Whats a typical eilistraeean temple look like?

Since the Chosen of Eilistraee is a religious oriented player group, naturally there is a place to have theological discussions. That is in-game religions; please leave real-world religion out of it. Debate the fine points of a certain dogma, how a church can enforce worship while staying true to its tenets or simply why one deity is better than another one is. All are free to talk about it here.

The minimun is a grove (cleared wooded area of underbrush) with a clearing in foliage open to the sky to admit moonlight.

Typical would include a near by tunnel to provide protection forn the sun diring day time.

Often a forge is present and tunnel leads to ores.

In short a temple is pretty much anypace one can dance in the moonlight. There are no requirements for trappings. Not that comfortable settings can be decorated with statues, buildings built up around it and so on.

This is from Faiths and Pantheons[/url:3cuby8ds]:

[quote:3cuby8ds]Temples of the Dark Maiden are typically established in the mouths of dark caverns and in dim forests on the surface world from which her clerics can venture forth at night to brave the moonlight. It is rare for clergy of Eilistraee to found a temple below the surface. The Dark Maiden's clergy seek out pristine, natural sites that need little modification. These places of worship are developed much like those dedicated to the Seldarine. Temple complexes typically include a glade in which to dance, offering an unobstructed view of the moon, and a sheltered place away from the light of day (often an access tunnel to the Underdark). Other common features are a thick tree canopy, a lively freshwater stream, a forge and smithy, and a vein of iron or some other metal suitable for the crafting of swords. However, the simplest shrine of the Dark Maiden requires naught but a moonlit glade and a song (audible or imagined) that draws one into a dance.[/quote:3cuby8ds]

And the following is from Demihuman Deities[/url:3cuby8ds]:

It is rare for clergy of Eilistraee to found a temple below the surface, even one so close to the world above as the Promenade (see below). Eilistraee's places of worship are chosen and developed in a manner similar to those of the surface elves dedicated to the Seldarine. The Dark Maiden's clergy seek out pristine, natural sites that need little modification. Temple complexes typically include a glade in which to dance and from which the view of the moon is unobstructed, a dark place removed from the light of day, a thick tree canopy, a lively fresh water stream that playfully dances and sings, a forge and smithy for Grafting swords, an access tunnel to the Underdark, and a vein of iron or some other metal suitable for the Crafting of swords. However, the simplest shrine of the Dark Maiden requires naught but a moonlit glade and a song (audible or imagined) that draws one into a dance.[/quote:3cuby8ds]
(Methinks somebody copied the text from one into the other near verbatim. :p )

Then we have a detailed description of The Promenade of The Dark Maiden in one of the old Dragon magazines, though seeing as The Promenade is kinda the odd one out I’m not sure how useful that is. And that’s really all we know.

The thing is that Eilistraeens temples are rather rare to begin with. Only three have ever even been referenced as far as I’m aware (The Promenade, The Mouth of Song and The Shadowtop Glade). And of those three only one is described in any detail.

As such I don’t think that there is such a thing as a “typical Eilistraeen temple”. They share things in common, but as begets a chaotic religion they’re also all unique and different.

And that’s about the best answer anyone can give. :)

At the very least, you should see a lot of naked or scantily-clad priestesses running around. :D

All whom dance will dance to their and visitor comfort level. You will not see many nude priestesses in a snow cover glade for example. Reguired is moonlight and a place to dance and sing.
