"Yes Baravar," Nedylene gestured as she spoke, "Come sit with us and share our table. I am sure you would like to learn more about us and I know I would like to learn more about you."

Then Nedylene sat down next to Kaeli. She looked at Ulrike and smiled. The young knight of Lathander and commander of the Household Guard had recovered nicely from the assassination attempt all those years ago.

"Ulrike go up and let Delia come down and enjoy some time with us. Besides I think the children would like time with Aunt Ulrike."

Ulrike just nodded in reply to Nedy and bid her farewells. Then she went up to room Nedylene rented.

A cloaked and hooded figure glided into the tavern. None of the patrons seemed to notice his passage, despite one or two of them stepping aside to allow him to pass. He moved through the crowd easily, his slight frame letting him though where others would have been delayed by body or limb. His movements were slightly nervous, glancing about under his hood in search of...something.

His gaze fell upon the little group at the table and most of the tension went out of his stance. He walked towards thr group, but stopped a few steps away. There he waited quietly and respectfully to be noticed.

The tavern's patrons and servers, meanwhile continued to move about him without so much as a glance, or even recognition that he was there at all.

Nedylene noticed the new comer. She eyed him over. Then she motioned him forward.

"Dalninuk come here, have a seat with us, and tell us of yourself. I am Nedylene Rahn the Argent Maid of Lunar Temple and of House Rahn."

Nedylene indicated an empty space on the bench near her.

"Please have a seat next to me."

Nedylene noticed that Aly'Ffynn had left the common room. She also noticed that the tavern's patrons had turned their attentions away from the small group of Ilythiiri Elves. She welcomed the renewed anynimity. The best thing for the Surface Drow was for the locals to ignore them after awhile.

"Have some of the fare the tavern's cook laid out for us. Fill your tankard from this bottle of Lunar Drow Frost Wine. Be carefull it's pottent."

The newcomer bowed and took the offered seat with a relieved sigh. He was noticably smaller than most of the females present, the exception being the child. His face was covered with a scarf under the hood, and violet eyes glowed slightly.

"Your generosity is appriciated," he said. The voice was a soft tenor and quite young. It was unlikely that the speaker was much beyond late childhood, though it was clarly male. "I am Adian Novar, a retainer of Lady Qilue of the Promenade of the Dark Maiden. I was bid to extend greetings to you and yours, and to escort you wherever you wished to go."

He nodded to Kaeli in greeting.

"My services, slight as they are, are yours until you wish it otherwise," he said. "Ask and I shall obey."

She nodded at him as he sat, resting her elbows on the table and curling both hands together. She rested her chin against her hands and smiled softly, her eyes closing lazily.

"I thank you, sir. I do not believe we have met. I am known as Kaeli, and these are my group. We were sent to escort Miz Rahn here. We would gladly have you join us."

She leaned over a bit, pushing the bottle closer to him. "Drink up, friend."

"Thank you again," he said. He removed his gloves, revealing slender black hands, and poured himself a small glass of wine. He reached up to his scarf, hesitated for a moment, then pulled it free of his face.

Adian was indeed young, only barely into adulthood. His face was almost beautiful, with smooth lines and gentle angles. It was not a face one might have associated with extensive travel or experience. Yet he had to have crossed a respectable distance to have come from the Promenade under Waterdeep to this place.

He sipped the wine and closed his eyes, enjoying the flavor. A half a moment later the table was approached by the serving maid.

"Is there anything I can get for your guests?" she asked, stopping next to Adian.

Adian just stared at the woman for a moment, suddenly at a loss. He looked quickly to Kaeli, the "what do I do?" on his face louder than any spoken words.

Her eyes widen slightly as the maid speaks to Adian, noting that she seemed to know him well. She looks back at him, and, upon catching his uncertain gaze, shrugs and looks at Nedylene.

"I'm fine, but Miz Rahn may want something."

She looks back at the maid and smiles, slowly resting her head against her arms on the table, her eyelids drfiting to a near close. She stares out Nedylene and Adian, waiting for Nedylene's response.

Nedylene looked at the serving maid. She did not need a refill of her wine. She did need some more of the mead that the tavern of the Inn served. It had been a long time since she had a decent honey mead.

"I would like another pitcher of mead brought to the table miss."

Then Nedylene turned her attention back to Adian. She decided that having a representative of the Promenade in Skullport was a good thing. She wanted to meet Qilue' as she was the closest person that the followers of Eilistraee had to a primate for this world. Her mother once talked of meeting Qilue' so the high priestess of the Promenade was at least of Nedylene's grandmother's generation. Nedylene knew many Ilythiiri like other elves had figured out ways to extend their natural life through magic or other means.

Nedylene had learned that just by keeping herself physically fit she would extend her life much beyond the 350 years most Ilythiiri live too. Nedylene had another helping hand. Back at Lunar Temple her first consort Calia Tyne had a means to return to her birth world.

From that world Calia returned with an Ilythiiri physician. On Calia's homeworld there was a whole branch of medicine dedicated to the health and wellfare of the Ilythiiri. This particular physician was still back a the Temple as she was the only Doctor that the Ilythiir of Elben Aator had. Doctor Akordia Tyne it seems was a cousin to Calia. The surprizing thing about the woman was that she was becoming a skilled priestess of Eilistraee too. Between Calia Tyne and Akordia Tyne the Temple was in good hands. Thus Nedylene was not worried about the health and safety of Lunar Temple.

"Adian I would like to meet with Qilue' especially to let her know what I have learned of members of our race not of this world. It seems that the Lolthites are not the only ones to be found on other worlds of the material plane."

"I shall be happy to escort you there," Adian said, breaking into a relieved smile. "My Lady expressed hope that you would visit for a time. Once we get into Waterdeep, it will be a simple matter to ride the moonlight to the Promenade."

There was a great deal of pride in his voice as he spoke of Lady Qilue', and he sat a little straighter in his chair.

"My possessions have been stored nearby," he added. "Any time you wish to go, I shall be ready. Do you expect to remain in Baldur's Gate long?"

"We were planning on spending the night here, but I do not think anything pressing holds us here."

She glanced at Nedylene, one eyebrow raised as if in wait for confirmation. She looked back at Adian thoughtfully, wondering what it would be like - serving under Lady Qilue. Ever since she had begun her worship of the Dark Maiden, she had always hoped that she would be able to meet Qilue Veladorn ... and now the chance was presenting itself.

"It should be fun." she said softly, more to herself than anyone.

"I think we can make a trip to Skullport and the Promenade."

Nedylene looked up to notice that Delia Addams-Rahn her adoptive daughter had come up to their table.

"Sit Delia, our new friend Adian is an Emassary from Qilue' Veladorn. We have been invited to meet with her at the Promenade, our holiest of places on off Abeir-Toril. Well the most holy that still stands."

Nedylene remembered the Family Vrinn's history as it had been passed down to her. Her family had served the Dark Maiden from the time before the Crown Wars. That war split the Family, but the Eilistraeean members of the House survived or so the legends told.

"We will stay the night here and leave in the morning. If you are not still sensitive to the daylight it may be best to travel then. Even so those of you that are not Surface Born or Daylight Adapted had best where clothing that covers your skin and hats or hoods that shade your eyes."

Delia nodded in agreement with her mother. Delia then looked at the others. She formed her thoughts then spoke.

"The half-Ilythiir among us are mostly surface born so we can handle the daylight just fine."

Nedylene smiled at her daughter not of her blood.

"Ok then shall we get a good night's sleep after we sup and enjoy the Tavern's entertainment. Then in the morning we will try to make the road before sunrise. Along the way we will camp at our shrines and colonies where we can."

Adian smiled kindly as the little girl arrived, bowing his head to her in greeting.

At the mention of "shrines and colonies", Adian perked up, sitting up a bit straighter in his seat and inflating his chest slightly.

"That is how I arrived here," he said proudly. "I can show them to you. There is, alas, only one colony on the direct route to Waterdeep, [i:2y2dpu0q]Darthiphor Sunduin[/i:2y2dpu0q], a glade most carefully hidden. There are also three shrines where we can take shelter and leave offerings to be given to the needy.

"The trip is hazardous," he warned. "Fortunately I am equipped and trained enough to offer some small measure of protection. I swear upon my life that you and yours will all see the Promenade, and that Lady Qilue' Veladorn shall see you before her safe and unharmed."

He glanced at her escorts then, looking a bit abashed.

"Meaning no disrespect to those of you also charged with her safety," he said quickly. "Please allow me to add my sword to yours."

She grinned at him, turning to glance back at the rest of her companions and laughed, "I think we've room for a friend."

She sat up in her chair and leaned back slightly, resting her back against the hard wood. "Besides," she added thoughtfully, "the road's more fun with company."

Kaeli grins and laughs, "I'm sure we won't."

She pulls the wine towards herself, pouring it into a cup and leans back again, sipping at the wine slightly drowsily.
