Time to Go to School

Postby NathreeDe'Shezbron » Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:02 am

Anyone is welcome to post in the thread, this is just a random idea I got while browsing the forum and seeing how there was nothing done in a desert.

The blazing sun beat down upon the white hood of the lone man, as he trudged through the heat and desolation of the Calim Desert. He seemed to be headed towards a small collection of huts and tents that contrasted sharply with the starkness of the desert, due to the signs of life being centered around an oasis. The lone man walked slowly, hunched over, and seemed to carry only a pair of extremely worn bags on his back, one slung over each shoulder, so as not too fall off. In his hand, he carried a nondescript iron staff. Occasionally a breath would ruffle the black colored piece of cloth that hung over his mouth, to keep the sand out of his lungs.
The man stopped by the door of the least run down hut, and assuming it was what passed as a center for this rinky dink town, and looking at the postings of caravans.
"I wish to sign up for this one." He said, pointing to a caravan that headed to Memnon. The depot head nodded, and handed over a piece of parchment, "Giv dat to de leader, lass spot dat was." The man nodded, and sweeping the note into his voluminous cloak, headed out of the door. He quickly found the caravan mentioned, and tossing the note to a guard, he went to sit in the back of a wagon. Before he even had time to fall asleep, the caravan started forward, and the jerk tossed him off the end of the wagon. Standing up, he dusted off the sand on his cloak, and out of the messy black hair. His bright green eyes narrowed, and lightly jogging, he caught up to the wagon, where he was met with the glowering eyes of the caravan leader, "Watch yoo step, boy, if yoo do't deliver, I'ma not be be paiin yoo."
With a nod, the man hopped into the front seat, and fell asleep. The caravan traveled for a good four days before reaching Memnon, and after collecting his payment, the man headed to a small tavern that was out of the way.
Tossing the proprietor a few pieces of platinum, a gross overpayment, but hardly important. He went to his room, and setting out a large gem, almost the size of his head, he sat cross legged on the floor, and sent his thoughts into the gem, and across Faerun, "Require assistance, great monetary reward, possibly long last artifacts. Come adventurers, come to Memnon, and claim thy prize."

((im gunna have this set before the story in Vale of Shadows for me. so i figured she's on a mission of sorts for her House. and on a side note, we are in the desert now in Vale, heading down the Black Road))

((i figured i'd start in Memnon))
her disguise was working well, tho it was clear she was not of the area. her black piwafwi was around her, the hood low over her sensitive eyes to proved relief from the glare. she had a mission, else should wouldnt in this miserable city. none paid her mind as she walked among the crowds of the metropolis. she wasnt sure where she was to go now. the message was to just wait. not too difficult...somewhat. the young drowess however was restless and patience she hadnt quite gotten yet. and add bordem to the mix. it was trouble for someone. the stall ahead caught her attention, or more the shiney objects that were just begging to be taken.

ELwyn's brooch of true seeing instantly picked her up out of the crowd of humans. A drow. In Memnon, of all places. He figured she must have gotten his message, or she was mad, one of the two. Either way, he could use her, if he could get over his distrust of the dark skinned race. Passing a finger over a ring on his finger, he activated its magic, an enchantment that would translate all the words he spoke into any language of his choice. "Welcome, Dark One who Does Not Belong," He called out to her, in fluent Undercommon, "Might you be lost, in this land of sun and heat? Or did you perhaps hear a call from your goddess?" He had to suppress a smile, for even though he wore his black cloth that covered his mouth and nose, one could never be too sure with a drow.

she heard the tongue, tho not often used, she recognized it. her own true seeing working, she turned to peek behind her. a smirk on her disguised face to the fact that she didnt belong. but any smart jest was quickly overshadowed by the mention of 'your goddess'. of all the things he could, to call her a spider-kisser!?!

crimson orbs narrowed and she spoke the words to the spell, her hands barely seen moving in the correct pattern. if it was spotted, then they would still be late. and a burning globe of fire rolled at him, rather speedily. and if he dodged it, then he did. she had a few more spells she had been itching to release. and if not, it was no worry to her and just another obstacle gone.
the crowds hurried to move out of the path of the fire. and the drowess vanished from sight with a quick invisibility spell. she knew he could still see her, but for the sake of the mission and that 'uncle' Jezz might not be too pleased if she let her fiery temper mess it up; she had to try to remain unnoticed.

moving thru the clearing crowd, she prepared another spell if he should retaliate, as well as calm her quick fuse before she blew cover more.

OOC: Oh goody a fight :D... havent had one of those in a while :D thnx, truly.

IC: Elwyn just barely registered the rolling ball of flame, instead keeping his eyes on the drow. Judging by her spell, she was a wizard or sorceress, he hardly cared. He let the fire get within half a dozen feet, and commanded his familiar to crush it. The small boulder on which he was leaning unfurled itself into the form of a heavily plated flesh golem. The creature's hand was as large as Elwyn's chest, and it slapped a palm onto the fire, its immunity to the flames protecting it from harm, but its movements were drastically slowed. Elwyn took that in with a scowl on his face, and standing up, was obviously smiling. "Good, good. I think you will do admirably. This is a good test of your abilities, and a chance to familiarize yourself with your enemies." He clapped his hands. Taking a step forward, towards the drowess, he tapped his chin. "Tell me, which creature do you most prefer to fight? I've heard mindflayers are feared in the Underdark." With his other hand, Elwyn reached behind his back, and pulling out a scroll, tossed it on the ground behind him. With a flick of his wrist, he called forth the puppet keyed to the scroll. An elf, wearing gleaming twin swords stepped forward, his dull eyes looking at his female opponent, his face a mask of fear and pain.

((im not too good at fight scenes, just a heads up))

the young drowess rolled her eyes to the rivvil (she's moving away from the scene by the way for the sake of her mission). she was defiantly gunna get a ear full from the Patrons when she got back, so be it. wouldnt be the first time, and definitely not the last.
she found if laughable he thought her from below. maybe it would be to her advantage. maybe he heard of Guallidurth or the drow raiders from long ago.
now it was a game to her. with cat like agility, she lept up onto the stall roof then the momentum bounced her to a building top. with a simple flick of her hands the fireball (the spell) was released.
"mayoe udos ilythiiri saph mina jal," she called back purposely in drow. she then was racing across the top laughing and leaping onto another building top casting a magical shield around her (i have Aladdin in mind apparently or something similar)

((Lol, this guy is mean to be a more socially awkward Aladin type guy))

Elwyn noticed the fireball just as the flames burst out of Gurguch's vlosed hand. He cursed silently under his breath, as the flames enveloped him. The puppet pursuing the drow halted in its steps, swords drawn, its eyes still staring at the drow. As the roaring inferno of the fireball passed by Elwyn, the drow could see an orb of iron where the young man stood. The puppet still remained motionless.

on the roof of the next building she looked back, the human's toys stopping pursuit. obviouly some trick. so with wicked smile, she sent a web at it. the crowds mostly scattering yet watching the specticle even some betting going on amongst some. (i dont know the city nor the people or how they are in general)
she 'saluted' the human then called out in her tongue, "belbaun phor jal'yur rivvil? nindel fridj wo naut xun t'yin."
then for the crowds, she dropped a very large globe of darkness on them then recast her invisibilty.

The webs wrapped around its limbs, immobilizing the creature. There was a soft hiss as the iron orb around Elwyn dissipated into a fine iron sand. "Oh, quite nicely done," He applauded her, "Very well done indeed, most people would have let their guard down." He chuckled, and with a flick of his finger, the joints on his puppet's limbs separated. Sharp blades flashed, and the web fell apart in tatters. The right hand flopped off its joint, and with a silent puff of air, a pair of arrows, dripping some liquid, bolted shot out towards the drow. Meanwhile, Elwyn hopped up onto the roof of a building adjacent to her's and cracked the knuckles on his hands. "Lets see how you handle THIS."
Another scroll appeared in his hands, and a cloud of thick smoke grew around Elwyn. For many moments, nothing happened. The smoke cleared, and Elwyn stood looking thoroughly perplexed, the scroll unfurled in his hand.

Inrii walking backwards watching the....whatever he was pull out a scroll. she had another offensive spell ready. his facial expressions didnt match what was expected. purple missiles shot from her hands and were aimed at the walking animated thing that escaped from the net. the end of the building, which she knew, but pretended not to, came up and she appeared to step of.
falling, she enacted her levitation before hitting. globes of darkness were left above her to cover her 'escape'. she entered one of the door in the alley. they noticed a door open but saw no one enter.
"go check it out," the woman said to the male.
he had grabbed a fire poker and walked slowly to the door. Inrii careful to keep from being bumped into inside the small dwelling.

((if u enter the housing, i have an idea assuming you dont just attack or do your action. speaking will still work))

Elwyn looked unconcernedly at where the drow vanished. A small smile creased his mouth, and then continued throughout his entire face, the skin cracking. Soon the light brown color began to flake off, giving rise to the much darker shade of black. Soon the whole of the face cracked off, and instead of Elwyn stood a drow male. He appeared to have no obvious weaponry, but he was a puppet after all. With a flick of his hand the drow puppet leapt off, following his living female counterpart. Through the eyes of his puppet, Elwyn just got the briefest of glimpses of a retreating foot, followed closely by a man with a poker. Sighing, Elwyn sent his puppet after the drow. His other puppet leapt up on to the roof of the building, joints splitting again, the points of arrow heads just visible, all drenched in some poison.
The man heard the slight whirl of the drow puppet's gear's, but by then it was too late. A slight prod, and the man felt the darkness descend upon his sensibilities. The poker fell from numbed fingers. Suddenly, the puppet on the roof unleashed a volley that blasted through the flimsy straw roof.

the woman freaked and started to scream, but an invisiable hand was over her mouth and a wavy dagger then below her chin. Inrii would test this, whatever he was. she could get an idea of what she was dealing with.
not sure if he spoke her language, she called out in undercommon, "what now rivvil? a false move and everyone in here better like fire"
she had a few other things up her sleave also. if this wouldnt work, then she just take out the henchmen nd all of them and just explain to 'Uncle' Jezz her own spin of the tale. besides, if he or Mayindia was testing her, then she better not fail now.

the woman unsure of what was being said noticed the dark tones of the voice, her eyes were wide but she dared not move.

The roof of the house creaked. In a moment, the eleven puppet blasted through, landing a couple paces behind Inrii. The drow puppet stepped past the threshold, the unconscious man falling from his grasp. Elwyn stepped out form behind him, and looked at the drow with a thoroughly amused expression on what could be seen of his face. He looked at the woman, his eyes showing no hint of compassion. He shrugged, "I hardly care what happens to her, you must realize this." He called out to the would-be kidnapper, in the drow tounge so as not to frighten the woman. "If you want, I can kill her myself, and make your life easier." He smiled, "No puppeteer will hesitate to kill, we play with the dead, after all."

it answered a couple questions at least. Inrii gave a wicked grin, pushed the woman twords the man, then released a very large wall of fire around herself, enough to catch the so called puppets in it as well. her piwafwi protecting her from the burn tho she still felt the heat, she dove thru the flames into a roll on the other side and coming back up to her feet. the house was catching fire rather quickly, as smoke was filling the room.
a look back to the creepy male, "t'yin l'tahh zhah pholor."

out the door she was. no longer did it matter that she stay conspicuous. it was too late. but she was gunna have some fun, create a little chaos for the metropolis. on top of another building in a few seconds. her hands went thru the correct potion as she whispered the arcane words.
ice rained down around her, something she bet this city never saw happen. a soft meniacle laugh escaped her, as people pointed up (while taking shelter to avoid the pelting of the ice storm) to the black cloaked woman who then vanished from visible sight.

((OOC: I hope its okay if I join in.))

Baravar and Illorya were exhausted. They'd managed to keep two of the six camels alive on the trek across the desert to Memnon. Illorya was certain that her teacher had chosen the long route to teach her about the desert itself. The Weaponmaster of House Banba was a wiley bastard that way. She had learned much about how to survive, even in a place as hostile as the Calim desert. But she didn't need to be happy about it.

Their black cloaks billow in the desert wind as they lead their bedraggled camels into the town. They don't appear as Drow, though that is not because of any magic. Baravar had never made any attempt at hiding himself behind magic. He was as he was, and if the world didn't like it, he didn't much care anymore. Beneath the outermost fold of his cloak there is a small, black shape, riding along on several of the Weaponmaster's belt pouches.

Both of them leave the broad scarves over their faces, not wanting to breathe any more of the dust than they had to. As they walk through the streets, as they reach the Bazaar, they see people pointing upward. Exhausted from travelling though they are, they look up, just in time to see a black-cloaked woman vanish, followed by the appearance of an ice storm.

Illorya and her camel race for shelter beneath a nearby cloth booth, but her companion remains where he is, a peculiar look on his face. Baravar, she knew, had seen a lot, but ice storms in the desert didn't usually bode well, Illorya knew.
I do not love the bright Sword for its sharpness,
nor the Arrow for its swiftness,
nor the Warrior for his glory.
I love only that which they defend."
