Suru appeared beside Adain in a swirl of blue lights, her eyes were glued to him as they disapated.
" What is going on here Adain? where is Cinder? she asked. " i have been sencing some kind of danger around her. "

Veraka practically lit up when Iljrene gave him the task of spearheading the assualt; "by your command." He grabbed his helmet and sheathed himself in it, becoming once again, a huge colossus of platinum dragon-scaled armor.
With that said, the huge juggernaut of a paladin headed off, trailing the five Protectors headed for the east, casting [i:18lm6upy]Blessing of Bahamut[/i:18lm6upy] on himself, as well as a [i:18lm6upy]Death Ward[/i:18lm6upy] upon himself and each of the five Protectors. Veraka also was counting on his [i:18lm6upy]Aura of Courage[/i:18lm6upy] to help where it could. Finally he and the five reached the door as Iljrene instructed.

"Stand back," the aasimar told the Protectors, female or male, as he drew his greatsword Aphyon'arisa, Deaths' Stalker, from its scabbard on his back. The huge weapon, easily taller than any of the five Protectors, started to thrum gently at Veraka's grasp.
"I hope Iljrene is ready up top, cause I'm not waiting," Veraka growled, his eyes beginning to literally radiate silver light from under his helmet. He lurched forward, lunging into a full-out charge towards the door. In full sprint, the huge aasimar let loose an invigorating war-cry, very similar to the barbarians of the North. When he was about two strides away from the door, he swung his mighty greatsword down with all his strength, its thrumming blade arcing over his armored head. Upon contact, Aphyon'arisa's blade let loose a mighty blast of thunder, the resulting sonic energy shredding through the door like butter and splintering it to pieces. The sound would also deafen anyone on the immediate other side of the door.

Adian was about to reply when the aasimar's attack on the building blew the door in....blowing away whatever words he might have intended to say.

The explosion was fairly spectacular. Veraka could see two men in laborer's clothing on the floor, reeling from the entrance. Two other men also looked domewhat dazed by the loud, sudden attack. These men were armed and armored in chainmail. One managed to draw his weapon as he shook his head to re-orient himself.

Shouting came from inside as the armored Protectors of the Song invaded the building right after Veraka, spreading out fast and forming a half-circle facing the two armed men...and the door that stood in the wall between them.

"We're under at..." the recovering man shouted, but a Protector was on him in an instant, using the pommel of his sord to rap the man in the forehead.

Outside Adian made a move to follow but stopped, remembering his orders. He ground his teeth as he kept ab eye out.

"The residential areas are through here," Akor'ace said, leading the way through one of the twisting tunnels. "The city predated He-Who-Watches as well, and we have been working to restore as much of it as we can for our own use. At the moment we have more houses ready than we do people, but we expect to grow in the coming years. Guests such as yourself will be given shelter near the northern end."

She didn't need to mention that there was something of a buffer between the guest homes and the residents of the inhabitants of the Promenade for security's sake. She didn't really have to: The reasons were obvious.

"The work is a combination of human and dwarven construction, so it had to have been built during a period when there was a strong alliance between them," she explained. "We have a few dwarves with us now, and by extension a few of their stoneworkers ro help us with the repairs and reinforcement tasks."

Cinder tryed desperately to remain calm for the sake of her unborn children, she had never in her life felt so helpless, fear mounted inside of her
" Adain will find us " she insisted. " My grandmother will never let you get away with this, shewill find me. "
Tears rolled down her checks she could no longer contain herself. Her hands covered her face as as she sobbed, her breathing was beginning to falter.

The guards around her laughed openly.

"This is what dancing to a moon whore does to you," one said. "Makes you weaker than a child. Look at that. Have you ever seen a female in tears?"

"Only surfacers," another said. "Just before their hearts are cut out. And for quite awhile before too, actually."

More taunts followed, the dark elves sneering at their pathetic half-kin.

The aasimar, growling with his pent up frustration, moved through the half-circle of Protectors, released one hand from his greatsword, and grabbed one of the conscious armored men by the scruff of his mail and hoisted him up against the wall. Veraka's eyes were blazing silver, and his armor was glowing, especially around his crest of Bahamut.

The paladin then cast [i:30r7a0o7]Zone of Truth[/i:30r7a0o7] within the room. If any of the bastards lied, he would know, or more like he would know their [b:30r7a0o7]attempt[/b:30r7a0o7] to lie.
"I'm going to ask you this once, and you had better respond with a correct answer, got it?" To make sure the buffoon understood just what was at stake, the aasimar held his greatsword closer to the man, to which it responded by letting off a series of riveting vibrations, as well as beginning to glow with holy energy as it detected the man's malicious nature.

"Where was the pregnant drow female taken. She was brought into [b:30r7a0o7]this[/b:30r7a0o7] storehouse; where was she taken from here?!!" Acid seemed to drip from the aasimar's words as he spoke each of them, the venom in his tone very real.

Tossing the coin again, this time snatching it and putting with the rest, drow beamed with bright smile.
"Ah, good to see someone who knows! Let's go, male. No backing down in front of woman. We stand in the biggest temple and coin was tossed with good intention by skilled hand! There is no question that Maiden herself let the coin fall like that! Yeah, no problems![/color:6qpumv3c]"
Putting steps in confident pace, priestess grabbed young man and dragged him behind her to the gates out of the Promenade. "Hurry. I do not have much time! I must get the best present ever![/color:6qpumv3c]"
Celestial dogs followed from both sides with tongues flailing in the air.

The doress shrugged.

"There is always more," she said. "For example the temple is also a library, mostly of history and of songs for the Dark Maiden. And here there is a school for the learning of language and customs. As you have seen the Lady's faithful are more than just Ilythiiri. But if you wish, that may suffice for now. Would you like to select a residence to stay in for the duration of your stay with us?"

* * *

"Don't you say a word!" one of the formerly-amred men barked. "Not one word, mister!"

The vibrating greatsword and the rage of the paladin, however, was a much more pursuasive command.

"Th-there's a portal below," he stammered. "The mage....he knows how t-to get through. But..." His face broke into a strained smile, glad that he could twist a knife even with this self-rightious leg-breaker's grip. "...he's on the other side of it now. Without him you'll never open it."

* * *

G'eldfryn tried to look as though this was no worry at all. He had the courage of his brothers and sisters. He'd prove it.

But he was starting to wish he'd taken Zyzzat up on that apprenticeship...

Veraka was just about to let his rage do the rest of the work on the idiot in his grip, when he got an idea about the portal.

"Portals are just magical doorways, and doors can open from both sides. I'm willing to bet that one of you idiots has a way to communicate with this mage. After all, he wouldn't his operation to be ruined by a ordinary passing-person, so I'm willing to bet that one of you can contact him and ask him to open the portal. So, tell me, fool; which do you value more; your life, or this mage's?" Veraka growled his last words, letting his sword do the persuading for him.

"Open the doors! I was sent to get some provision! Urgent kitchen orders![/color:3kk0mkh6]"
Wardens on the walls sighed at familiar voice, signaling to raise the gates. Carefully looking at her entourage, they could only shake the heads and pass signals to send the word about acolyte exiting the holy grounds.
"Perfect.[/color:3kk0mkh6]" Whispering through her teeth, woman nodded and passed with widest festive face possible. Slowly moving in parade march walk, she took out bastard sword and saluted in direction of gates. They slammed shut as soon as last animal moved through.
Immediately after gaining distance, divine escort disappeared out of sight, unsummoned by command of invoker. Loud slams of feet were switched on accurate gait with almost no sound. Ebony palm opened backpack and unfurled black cape, which soon enveloped lithe figure, baggy clothes covering features of wearer.
"Careful here. We do not want to be heard or seen until we get to the city. So be a good shadow and move silently.[/color:3kk0mkh6]" Maid said as if she was not making the noise moments before.

ENOUGH! the drow across the table snapped at the guards.
" Calm yourself female your a priestess are you not " he walked over to Cinder and layed a hand on her shoulder whispering a calm emotions spell over her. His heart was warmed by his young surface grandaugter, he had not expected these feelings for her.
" Leave us now ! " he demanded.
The guards quickly departed from the room leaving them alone in the dimly lit lounge.

" I know were she is " Suru said entering the warehouse

"So that's the way you knights get your way, is it?" one of the armred men demanded before the hapless prisoner could answer. "You're no better than we are. Except maybe they breed you with hill giants."

As he said this, Iljrene and her men came into the room. They had four other men prisoner, one of whom was armored like the others. She stopped and watched, her expression stone.

* * *

[i:2hst4w01]Who do you think you're talking to?[/i:2hst4w01] G'eldfryn signed to her with a slightly insulted twist of his fingers.

He moved along with her, though he didn't have the benefit of a proper cloak. He managed to keep up just fine, keeping his eyes and ears open as he'd been trained.

"Just what are we risking our skins to get in Skullport of all places?" he wanted to know.

* * *

"You know..." Adian started to say, but Iljrene's command kept him from going in after Suru. Grinding his teeth he looked back at the streets.

"Uh, oh," he said as he ducked behind the nearest cover. Three rough-looking men were approaching the building. They didn't seem to notice the ruined door at first: They were concentrating on a coffin-sized crate they were moving.

* * *

"You have but to ask," Akor'ace said. She pointed to a smaller-sized building only a block away. "I believe that one will serve your needs. There will be a lunch served in about four hours from now. I shall see you then."
