The Dancing Woman's Tribe

Post by Nedylene Rahn »

OOC: This is an RP set mainly on Earth as an alternate story of how the Drow arrived on the Earth discribed in D20 Modern's Urban Arcana. The Drow of Earth no longer are of Shadow they are of their Earth. The story though will follow a band of Earth born, surface born Drow as they discover a portal that leads them back to Abeir-Toril and their ancestral homeworld.

A brief history:
Thirteen thousand or so years ago the Crown Wars were tiring the Elven Race down. Many of the other tribes of Elves were angered at the Ilythiiri Dark Elves and their ruthless and often violent tactics in the war. Some anger was directed at the Sun Elves of the Aryvandaari, but most was at the Ilythiiri. The anger at the Ayvandaari was over their destruction of the Dark Elven kingdom of Miyeritar and the diaspora of the Miyeritari Dark Elves.

This diaspora drove many, but not all Miyeritari into the arms of their brothers and sisters the Ilythiiri. In that camp many were corrupted and took up the Ilythiiri cause and religion. Many others though sought out refuge from the wars anywhere they could. Then the Descent of the Drow came.

Now all of the Ssi'Tel'Quessir or Dark Elves were changed to their present form by the spell regardless of their stance or actions during the Crown Wars. In the eyes of the Seldarine and the rest of the Tel'Quessir the whole of the tribe shared in the guilt with the Ilythiiri. Thus the wording of the spells used to change the Ssi'Tel'Quessir into the Drow affected the guilty and the not-guilty equally.

The ancestors of your Drow were searching for a way out of the now searing heat of Abeir-Toril's sun when they came across a portal. Taking all that they could carry on themselves and their pack animals this band of Miyeritari Drow escaped through the portal. The next thing they knew was that they stood on a hill over looking a flood plane on a bitterly cold mid-winter's night.

The land was in its own way beautiful and the small tribe of Miyeritari found a local tribe of brown toned Rivvin to befriend. Over time your ancestors lived and learned the ways of the people that became the Kansa. The descendants of these Miyeritari became known as the Dark Kansa and settled into the semi-nomadic lifestyle of their Rivvin brethren. They also adapted to living on the surface of their new home losing the sensitivity they were cursed with to the light of the sun. These Drow were followers of the Dark Maiden or Lady of the Dance, Eilistraee who they came to call The Dancing Woman.

Millennia and Centuries passed. The modern era came and now you and your friends strive to live in a world dominated by the culture of the descendants of the white Rivvin called Europeans. The America culture is your culture too, but like the black and brown men your people were not always treated fairly by the white rivvin. YOur people in the lifetimes of some of you have gone from being treated no different that any other Indian to beginning to enjoy the freedoms protected in the changes that came about via the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

One thing that did bother your people was that first a rivvin church had been built on the land that held the protal to Abeir-Toril and later the man that now owned the land bulldozed the church down to keep young rivvin from hurting themselves in the ruins of the old church. Now one of your friends has discovered the spell that would open the portal and one night you all gather on the hill overlooking the Stull, Kansas cemetary.

Qilue' not seeing anyone come through the portal took a cautious step through. Once through she looked back and saw the portal close. "Damn!" she exclaimed as the last view of her ancestral home faded away.

"Well I am here now, guess I ought to see what I can find."

Qilue' used to darkness of the family's rather extensive underground complex below their farm looked around to see if she could notice any threats with her dark vision. She kept her bow at the ready and unsnapped the strap that retained her blade in its sheath. Having spent twenty years in the Kansas Army National Guard the last six prior to retirement on tours in Iraq or Afghanistan she knew to be extremely cautious. She looked around each and every corner and behind ever outcropping of rock in the tunnels and caverns shes found herself in.

"Damn this is like some of those caves in the Hindu Kush," she quietly said to herself.
