Yeah, still swords are good to have cause even if you don't want absolute enormous power. You can still balance it out if its what you do want. But you should very very careful in using it.

In War: Resolution. In Defeat: Defiance. In Victory: Magnanimity. In Peace: Goodwill.
[quote="Zil":1dp6tm15]Well, this one time I fought my father in the castle courtyard.
I ended up smashing his shield and I guess that signed his defeat.
That was some years ago, however so I don't know if it counts.[/quote:1dp6tm15]
I bet you got a pretty tough fight on your father back then aye.
If I had fought during my teenage levels, I should be more competitive than today.

I've never seriously done swordfighting, just sparred with Amtgard-style weapons (ie- pvc pipe wrapped in foam padding and duct-tape), and the occasional playing around with my small blades. (Daggers, kitchen knives, and such.) It's not much, but helps me keep in shape. And it's safer, too! Well, the Amtgard weapons are, anyway. I save playing with my knives for when I'm alone to avoid injuring others. I don't worry so much about injuries to myself- since I'm hardly likely to try to stab or slash MYSELF. It's mostly practice for self-defense purposes, anyway.
By the Dark Maiden''s grace do we meet. May she guide and protect us.

Re: sword fighting
I've fought for fun once or twice in the SCA, but I've never been serious about it. I'm more of a kill-you-at-fifty-yards archer kinda guy.

Re: sword fighting
I've done a little of plunger arrow shooting and plastic light-saber combat back in my ol days as a wee little kid.
Ah, memories..
Anyway, once I have the time, I'd love to get into kendo.
