I've had the opportunity since then to play almost every aspect of my current character's life, from actually playing her mother while other players played her father and grandparents to playing her now and having a total ball!
and you'll probably find me just as bad as someone else I keep hearing about here....

Don't let the silliness scare you away.
And it sounds like you've got a rich character. It's fun to have played through various different parts of a character's life. I hope that you'll be able to play through yet another one here. And, most of all of course, have fun doing it.
