings
In clouds above.

As you turned to go I heard you call my name,
You were like a bird in a cage spreading it's wings to fly
"The old ways are lost," you sang as you flew
And I wondered why.

The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home to you

The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home to you

The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home to you[/i:1cdhnc1u][/size:1cdhnc1u]
" Hey Lil, what''''s going on in the world news today?"
" Some woman got whacked!"
"....Apparently, this is cause for celebration in Lil Land."

[furious applause from Talwyn for all the entries]

Well done Zzadrina and Argoth :D

Excellent choices.

I'll quietly bury the Abba song and as a way of rehabilitation, will listen to a diet of hard manly blues and rock 'n roll! Yeah!
