the drowess could care less of inferior races. and a half breed wasnt much better (half drow right?).
even tho the ex-prietsess had technically been doing things that could be considered 'good', she still had that deeply seated pride and instilled mindset of just over 3 centuries living below. She's only forsake the Spider Queen a short time.

Her posture remained upright and proud, her amber eyes boring into whoever with a scowl that they should treat her with honor due her station. they did not need to know she was now a houseless rogue.

how they reacted would determine many things-
bluffing with fierce intimidation, "REPORT," she nearly growled to the leader of the other party in drowic (if they come up to us) keeping a hand on a hidden weapon.
her glance wandered to the captive trying to decide what to do with her in which ever way this would go. thats assuming she even survived, as pitiful as she looked.

(( is it obvious what [i:3hy96ac5]type [/i:3hy96ac5]of drow? how are they dressed? such as vhaeraunites or llothites? are they dressed as if surface drow or from below?
it may change some of what i wrote or response.))

The party stopped and kneeled, one male dragging the female down with him. Priestess, we captured this half breed on the surface, where she fleed after killing one of the priestess' down in Menzoberranzan. We were just escorting her back to Matron Baenre for punishment.[/color:3fcnhlxc] the leading drow said. He glanced towards Drithor for just a second, and then looked back at the ground. Drithor lowered his blades only slightly. Birdo, stay on alert. If they try anything, use your magic missiles.[/color:3fcnhlxc]
[i:3fcnhlxc]Why should I?[/i:3fcnhlxc] If you want to keep your feathers on, you will.[/color:3fcnhlxc] The large raven then landed on a nearby branch, startling the party slightly, but not enough for them to lose composure. Drithor stared at the half drow, then thought to Birdo again, Tell the female that we will not harm her, and we will help her.[/color:3fcnhlxc]

((I would assume that they are Lolthites, if only from the way they treat the girl, seeing as how half drow are among the followers of Vhaeraun, and Eilistraee would never permit her followers to do such a thing to anyone.))

((thats what i woulda guessed, but wanted to be sure))

Zilvtree bit her lip in thought for a second. every drow had to have heard of the most famous city, and most had some inclination of its first house.
trowing a leg over and gliding down to the ground with cat-like grace, she dusted off her clothing, then stood up straight. She hid the soreness of riding well, skilled in concealing and ignoring pain.
Stepping closer to the party, her eyes continued to bore into them, waiting for them to bow in respect for the female. Had she a snake headed whip, she'd crack it for effect.
"well done," she started (still bluffing of course), deciding to circle the captive. to keep up her facade, she stood behind the captive, and with her boot to the back, pushed her over.
"I want to have some fun with this halfbreed. however, I have another task," thinking quickly on the spur of the moment, "their is a traitor, a heritic on the loose,"
that should get their attention!
"they recently entered the tunnels north of here fleeing twords Charrvhel'raugaust," the drowess held a smirk on her face. that was her home city's enemy and the first one she thought of, "we are paying [i:2ecx0tka]triple [/i:2ecx0tka]the price for their heads."
she then listed 3 names and descriptions of 3 different houses, one a noble house and gave explicit permission to do whatever to the commoners. she spun enough possible truths to be very tantilizing and appealing to the group. and of course the so called reward was more than adequate.
Zilvtree wondered what the male would think now. how much would he believe?

((which would be very probable as she has revealed nothing of herself anyway.
sorry rainbow prisim. this was the most in-character way to get you free from them.))

Eyelids barely opened, heavy from the lack of sleep, to see what the group decided to do now. Instead, her elf-like ears caught the voice of drow speech, greetings to someone. Weakly raising her face up to see if it was another hallucination or echo of the past, black eyes stopped frozen, filling with dread at sight of another drow elf, woman. All fear of drow that was bottled up in her was unleashed, the shudder paralyzing her movements. Thrallawin could care less about the male that was near. Bird, which flew to the branch from his shoulder, was unnoticed completely. Looking like hypnotized at the female, the scars on grey skin under the rags throbbed with surge of pain. Eyes were staring, filling with tears, even though she was aware that the priestess will retaliate with something for such insolence. It could not be helped.
When raiders reported to their mistress, confusion was added to the horror creeping onto her. It was obvious lie. Nothing like that happened and that city was white spot on her map. She could not deny it nor it would help her at all. Trembling, half-blooded girl could not move as the drow woman moved closely, circling around her. Sudden push in the back was met without any strength to prevent it. Chains ringed, their weight not allowing to prevent the fall to the ground. The weak form was still contorting pathetically when quick fingers moved through the grass, partially on reflex, to find something that would help to work on the binds of magic collar and handcuffs. Something. Anything.

The male who dragged the captive to the woman, put his hands behind his back, taking proud stance and at the same time giving signal with drow handsign language to be on alert. The attentive leader noted strange circumstances few would take in account in encounter with yathrin. The low number was too odd for usual meeting. It meant something about the strength of the unit. But few details felt... odd.
The mounts of surfacers. Means trouble. Too loud for covert missions. Lack of the whip on the priestess was uncommon. Initiate? It did not add up in cold mind of the soldier.
Putting back the discomfort about this, he still asked politely on drow language, crossing his arms on the chest, partially to show no hidden weapons.
"We have orders to uphold from greater authority. What is the price you talk about trippling?"

Slowly backing into the deeper shadows, Drithor sheathed his weapons and drew his poisened stiletto from its hidden belt pocket. He could tell that things were about to get rough, and he wanted to be able to take them out with one slice. Birdo, prepare yourself for fight, and try not to hit one of us when it happens.[/color:392c1ltj]
He ruffled his feathers in understanding, but showed no other owtward signs of intellegence.

((ok. are yall both playing the same group or is this 2 different groups?))

coppery locks of hair were shook out of her face, amber eyes growing fiery. Zilvtree maintained her composure as well trained as she hadd been.
"you dare to speak to me as such [i:11u3kq8l]jabbuk[/i:11u3kq8l]?" her voice as commanding and fearsome as any matron and a threat implied to all the males. a slender adamantine baton came forth from her hand. the barbs slipped free of the head on thin adamantine chains becoming a scourge (flaying rod). a shadowy aura surrounded the wicked weapon. there was almost a dare to challenge her. If this didnt work, she decided this half breed wasnt worth the trouble.
and if they decided to fight, well then she would enjoy it.

the ex-priestess Dread Fang might have not had her spells available, but she had enough magical items and tricks.
mentally activating her house insignia, a large spider appeared beside her; to religious Llothite drow, it should have been a sign of Lloth and thus the drowess' authority- only she knew it was a simple and cheep way to keep up her facade (like unseen servant but slightly different. a large spider. her bluff and intimidate are very high.)
slightly changing tactics, her voice became melidious and sweet sounding, and dangerous, "accusations of heresy are dangerous....the [i:11u3kq8l]hint [/i:11u3kq8l]of even such is enough to skin you alive," the chains then were sent twirling but she did not move at them yet, "I [i:11u3kq8l]was [/i:11u3kq8l]feeling generous."

((Pretty sure we're talking bout the same group.))

Sneaking around to the back of the group, Drithor got behind one of the warriors, and then, putting his hand on the males mouth, slit his throat, then lowered him to the ground, all without makeing a sound. He knew that he should take out a few of them before Zilvtree prompted them to attack, but he was unsure which one to attack next. The rest all seemed to be paired up with another drow. He contemplated a Globe of Darkness, but that would block his sight as well as thiers, and alert the males that they were not here on orders from the Underdark. He then backed up, lifting the body and taking it with him. He waited for Zilvtree to make her next move, and signaled that Birdo do the same.

//Oh, I am very sorry about making action with NPCs. I just thought some things would be missed. Drow are zealots and all, but Baenre soldiers (or ruffians, who pretend to be them) would be very well trained and disciplined or experienced, not to forget the usual intelligence of drow. The exact nature of them will of course be up to the Darkros. Perhaps it could be special squad training rookies for long-term surface missions or independent slaver mercenaries. Dunno, whatever.

A bead of sweat rolled down from the white brow of the leader. The remark about his business at hand should have been said in different way. Now, he faced angered female with weapon ready to leave scars and darkness knows what else scourge was barbed with. Yet he talked. He feared retribution, but it was important to move on. Fast fluent undercommon followed:
"My apologies if my words were rash, jabress, but it is true. We had greater command of greater importance which we must uphold. My troops will not risk against the curse of mother matron herself."
The closest of the soldiers, whose equipment - long-sleeved boiled leather coat with certain metallic odor - looked much lighter than chainshirts and chainmails of fellow soldiers, came close to the commander with care.
"Jabbuk Raz'zeen? We have to talk."
"What is it? Can't you see that it is not time? How did you even dare to interrupt me in holy presence of the priestess of Dark Mother?!" the senior warrior snarled at the man. The warrior did not reply with any malice, pointing at the direction to the other side, where he was looking.
"I think you should see the forces that are about to attack from that side."
The moment officer was distracted to see what was about, with one swift movement of the hand a projectile flew out of the sleeve at the exposed neck of the male. Gurgling and spitting blood, the party leader fallen at the hands of the treacherous companion. No one moved a finger at this, as if seeing this happening long time ago. Crouching down at the convulsing corpse-to-be to retrieve sleek throwing dagger, the drow second in command smirked, twisting it before removing, making the body go still. Wiping it and putting knife back in place, the male smiled to the female.
"I am sorry for my master, he suddenly became incapable of good judgment. As new undisputed leader, I will do everything to help you... Though I really would like to know the price for such long detour."

Fingers of the girl were still scanning the earth, until they met sharp edge of something metal. Slowly, half-drow looked up to see a small rusty fragment of arrow head. Perhaps it was not too hopeless.

((I'm okay with that.))

Watching the exchange, Drithor wondered when they would notice their missing companion. He flicked the blood off of his blade and slid it back into it's pocket. Looking at the captive, he saw her staring at something in her hand, and noticed a rusty fragment of metal in her hand. All the guards were in front of her, allowing him to sneak up behind her. He lowered a hand carefully onto her shoulder, and prepared to place a hand over her mouth should she make any noise. Birdo, let Lady Shaiith know that should this come to violence, we should keep at least one of them alive.[/color:1hbckh0p] he thought at the same time.

((Zarae, put something in for Birdo tellin' you that, if you could?))

((just in case, she always speaks drow unless otherwise noted. so only switch to undercommon if other reasons. Zilv doesnt know common very well and i dont wanna have everything translated and that trouble))

She remained as she was, as the male fell dead; even let a fake smirk show up and a nod in congratulatory way. inside she was indifferent. Yet since her slight change, she almost felt a twinge of pity. pity becuase he was now in the Spider Queen's grasp.

controlling her thoughts, she continued her bluffing facade.
"and when my orders are from the great matron herself?" she replied roughly. the weapon still twirling but not moving closer. she hoped she indicated she was of the compound- not unbelievable as most any noble of any city knew how powerful that house was.
"I may have forgive this insolence as that has pleased me, for now."
She kept a weary eye on all, the slightest movement from any that would signal a strike. the bird's movements and Drithor's grabbing the half breed, she understood enough.
focused back on the new commander, she gave a seductive smile, brushed loose coppery strands behind a pointed ebon ear, and reached into a pouch with a small black sapphire, worth more than most any gem [i:20ogwvm8]in one of the cities below[/i:20ogwvm8]. its surface reflected the moonlight.
"[i:20ogwvm8]these [/i:20ogwvm8]are for finishing the job," indicating more than one and placing it back in her hidden pouch, "but I will give you part now."
a hand pulled out a pouch. inside were coins of Lith My'athar.
"they were caught trying to bribe our soldiers of the compound and thus you will be rewarded with their effects when caught."
she jingled it to prove their were coins.
"I would hurry, those heretics get further away. we know our Matron Baenre is not known for her forgiving nature nor her patience in these manors."

//I thought that switching to undercommon, more common and lower universal dialect of the Underdark, from drow language would be similar to apology and showing weakness in face of priestess. And another reason for raiders to think of changing the ruler.

Taking chip of metal, half-drow got it in between her fingers, watching the guards ahead of her attentively. Making sure that no one looks, nimble fingers put the shard behind the bands of her handcuffs. It was not good idea to try picking the lock now. Besides, using some piece of iron against magic collar would take a lot of time. And it won't be successful for sure.
Sudden touch to the shoulder gave violent trembling to her whole being and dried her throat. She completely forgot about sentry behind her. If he noticed the shard...
Closing her eyes, Thrallawin squirmed for whatever that was coming her way.

Taking the pouch, trained hand readily shifted the weight as the eyes peered inside.
"Consider our troops already victorious." He gave slight smirk, thinking about the triple amount of the coins. "Now that I think of it, as a guarantee of our services, we give you this perfect specimen you have seen. It seems it was a slave before, so there won't be much troubles disciplining her. I believe it will be a delight for Matron to know she will suffer for fifty years - or whatever the dirtblood live long - under your command. Now, let's..." Turning his head to the captive, his smile turned to the vile sneer as he saw Drithor near their prey. Many thoughts swirled in chaos of the drow mind, but it all came to one thing: he was taken for a fool.
"[i:34l81lca]Ulu da'rex! Dorakk thrityh meun![/i:34l81lca]" sharp command was issued to kneeling soldiers. Two of them, the fastest to react, with lighting-like reflexes drawn out their hand-crossbows and shot from the knee at the male warrior, little dart heads spinning with a whistle.

//I know group talks on drow, but it just sounds so cool. By the way, do you think we need OOC thread to talk about stuff like this?

((Thats a good idea. We do alot of it here, I'll start it after I finish this post. Same name as this one.))

Seeing the warriors start to lift their crossbows, Drithor grabbed his belt dagger and pulled it up. He knocked away one of the darts, but the other caught him in the shoulder. He was instantly paralyzed, but the dart's poison took longer than normal to knock him out.
Birdo! Attack![/color:1yrdn4ok] was his last thoought before he went under. The raven lept off of the branch and shot a mgic missle at one of the drow with a cross bow. He then swooped down at the other guy and raked the top of his head with his talons. Birdo then swooped up out of sight, sending a missle at the new leader.

((ah. ok. and replied on OOC... :p :D ))

near success, until they noticed Drithor's action. She almost wanted to kick him low (low blow) for ruining her swindle attempt.
but not one to back from a challange, she called out, fool!" and "idiot!"
the singular form used, as they would be unsure who it was directed at.

she watched as they aimed at Drithor, and she remained ready to strike but not acting just yet. the ring on her left hand was activated. thus anyone who struck her would inturn receive their own strike (excuriating ring). concealing another object as her weapon remained twirling, she held in preparing to toss it into the group- it would be fun to see how one of her brother's old toys would work here on the surface.

The two crossbowmen, fastest to react with their discipline to potential danger, reloaded their weapons with swift movement of the palm each, aiming their next shot for kill. The notion of finishing their job was past though as one of them noticed raw arcane energy incoming, which rarely was a good thing. Before he could do something about it, the purple shimmering meteors stroke him through his equipment, smoldering the skin to the bone in places of impact. Hearing the cry of pain of his comrade and rival, who he wanted to challenge once, second sniper turned quickly to see the hiding spellcaster. All he met was a wild animal charging at him in flight. Fighting off the raking swoop, drow wasted his shot on air. Determined to find the mage who let out his familiar at him, he started to scan the territory while reloading hand crossbow, oblivious to possibility of the bird being the one he was looking for. Yet, he could do nothing when at his side grenade exploded, blinding him and many other warriors.
The new leader of the party had to take care of the first task his position gave him: eliminate the enemies in sight. Sleeves of the coat introduced another trick in form of trident-like sai knife and katar punch-dagger. Closest to the priestess, he was first to notice the grenade and tumble out of it's range on the ground. Landing in crouch, out of harm's way, sudden blow of impact stroke in his back. Only one missile broke through the magical resistance, the rest bouncing off him to explode with violet flash on the ground like fireworks.
"Kill the caster! Kill the [b:2btkfnxy]blasted caster[/b:2btkfnxy]!" Roar erupted out of his throat. Rage was burning up from the treachery and spell hurting him. He turned to the woman, snarling and taking battle stance. "You..... The male was with [i:2btkfnxy]you[/i:2btkfnxy]..." All anger was visible on his distorted grimace as he moved slowly towards her.

Thrallawin was too scared of what was coming, and only after she heard cries of agony her last vestiges of bravery made her open the eyes. Amazement took her over when she saw the situation. Confusion in the party ahead. The body of drow lying on beside her. Noting the dart in his shoulder, she concluded that he was out of the fight. At least for now. He was not in league with her captors, so maybe she will think of what to do with him later. But not now. Rolling behind him to at least [i:2btkfnxy]somehow[/i:2btkfnxy] use his body as obstacle, her fingers started to move all over the chest and belt of the warrior in attempt to find any weapons she could use. Something. Anything.
Out of the quick survey, she noted short sword on the back, but it would take a lot of time just to dislodge it from between the male and ground. Half-blood was to exhausted to try this. Instead, she went for the necklace, which was identified as device she saw sometimes, even had chance to use once. Carefully unlocking the chain, the hands moved over the jewels, which were vibrating with sealed power. On touch, rogue could see that each could be easily dislodged on her wish without any prying out.
Taking out the most moderate of them, girl thrown it at the concentrated crowd with all strength she had. In the flight, the jewel shattered, turning into ball of fire, which exploded on touch with unfortunate target. Jets of fire risen with howls of victims caught in the blast.

Drithor's mind recovered from the poison of the dart long before his body did. He could feel someone running their hands along his body, but could stop them in no way. He felt the hands travel arond his neck to his necklace, and felt it being removed. A moment later, he felt the heat of one of the jewels exploding, and heard the screams of the drow, and began to worry, for he was unsure of whether Zilvtree was alright.
