[ARENA] A dance lesson under the moon

Post by Iltzafein Elaug'dan »

A dark form walked through the night, slowly transversing it's way through the shrouded woods to a nearby glen. The figure walked silently until it reached the boundary of the glen, and knelt slowly beside the trunk of a beech tree and concentrated it's gaze onto the glen. Satisfied there was no in hiding in the tree line across the glen, the figure turned to scan behind and to the sides to ensure no one was attempting to sneak up behind it's back.

The crouching figure was a dark elf, a drow male who was waiting for someone at the glen. Iltzafein kept his eyes on the glen ahead but tuned his ears to take in everything around him. He checked his swords, a longsword and a shortsword strapped to his waist belt, to be make sure they were ready and loose. He had been told that he would be tested to determine how well his combat skills were. Nothing lethal, but intent and live blades would be used. Regardless, he would have worn his sturdy leather armor just to be safe, but Iltzafein had decided to go without. It would him to be more on his toes and rely on movement to avoid unwanted blows.

Iltzafein slowly turned his gaze around the glen ahead and the trees behind him just to make sure he wouldn't be caught off guard if his opponent decided to sneak up. Settling into a one-leg kneel beside the beech, the drow remained still, almost invisible in the shadows and waited to see if anyone would come. The moon then came out from behind the clouds and casted it's glowing rays to light the glen in a silvery white glow. Iltzafein blinked his eyes a few times to adjust to the sudden brightness, and smiled. Tonight would be a good night regardless of the engagement's outcome.

OOC: Basically I'm just testing the waters to see how my drow ranger handles himself in combat. He's right near the edge of the glen hiding in the shadows under the trees just to clarify. If anyone comes, then Iltzafein will reveal himself for a clean fight without sneaking around.
