[CAMPAIGN] The future of the Dark Maidens chosen

Post by Kirintha the Fair »

You arrive a the promenade Late one night wearing nothing but simple traveling clothes, unarmed for weapons may not be worn into the temple proper except when its under atack.

(OOC: this a D&D game focusing on a collection of novices in service to the dark maiden, from different small shrines, moonshards etc, who are being trained at the promenade so they will recieve the best of education. I'm only accepting 1st level PC's, and as this game focuses on novices, Im only accepting healers, Clerics, Favored souls, and bards who plan to multiclass as clerics.

I know thats extremely limiting but it helps preserve theme. For races I accept: aasimar, human, Drow, Sun elves, Moon elves, wood elves, wild elves, half elves.)

Side note... With all due respect to those who believe the dark maiden might accept male clerics , I do not share this view, thus I ask that all charachters be female.

OOC: I shall take a renegade high born drow who is a lvl 1 favoured soul. Her name in common, is Sweet Venom. That does not include a house name because she is a renegade/exile.

IC: Ssinjin Elg'cahl approached the address she had been given for her rendevous. She understood the necessity for this, even in Waterdeep, the haven of all and sundry, drow were still not accepted wholely by the populace, so publicly declaring a building to be owned by a drow or even to be used by drow was a risk they weren't willing to take. So portals to the Promenade had to be hidden and moved regularly between safe houses.

Stepping into the shadows in an alley she knocked at the back door of a large shuttered house. The door slid open slightly and she snuck in. Taking off her sword sheath she placed it on a rack to collect it later as weapons were not allowed in the temple proper. The priestess who was currently residing in the house took her into the basement and pushed a stone on the wall. The stones in an arch against the wall started to glow and a portal came into focus. Ssinjin stepped through and made her way to the temple where she'd been instructed to meet.

She's greeted by a halfling with 2 drow 5 humans and dwarf behind him, despite the fact that he is not an elf, and his short stature their is something to his presence that commands as much respect as many matron mothers.

"Greetings I am Arrikett Illum, welcome to the Temple of the promenade." he says "May I have your name and business before I escort you inside?"

She stood forward confidently. "Ssinjin Elg'cahl of the High Forest of Amn. Here for training as a Priestess." She drew out her silver holy symbol to lend credence to her story.

:nods after examining it: "you'll be escorted To Lady Qilue veladorn, immediatly"

Two drow males escort her in the paths winding.

Everyone, drow, human and halfling in the temple seems to seek the perfection of their tasks, be it food, song, or combat.

After a while shes brought before a drow woman with long silver hair, and silvery eyes, and the lithes beautous physique that tends to define drow female beauty.

"Greetings Ssinjin Elg'cahl. you are the first of the novices to arrive"

"during your stay here you'll be trained in divine magic, combat, ettiquite, planology, advanced theology and general magic" (OOC: Just because they explain these things too you DOESNT force you to allocate skill points that way)

:smiles comfortingly: "before your training formally begins I'd like to know a bit about your history, if I could?"

OOC: I am guessing a "Favored Soul" is one who recieved a vision from a goddess? If you don't approve of the character, I will edit my post, ok? I got a Lvl 1 Drow Favored, who is trained as a rogue, with some skill at dark magic. She does have some knowledge of the gods, but that is truely limited.

IC:

The, at least former, drow rogue, Shyn'ial, made her way through the familar tunnel leading to the temple, via directions from her sister. She was the one who spoke on her behalf when a human patrol caught her outside Waterdeep, not five miles away from where her family found a place they called "home".

Her mother always encouraged her skill for sword play, but not the bloodlust that followed. Instead of sparring with her for hours like she did with Lilandra, who was barely an infant at the time, the drow's mother had her pray to the goddess, hoping that the Dark Maiden's grace would cleanse the sneaky woman of her desires.

Oddly enough, it took her druid styled cleric sister's prayers to Eilistraee for the goddess to take notice. Ever since she left the jail, it seems that the maiden has been following Shyn'ial's footsteps, staying her hand when the weak with heavy purses past her in the streets leading to the temple she planned on visiting. Didn't matter, since her daggers were left at home. The convential ones anyway.

The temple now in sight, the brown cloak covering the curvious body clad in a leather set, this included a simple shirt, pants and sandals, two sizes too tight. The button was undone, the meal recently eaten making her pants uncomfortably tight, making her curse the damn tailor for his perverted tastes. Sure, the leather made her ass look damn great, but the side effects were not worth it!

A figure just walked into the temple when the rogue was making her way up the steps, the wooden door's handle not two paces away. Not bothering to re-open the rather heavy looking object, slipping past as the hinges creaked to a close.

The torches by the entrance reflected their light against her hair, it's silvery glow a great contraditcion to the orbs of endless shadow standing in place of the eyes that most drow are born with. The unnatural hue gave her just as many stares as the fleshy breasts threatening to release themselves from the outfit trying it's darndest to contain them.

Using a whistle to call over a priestess not looking all that busy, a smirk crossing her lips when the girl got the meaning and walked over.

"Good girl. Now lead me to wherever that drow before me went to, ok?"

OOC: The Favoured Soul is a class from the Miniatures handbook (and possibly somewhere else too) that is basicaly the divine version of a sorcerer. I shall post my character stats in the OOC forum.

IC: Ssinjin curtseys to Lady Veladorn. "Of course Lady Veladorn. I was born in Ust Natha to parents of good blood, and am favoured by the Dark Maiden, when I came of age they recognised my talents for the divine and sent me to the temple, but the priestesses grew angry when I grew dismissive of their disciplines. It seemed that my spark didn't originate from training, or, even more to their distaste and loathing, from their foul goddess. I fled the city with the help of a human male slave who fought off the guards while I escaped. I never knew his name, but I grieve that he must have suffered terribly for his actions." A tear rolls down her cheek. "He pressed this symbol of Our Lady into my hand before he bade me make my escape, I saw him captured as I fled and dragged to the temple. I had seen enough sacrifices during my training to know what would become of him there. I spent several days wandering the underdark before reaching the ruins of a surface elf temple that lead to the surface." She wipes away the tear and toys with her holy symbol. "They were suspicious at first, but eventually they took me in and sheltered me. They told me that it was the Lady Eilistraee whom the slave was a worshipper of, and I at once knew from where my powers sprang. They taught me as much as they could in their temple at Suldanesselar, but Lady Ellesime said that I should travel here to recieve instruction from my own kind. Both in race and religion, so here I am."

:nods: "an intriguing tale I will grant you a place here as novitiate" she says.

"I really must thank lady Ellesine"

:pauses: "you are... what is the term a favored soul, one who's divine magic comes from a more personal relationship with the gods rather then through prayer... tell me what spells can you work?"

OOC: Lvl 0 - Create Water, Guidance, Purify Food and Drink, Resistance. Lvl 1 - Cure Light Wounds, Divine Favour, Shield of Faith.

IC: Ssinjin pauses, thinking how best to describe her abilities that she had only recently come to understand. "As Orisons I can create water and make rotten and spoiled food as good as new. I can also improve a person's skill temporarily in a limited selection of ways or make them more hardy for a short time. My more powerful abilities seem to be mostly combat based, I can call down the Maiden's blessing on myself to increase my potential in a fight or alternatively shield myself within her care, I also have a limited ability to cure light wounds. I also have the advantage that I did not have to spend so long in prayer and meditation as my brethren in the temples of Ust Natha or Suldanesselar, my powers come from within."

:nods: "such a source of power is part of how the dark maidens faith survived, since it is created spontaneously"

:Pauses: "I take it you allready know the basics of how to use a sword?"

:pauses and then proceeds to ask: "My final question is this what is your ultimate goal? A sizable temple or moonshard under your command, to be one of my lieutenants, or what?" asks curiously.

OOC: She wields a bastard sword.

Ssinjin smiles wickedly. "Yes I know how to handle a blade. I wield a sword in emulation of our Lady's Moonsword and I do it well." She pauses however when Lady Veladorn poses her second question. "I haven't really given it much though except to hone my powers so that I might be as good as I can be. I suppose I should like to travel and seek to alter the general population's opinion of Eilistraeean Drow and try to convert some of our brethren below to our ways." Her smile fades now. "I would like to travel back to Ust Natha and free the slaves though, even if it means dying in the process I mean to achieve it."

"you will be taken to a set of chambers prepared for novices, take the night to settle in, and tommorow your instruction will begin."

:the room seems to be a communal chamber, but theirs no one else in it, clearly their planning on adding more soon.

OOC: I'm presuming that in true boading school style there are bunkbeds.

"Thankyou Lady Veladorn." Ssinjin says, curtseying again. She looks around her chambers, she had a habit of being earlyto places, come to think of it she tended to leave places early too. She sits down on one of the top bunks cross legged and meditates, waiting for something to happen.

(OOC: yes... sorry I should have specified that)

In a few hours you are wakened from your reverie by a knock on the door.

"Do you have any clothes suitable for the practice field? I'm to work with you in the practice chamber today." he says simply, not actualy coming in though.

OOC: I'm also presuming there are basic amenities in the room.

Ssinjin looks at her clothes, they are simple but good quality elven homespun travelling clothes and quite suitable for fighting in, they are also very figure hugging/enhancing. "Yes, I shall be out in a minute." She slips off the bed and walks over to the pitcher of water and splashes some in her face to freshen herself up.

She opens the door. "I am ready to start my training." She says in her most submissive and doeful voice, thinking that if he was going to train with her then she might as well let him think himself at an advantage. She looks the man up and down as he leads her down the corridor.
