Cave of Tremana

Post by Kindred Soul »

Though it was in the early morning hours, travel within the dead forest was difficult due to the grey mist. Earlier when he broke camp he was greeted with a clear blue sky that had elevated his spirits, only for it to be slowly broken down by the murkiness. Despite the scene, he smirked. The places his travels take him. He tottered from side to side in unison with his trustworthy horse, Aspire. The horse seemed to struggle walking, it appeared to have rained before greatly softening the ground.

Varien Marner sighed. He listened to his surroundings. There was not much to hear, except for the bizarre sounds that came from the deeper parts of the forest. He was an adventurer, but even the questionable darkness and its “occupants” made him question the worth of investigating. All the trees looked desolate and lacking foliage. Before breaking camp, his guide had given him a makeshift map, marking the variety of paths and his destination. He looked at the parchment, and halted his horse. A few paces before him was a landmark that as marked on the map, he seemed to be close.

Varien dismounted his horse, giving a quiet thud on the soft earth. Thankfully it was not immensely muddy from this point on. He was a sturdy looking individual, blessed with moderate looks, nothing incredible. He stood tall and erect at about 6’4”. Varien did however, have a curious and intense stare only reflecting his strength. His eyes were grey. He looked off into the distance, before checking his equipment, his fingers briefly touching the hilt of his sword. The sword was a brilliant piece, something he had acquired in his daring adventures.

[i:1xgsfo3z]“Well, it seems we are near the cave. Do you think the Beast of Tremana is a myth or perhaps a reality?”[/i:1xgsfo3z]

His voice was gentle, deep, but kind. Varien gave a quiet laugh as he tied up Aspire to a nearby stump.

[b:3ogbexjn]+She sat up perfectly straight, almost snooty, hands set in her lap, and legs crossed together. The lady was seated upon her black horse, sideways. Her head was tilted slightly downward, eyes closed. As if, ignoring everything, including her dismal surroundings. It was very evident on who and what she was. Large, ram-like horns curled about her head. It was not just one set of horns either, but multiple, curled up and over, down and behind.+

+This characteristic gave the most away. Her fingers were longer than most, but not too long or spidery. The way she dressed was very elaborate, and she ornamented her horns and hair equally, as if she was making up for something. Light tresses caressed and coddled her face. It was very long, and was the color of mauve, in unison very unusual and attractive. Shai’ira habitually stroked the forearm of her left hand, a tattoo of a serpent surrounded by intricate motifs, ran from her wrist, up, to just modestly before her elbow.+

+She smelled death, in the trees, in the dirt, and most definitely ahead. When she heard Varien’s descent, she cocked her brow slightly, turning her ear, intently listening to his every movement and gesture. Her long, lashes opened slowly, as she turned her head somewhat look at Varien. Her brow furrowed slightly in annoyance at his apparent intentions. Before he spoke, she knew what he was going to say. Her voice had a deeper, feminine hum to it, very authoritative and confident. +

[color=darkblue:3ogbexjn]“It seems we have come nearer to our destination. Does this require you to dismount your horse? I am assuming you wish to walk the rest of the path. Come now Varien, you must realize how much more of this trail we must go. Be logical. And as for the Beast of Tremana. Well, because of the rank in this air, I would not be surprised if it was....myth. Not enough death for me.”[/color:3ogbexjn]

+A quiet chuckle escaped her lips. Finally, she lifted her gaze, opening her eyes. They were captivating, yet ethereal. Her eyes were purely white, they almost seemed to glow. It was difficult to know exactly what her eyes rested upon. +[/b:3ogbexjn]

Leaning against a tree, clad in red and rich purple studded leather armor, stood a most curious elf. His armor consisted of a vest, leggings and a kilt, at his waist he wore a pair of elaborate rapiers and strapped to his back was a bagpipe. He was covered in bandoleers loaded down with daggers. His rich green eyes glimmered as brightly as his blood red hair.
" Top o' the mornin'!" He called out in a clear voice, "Would ya like some company in your ventures?"
Back home, we used to eat those things you call nightmares.
