E3 2006

Post by Shir'le E. Illios »

It’s E3 week! And as such I expect all kinds of nice little tidbits and media and such this week for a large number of games.

And I thought it might be a nice idea to have a thread where people can post links to E3-related articles, movies, pictures, etc. :)

Note that this doesn’t have to be limited to NWN2. Any game on any system is welcome here (or just anything interesting E3 related). As long as you think “that’s nice” or “that looks interesting” feel free to post.

And to kick off I’ll start with a couple of pictures of the [i:22o70fpm]huge[/i:22o70fpm] NWN2 banner hanging above one of the main entrances:

Neverwinter Nights 2 banner on Gamespot[/url:22o70fpm]
Neverwinter Nights 2 banner on Firing Squad[/url:22o70fpm]

Post away and enjoy the week. :)

Entertainment Expo 3 i think is the long hand version. Basicly a yearly convention covering all new gaming projects and new releases months and years before there released. best way to find out something new and cool on the horizen. There will be playable NWN2 probly there, Playstation 3, Nintendo Revalution playable (hopefully) and qute a few things that would blow any computer geek or geektriss mind ^_^

During my recently shortened periods on this computer (new at that) I've found somehting on PS3, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (and it's market rivals)

I didn't bookmark it, but don't worry I'll find it.

As for ESIV: Oblivion's market rivals, my money's on Gothic 3, Warhammer, Morrowind (a computer can live a little longer after it), and a personla favorite Quake wars: Enemy Terriory. Wolfenstain was used as a model, and also was made from the old DOOM III engine. If that piece of crap can fire up something with *that* much detail, I'll amke Carmack eat my socks. :D

Ok, here’s some news from Sony Computer Entertainment America’s E3 press conference.

First, here’s a conference report[/url:1cgles3t]. This also includes a link to some streaming movies of the event… but since I hate streaming video I’m still looking for downloadable versions.

Then Sony, announced a price, launch plans and controller[/url:1cgles3t] for the PS3. The price will be about $499/$599 (depending on how much HD space you get with it) and it’ll launch with some 2 million units.

It also unveiled the PS3 controller[/url:1cgles3t]… which will have the same basic design as the PS2 controller. But it’ll be wireless and won’t have rumble anymore, but will have motion control technology instead (meaning that how you tilt and turn the controller can have an effect ingame).

You can find this and other news (including a list of PS3 games) on Sony’s Official E3 website[/url:1cgles3t] (which, personally, I think sucks… you can’t directly link to articles, the text is fixed-size making it near unreadable at high resolution and you can’t copy-paste the text either. But the graphics are flashy. :squint: ).

Anyway. As a Sony employee I felt it my duty to report this. ;)

Can you tell I’m currently going through E3 news? ;)

More tidbits…

First there’s a Final Fantasy XIII trailer[/url:2d12alm0] from the PS3. Looks awesome and what’s even better… most of it’s ingame footage (apparently). Here’s also some of IGN’s impressions[/url:2d12alm0].

Then there’s a new Heavenly Sword trailer[/url:2d12alm0] on PS3. Not only does the game look pretty nice (though probably not quite my kind of gameplay), but the studio making it (Ninja Theory) is located two floors down from where I work. In fact, some of my colleagues are helping them out making it.

And last but not least… Obsidian released the official Neverwinter Nights 2 trailer[/url:2d12alm0]. Though it’s only 1:39 minutes (quite a bit of it being company names and that jazz) and the movie is completely pre-rendered (no ingame footage) it’s looking really snazzy. Worth a look. :)

Oh, you might have to download the latest Quicktime Player[/url:2d12alm0] to be able to watch it. My old quicktime player didn’t play it and my quicktime alternative (Media Player Classic) didn’t play it either. :squint:

Alright, diving into a few more news sites.

And E3 hasn’t even officially started yet.

Final Fantasy? Again? How many do they plan to make?

IT's a great game and all of that, it's hte fact that there's over 12 of them, and it's still popular that creeps me out!

PS3 wireless? Motion technology?! YEEEEEEEHAAAA!!!!

599$?! :squint:

You think it's easy, putting a migit gyroscope and a wireless system, and a controller system all in the space of 36? cubic inches? :uh-huh: (I have no idea what that is in centimeters, by the way)[/color:3bazn0vp]

saw some clips of fable 2 witch hoepfully it will be more expansive then the orginal but fable in iteself was quite good.

Plus Gears of War looked Very nice. Not a first person shooter were you run around like a fool but a dodge from cover point to cover point with a very expansive options (not just 1 or 2 like in past cover point games) and a nice Camra button that seems to focuse on what the game belaves to be the hot spot. Making cut sceans more of a choice if you hold the button, or you just seamlislee skip it...

To bad there for the xbox -_- damn you microsoft, damn you! MICROSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFT!!!!
