Whispers in the wind

Post by Maia »

She brushed a hand through her long hair, the light colored bangs falling back into place around her face. Sighing she leaned back against the tree behind her. Her sword at her side sat in the soft grass, its blade shimmering slightly in the early afternoon sun. She herself was dressed in very casual garb. A white and silver shirt which was belted at the waist while the fabric fell down nearly to her knees. Under it she wore a pair of black pants with simular colored boots.

She wasn't even sure what she was doing out here but she had to get away from them. They where driving her crazy and quite frankly the attention was uncomfortable, as used to it as she should have been she just didn't want it. She'd had enough, so they could go on worshiping and praying now that she was gone. They would probibly hunt for her for awhile before giving up and just sticking to prayer.

However short of a diety poping up and ordering her to return she had no intention of returning to that place. In her opinion the only good thing they gave her was the shimmering blade which she now picked up out of the grass. Running her fingers down the inscription that ran along the center of the double edged blade, her eyes took on a far off look before she flipped it around and replaced it in its sheath.

She would move again soon, where she would move to? She didn't yet know but she would need to move. Go somewhere...do something. Find a path of her own, from there? She hoped purpose would form.

Sighing softly he reaches one hand upward, long, skilled fingers idly running through his thick long white hair. He had been on..well vacation was not the proper word. Not unless one considered getting called an idiot after eighteen hour days or grueling training a vacation. However, learning to do magic was never easy, and he could now feel the energies he had once only caught glimpses of flowing through his veins

Stopping as he enters the area his gaze moves to the figure sitting there, seemingly alone. Leaning back against a tree as if she did not have a care in the world. The hand leaves his hair one finger moving to idly tap at his lips as he observes her, Violet eyes taking in her profile, moving to the sheathed sword before back to her face once more

"Greeting my lady, Are you perhaps lost?" A single eyebrow raises as he moves in a bit closer, careful to not invade her personal space "Or just relaxing from a particularly stressful day?"[/color:3kpll9ke]

She moved her eyes over and across the features of the Drow that was now standing in front of her. Yes drow, from his apperance and carryings a magic weilder, he did not appear to hold any real weaponry. Of course that too could be misleading in this world only a fool took everything at face value.

"Hello" she said, her voice comming out a sweet chime. Very nearly delicate, much the way her lithe tender form looked to be.

"I am not lost no" she studied him, guaging weather she could trust him or not. Thinking what side his loyalties lay on. She knew drow didn't always strictly follow the code of cruelty and death, however a glace didnt give such information. That being said he did not seem to be on the offensive so she was just fine to stay as she was. She could react fast enough if need be.

"Ah, so you are simply relaxing, out enjoying the wind and sun as most would enjoy doing on a day such as today?" Moving his gaze about for a moment he slides forward taking a seat at a tree fairly close to her own location but not to close for her to be uncomfortable

"That is pretty much my plans for today as well, Sit back, relax enjoy the day" He leans back, head resting against the rough bark idly as he turns his attention back to her once more "I haven't seen you around here before, I admit to curiosity. I'd so love to interrogate you right now"

His violet gaze locks on hers, one eyebrow raising slowly "No torture or anything, and nothing to personal. Name, Where your from , what you do for fun, you know. Basic information" The brow lowers "In return, i shall give the same"[/color:5ftflivs]

She watched him for a time before nodding slowly, it seemed peculiar to her him sitting out in the sun with her. She was not used to being around people...no cancel that she was used to being around them, being their focus. She was not accustomed to talking with them, in a personal sense.

"Sounds fair enough" she said simply before twirling a dagger from her robes around her fingers idily. It wasnt a threatening gesture it was more one of boredom, of habbit and it showed.

"My name is Eve. I am from a village a few dozen miles north" she ignored his question about what she did for fun. He probibly would not understand that she wasn't 'allowed' to have fun, not really. She did of course when she could escape. The only difference was her escaped where normally temporary, this time she didnt intend on returning home.

Watches the two now by the tree staying upwind, so that the scent might not be detected. Drow of course always to be treated with caution, but watching the Drow using caution with the other bodes poorly for the clan. If the Drow uses cation, clearly the other should be given more caution. Lies in wait to hear the words spoken.

Laughing softly he reaches into his pocket, withdrawing a single gold coin which he slowly rotates between his fingers "Ah then well met Eve of some random village to the north who has no hobbies" He winks playfully "I am Merik, I am from somewhere in the underdark" His lips twist into a soft smirk "I enjoy studying magic, how it works, why it works, how it does the things it does and how to amplify the energies to achieve more subtle if interesting effects"

H flips the coin up, catching it idly before replacing it in his pouch "I often find myself...troubled i guess you could say. So many specialise in one thing, I admit i do as well, magic being my forte...however i don't know why one would only study a single branch. it is as if all you ever had in your life is apples, all you ever wanted is apples, and all you ever see is apples!" He chuckles softly

"Forgive me, but sometimes a man just wants a damn orange you know?"[/color:1n5whee0]

She watched him with a raised eyebrow for a moment before shaking her head. It was satisfying to know she was right about his venue however he was going off a little strange on her with the apples and oranges comparison. She got it of course it was just a little weird.

"I suppose. Most people like entertaining only one venue however, and it allows them to become superior in that one venue if that is all they have need to focus on. I suppose it really comes down to preferance and motivation."

Slow thudding footsteps mark Gurguch's presance. The huge flesh golem was hidden by an even larger cloak, covered in red scorpions, expertly sewn on a black fabric akin to silk. On his back was a bump, which, if one was paying particularly close attention, moved steadily, as if breathing. The ten foot tall creature kept plodding forward, until it spotted the white haired humanoid that looked like a drow. Gurguch shrugged his shoulders, and the hump on his shoulder jerked forward, and a skinny blonde head poked through the hood, and looked at cause of his disturbance. Elwyn sighed, and slid off down to stand on the ground. The green-eyed human stood just under Gurguch's shoulder, and was very wiry, compared to Gurguch's bulk. Despite his seeming frailty, he pulled out a gourd that was almost as tall as he was, and Elwyn strapped that securely on his own back, over an identical robe, that seemed to glint with strands of adamantine. He stretched, and walking towards the two, raised his hand in greeting, "Hail, I fear i am unfamiliar with the region, could you tell me the nearest landmarks, I fear my maps are woefully incomplete." He spoke with a southern accent, obviously from the desert.

Laughing softly he shrugs "Sure, they become experts in that one field. However, those who study other types can see what those who specialize miss. It makes them for more effective, far more skilled..and far more deadly" His eyes flash, the violet seeming to softly glow. For that moment she could clearly see the violence and death he could quite clearly deal simmering just beneath the surface. As quickly as it showed however it was gone, and his calm demenor was back

"So whats your specialty? Close and personal, Indirect and impersonal? Or perhaps like me you prefer refined and tasteful?'

His gaze then turns to the approach of the new comer his eyebrow raising once more at the noise levels and sheer size of the other "Landmarks? I am afraid i am new to this location myself so i am unsure of how helpful i can be. However you are welcome to sit, relax, watch the sky and enjoy the day. After all how often is there a day for nothing but relaxation?"[/color:3vb68kdf]

in the distant they were hunting, and no living predator was as deadly. there were six of them, man-shaped, but so lithe of form and graceful of movement that they seemed unreal, insubstantial. Slowly, stealthily, the shadows eased away from the sheltering darkness and crept into the clearing on silent feet. they were beautiful, with their glowing red eyes and skin so dark it seemed to swallow the moonlight. the only warning was the thin line of blood pouring from a smooth, clean cut, then they fell dead.
those left ran, as fast as they could, but their numbers dropped by the second. soon all that was left was two. with no where left to go, they stood their ground. blades exploded into motion with a dazzling display of swordsmanship. whirling elven blades crossed in a defensive parry, and the three swords met with a clash of metal and a spray of sparks. the keen elven steel slashed through sinew and bone and neatly severed the enemies arm. as he fell back two more took his place.
it was hopeless.
a cry of agony from her fallen ally, her last ally, alerted her it was time to flee, for the dead don't get revenge. She threw the knife and with deadly precision it buried deep into one forehead. seeing an opening she took her chance. with amazing agility she flipped over her enemies, landed softly and sprinted off. she had gain an advantage but that was to be short lived as they were quickly catching up.
an opening in the tree lined saved her, for the hunting party seem to slow as she entered. they stopped and cursed the flaming ball of fire. despite the brightness she ran, till exhaustion slowed her.
in the distance she saw the cliff edge. she couldnt stop. she ran and lept of the cliff, falling ever so gracefully. as she fell she saw an open meadow, and a small gathering of humanoids. one appeared as dark as her. just before she splayed on the rocks she activated her house insignia and enabled her levitation landing as light as a feather on the ground. her adrenalin pumping as a swift river, she sped twords the gathering.

Elwyn smiled, "True words those, for people of or profession," He nodded, "Truer words for those who have been exiled from their village." He extended his hand, "My name is Elwyn, I hail from the Calim Desert, the Red Sand Village, master puppeteer."

Gareth was sitting high up near the tree where the two people were standing, talking and laughing lightly, He was waiting for a certain group of stags that were expected to migrate though here, Until he heard cries of pain from what looked like a group of 6 in the distance, and sounds of bagpipes.

<These oafs will scare away the prey before i can hunt them, Buffoons! I might have to wait until next migration season until i can hunt these stags... Unless bagpipe tastes good, i might have to leave... But i must confront the idiots that scared away my targets...>

Gareth thought to himself, Waiting silently on the creaking branches for the culprits to near.
