Off-Topic forum?
With the recent real-world religion thread and my own conflict between the desire to keep this a place where everyone feels comfortable and giving people the freedom to discuss whatever they wish, I’ve been considering whether I should add an off-topic forum to the boards.
At the moment the idea is more or less as follows. The General Discussion forum would be restricted to discussing game-related things; everything regarding the Chosen, D&D, drow, Eilistraee, NWN1/2 (and other fantasy games), Wizards of the Coast, etc, etc would be fine. But when things go outside of that (movies, other computer games, the weather, the color of trees falling in forests without anyone there to hear them, etc) would be moved to the new Off Topic forum.
The new forum would [i:b9v7pdi0]also[/i:b9v7pdi0] allow discussion of more sensitive issues such as real-world religion and politics. Of course in everything people are required to obey the forum rules and always be kind and courteous to other members and their beliefs (and such). But at least it would be a place for people to discuss such things.
However, I’m not altogether certain it’s a good thing to do that. For one, the board doesn’t exactly get the traffic to warrant another forum. And people might still feel uncomfortable with it (while they might still want to discuss the latest Transformers movie for example).
So I’d like you to consider the following questions:
Do you feel the need to discuss sensitive real world issues in these forums?
Would you want a separate sub-forum for such discussion?
Would you feel uncomfortable with such topics?
Do you think the division I suggested above is a decent one?
Do you think it would increase or decrease your and general interest in the site?
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
Except for that last question I am serious and I want to know your thoughts on this. In the end I want everyone to feel happy being here.

It was SO... a mistake to include that question.
Could we please treat a question a bit more seriously? Thank you.
And no Bhaern, the Hugs thread would still be fine in general (on a purely theoretical level). Hmm, maybe "Real World" would be a better name? Probably too confusing... meh, I don't know. Any thoughts?

It WAS the egg because it was layed by a small fat flightless bird the strongly resembled a chicken BUT WAS AS NOT YET A CHICKEN IN THE EVOLUTIONARY LINE and hatched into a slightly mutated small fat flightless bird THAT WAS NAMED A CHICKEN!

Ok I think everything is fine just as it is. Really. It's just that in this forum, a section called "real-life" would be too confusing. The General Discussion works perfectly fine for placing information about ourselves, like when the High Priestess wrote about her job change, or when I decided to present some facts I just wanted to share with the people that are somehow important to me. In my opinion it's fine as it is. The term "general" might be a little too general, but then again, everyone needs some space for a little talk, just because. I mean I had never had a problem choosing where to post what, or start a new thread.

My thoughts on the real-world thread are: I'm up for it. We don't need to pollute the General Disscusion with stupidities that's why we have the Hugs Thread.
It would be nice to put a password on the "Real-World". I don't want every second dickhead starting to shout: "my god's better then yours" or "I got a bigger **** then you do" or the worst case scenario "my dad's gonna' beat up your dad". We're quite fine with Unen on that matter.
And also...the egg came first.

1. Feel the need? No, but I certainly enjoy such discussion.
2. I wouldn't be opposed to it.
3. Not in the least.
4. It would certainly be reasonable
5. Increase.
6. Egg.
