The nymaru and the illithyri...

When you want to ask out of character questions, discuss plots, talk about roleplaying or simply present your character’s bio, this is the place to do so. Small OOC bits may be accepted in the roleplaying forums, but this is the place for the larger posts. Do keep the topics related to the roleplaying however, otherwise go to the General Discussion forum.

The nymaru and the illithyri...

Post by Nedylene »

Nymaru
Description: tall, white humanoid, males are usually 7'5, females a little shorter. They have claws on their hands that can do a d3 + strength damage. Their feet are arched much higher than normal humanoids giving them a +5 on the balance skill. They have large white, leathery wings, similiar to a dragons, that spread close to 18 feet. They possess a pair of spiraled horns on their brow, that grow longer as they age, these possess a slight healing quality in older nymaru( 8th level they gain cure light wounds with them).
For racial stats, they gain a +2 on strength and charisma and a -1 on their dex. At 8th level they gain a natural spell resistance of 5 +1 per level, and they are able to ignore 1st level spells.
All classes are open to them, but keep in mind the dex penalty.Their alignment is usually chaotic good.

Illithyri
These are based loosely on some things I have read about the drow, but altered greatly. They look like tall drow ( males around 7 feet, females a little shorter) with black dragon like wings, reaching around 17 feet. They have white hair and their eye color range is the same as the drow ( lavender, pink, red) . They possess the same darkvision as a drow, however in the dark there eyes glow red.Their horns are black and grow longer as they age. The males are in possession of a pair of elbow spikes that do poison damage, they grow these around 300 years of age, however.
They have a long , barbed tail that can inflict a d6 worth of damage without the poison, ranks in weapon proficiency tail swipe is necessary to keep from having a penalty. Poison damage in male illithyri is ( starting at 5th level) 30 points plus 5 every other level. Also starting at 5th is their poison resistance of 5 +1 every other level.
The poison in the females however is a sedative one. On medium to large humanoids the fortitude save is 20 to keep from becoming unconscious, on small or tiny humanoids, the fortitude is 25 to keep from dying outright. They too have the claws and arched feet ( same damage and skill bonus as the nymaru)
Their racial bonuses are a +1 to strength and a -1 to charisma.
Their alignment is usally chaotic neutral.
Both races age akin to a dragon, and gain the gift of flight in their late teens.
Any other questions just ask me...keep in mind.. I made this stuff up..which means please dont write a book on it, but at the same time, feel free to use it and alter it were you will.

I'll play an Illithyri, but the fact that they're usually CN doesn't mean they all HAVE to be CN, could there be an exception and find an Illithyri that's any other alignment?

Of course not, some are chaotic good, those that live with the nymaru on the island, and some that live with the drow or in secret in the deep underdark are evil.
